Chapter 98 “Stomachache?” Trevor snorted.

What a lousy escuse.

Cerys tried to defend Emma. “Some women do get pretty bad cramps during those few days of the

month. I don‘i think she‘s lying, Mr. Bateson.”

Emma‘s voice had sounded rather strained, and as a woman herself, Cerys was fully aware of how

much discomfort Emma could be feeling.

While Emma‘s symptoms involved stomach cramps, she tended to get headaches instead.

She would get a killer headache within the first two days of her menstruation and would have to

medicate herself through it.

Trevor frowned. Those few days of the month

Why did he not know about her symptoms?

In the three years that he was with Emma, he never heard of her feeling unwell, save for a few bouts of

the flu.

.

Though, it had been established that he was unaware of a lot of things. Either way, he changed his

mind. “Ask Wesley to come with me then.”

“Will do,” Cerys replied, but at the mention of Wesley, she thought of something. “Last night, during

dinner, Emma mentioned that… Mr. Zurich confessed his feelings to her.”

“What did you say?” Trevor could not believe his ears. “He confessed?”

While he did notice that Wesley seemed to have a thing for Emma, he did not think that Wesley would

jump straight to a confession.

Cerys nodded. “Emma said that it happened on the day when Steven and Simon caused a scene at

Alpha Productions.”

“Is he after some kind of May–December romance? Shouldn‘t he be ashamed of himself for even

thinking about it?” Trevor lambasted Wesley without holding back at all.

“Don‘t bother getting in touch with him. I‘ll go by myself,” he added derisively.

The very thought of Wesley now was enough to rile him up. He might even be

tempted to greet him with a punch, so it was best that they did not meet.

Cerys struggled to prevent her lips from curling as she said, “Yes, Mr. Bateson.”

She could tell why Trevor changed his mind and decided against going with Wesley. It was clear as day

that he was incensed by Wesley‘s confession.

Although it was true that Emma felt rather uncomfortable thanks to her menstrual cramps, it was an

exaggeration to say that she could not even get out of bed. She used that as an excuse to get out of

making the trip with Trevor.

That being said, she decided to give Wesley a call and inform him that Trevor was going to meet with

Quincy.

Emma was unsure if Trevor extended a similar invitation to Wesley, but she felt that it was best if

Wesley did tag along

Throughout her writing process, she and Wesley engaged in numerous discussions, so if Wesley went

to meet Quincy, he would be able to provide a more in–depth description of the plot and storyline.

Therefore, when Trevor and Cerys arrived at Quincy‘s office half an hour later, they ran into Wesley,

who arrived at the same time they did.

Trevor‘s expression soured at once, whereas Wesley kept a straight face as he said, “Emma told me

that you‘ll be coming to see Quincy, Mr. Bateson. Emma and I spent countless hours every day

discussing the script she‘s working on, so I have a better understanding of the plot and storyline. We

both think that it‘d be best if I came to meet Quincy.”

Spending countless hours every day discussing the script? They both think so, huh?

Trevor threw Wesley an icy glare as his expression turned even graver.

He marched into Quincy‘s office without saying anything, while Wesley nodded and greeted Cerys

politely before stepping in after him.

Once they were all seated in Quincy‘s office, Quincy‘s eyes flitted back and forth between the two other

men before asking tentatively, “Wesley, Mr. Bateson, I‘m just checking, but… you guys are

collaborating on this project together, right?” |

Wesley and Quincy graduated from the same university, but Wesley graduated a few years earlier.

It was well within reason that Quincy asked such a question. The tension between Trevor and Wesley

filled the room like a white elephant. They did not seem like they were producing a television show

together, but instead, it felt as if they were minutes away from getting into a fight

Technically speaking, it was Trevor who seemed to be in a foul mood.

Wesley was perfectly at ease, but he could figure out why Trevor‘s attitude toward him was rather

hostile. He was willing to bet that it had something to do with Emma.

Now that they were confronted with Quincy‘s question, Wesley was the first to answer.

He passed the script that he had brought with him over to Quincy before saying, “Mr. Bateson has a

wedding coming up, so there must be a lot of things he‘s busy with right now. It‘s perfectly

understandable if his mood is a little low. He must be exhausted.”

Wesley mentioned Trevor‘s marriage to Crystal on purpose, of course. He was intentionally making a

dig at Trevor.

Quincy chuckled lightly. “Do remember to send me an invitation, Mr. Bateson.”

For the past few days, Crystal had been going in and out of various bridal studios and jewelry ateliers,

so Quincy thought that it must be true.

However, their comments made Trevor‘s blood boil. He side–eyed Wesley and asked in a mocking

tone, “Mr. Zurich, how long do you think a May–December romance will last?”

“I‘m pretty optimistic about it. At lcast it has a future, unlike a relationship that failed and has already

fallen apart.” Wesley was no pushover. He knew exactly what to say, and his words hit hard.

Trevor snorted and held back his urge to flip the table.

People often said that relationships that ended in breakups were best left in the past. He was also

pretty annoyed with himself for the way he seemed to be missing Emma.

Thanks to their fiery exchange, Quincy got the picture. The strained relationship between Wesley and

Trevor was due to a woman.

It was a tale as old as time.

In the end, Quincy took the initiative to switch the subject by bringing up the screenplay for ‘The Love

Story of Imperial Consort Rose‘.

“I’m quite impressed by the screenwriter, Winter. Her previous works were very nuanced and well–

written,” Quincy said.

Quincy‘s compliments for Emma did a lot to improve Trevor‘s mood.

However, at the very next second, he started to scrutinize Quincy with an

indiscernible expression. Is he yel another man who‘s going to take an interest in her due to her

talents?

Ouincy raised his eyebrows when he noticed Trevor‘s gaze, but he continued, “Since it‘s your

directorial debut, Wesley, and it‘s also a production backed by Mr. Bateson, I‘m more than happy to be

a part of this project.” .

“I do have an actress I‘d like to recommend for the second female lead,” Quincy added.

That piqued Wesley‘s interest. “Who do you want to recommend?”

“Johanna Sunprise,” Quincy replied.

After racking his brains for several moments, Wesley responded with a slight frown, “I haven‘t heard of

her before.”

Quincy chuckled and explained, “She‘s a D–list actress, but I see a lot of potential in her. I‘m not asking

for any favors, though. I just want you to let her audition for the role, Wesley. It‘s fine if she‘s not a good

fil.”

“Sure.” Wesley nodded in agreement.

He glanced at Trevor and commented off–handedly, “I never thought that the second female lead would

be such a popular role. I received a call not too long ago from Mr. Bateson‘s fiancée, asking if she

could audition for il 100.”

“By the way, Mr. Bateson, wasn‘t Crystal going to retire from the industry and focus on her role as Mrs.

Bateson? Why is she suddenly taking up acting roles again? What‘s going on with you two?” Wesley

added.

“When have I ever said that she‘s my fiancee?” Trevor retorted icily.

Quincy sipped his coffee at leisure. He quite enjoyed being a fly on the wall, listening in on the gossip.

Wesley shrugged. “Everyone in Jonestown thinks it‘s true.”

Trevor snorted. “So what if everyone in Jonestown thinks it‘s true? It doesn‘t mean I admitted to it.”

He got up and bade goodbye to Quincy. “Since it‘s decided, you can proceed to discuss the contract

with Mr. Zurich. I‘ll take my leave now.”

He walked off with Cerys without giving either one of the other two men a second

look.
