Chapter 277 Don’t Wake Her Up
“My sincerest apologies on behalf of Mr. Hans. I’m sorry for the damage he caused.” Fernando bowed to Maia in remorse.
“Please forgive him, Ms. Maia.”
It was meaningless to point fingers now. If she looked at the whole thing from Hans’s perspective, he had done nothing wrong.
Whatever happened went down because of bad luck and the fact that his memory was jumbled up.
“I’ll be going home now, Fernando.” She nodded at him and walked toward her car. The wind blew past her and tousled her long
hair. With the small leaf rosewood box in her hands, Maia’s brow furrowed.
It turned out Cedric had not known that someone drugged her cup of tea. He actually tried to stop her, but she went ahead and
blamed him instead.
Maia cast her mind back to the morning when she poked at his chest with a knife and drove the knife in slightly. Cedric did not try
to explain the situation. He didn’t even flinch.
Instead, he leaned in closer and drove the knife deeper into his chest.
“Whatever you want, as long as you don’t hurt yourself.”
“I would never leave you unless I died.”
“Cedric, do you think I really wouldn’t dare to act?”
“I know you would.”
She could hear everything he said in her mind. It haunted her relentlessly and there was nothing she could do to make it go
away.
Maia took a deep breath and drove away from Beverley Manor. A silver Porsche Cayenne hurtled in the night.
She did not turn on the lights once she was back in her place. The brilliant moonlight shone into her room and highlighted how
lonesome she was. She leaned on the door and cast her glance at the painting..

Maia lowered her gaze and said to herself, “Very soon, I’ll find the evidence of Rita pushing me down the stairs and caused my

miscarriage. We’ll be enemies when that happens. We’ll be
mortal enemies forever...
“It’s impossible for us to go back to what we were. We can’t go back, Cedric. I’ll never love you again. We can never be together
again...”
Maia gripped the small leaf rosewood box and took heavy steps toward her room. She knew

never let anyone else lay their fingers on the jade tablet.
Maia could not sleep. She spent the entire night packing her suitcase.

Buck arrived at Cloud Nine Residences the next morning. He saw how tired Maia looked when he was taking her suitcase to the
car.
“You don’t look too good, Ms. Maia. I can see the circles under your eyes. Did you not sleep well?”
“I couldn’t sleep at all,” Maia answered briefly, looking all worn out. She pinched the bridge of her nose and went into the car.

“It’ll take us at least fifty minutes to reach the airport, Ms. Maia. Catch some shut–eye while you can. I’ll wake you up when we’re
there.”
“Okay,” Maia nodded, feeling a little drowsy. She had fallen asleep by the time Buck was done with her suitcase and was ready
to hit the road. He turned off the music and drove to the airport.
Buck went into the parking lot when they arrived at the airport. Just as he was about to wake Maia up, he saw someone standing
next to their car.
“M–Mr. Cedric...?” Buck muttered. Then, he got out of the car.
Cedric asked, “Is she sleeping?”
“That’s right.” Buck nodded and said, “Ms. Maia didn’t get any sleep last night. However, she fell asleep as soon as she got into
the car. I was about to wake her up.”

“You don’t have to do that.” Cedric said coldly. Then, he opened the car door and smiled as he stared at Maia, who was sleeping
soundly. He had been waiting for the woman he loved at the airport for a long time.
Cedric proceeded to carry her out of the car. She was still sleeping soundly in his embrace. His smile widened as he looked at
her. All of his animosity was replaced by his hot, passionate love for her.
“Mr. Cedric.” Buck didn’t know what to say to Cedric, but he knew he was in for a scolding after she woke up. “If Ms. Maia was to
know about this, then...‘
“Just tell her that you couldn’t overrule me and was kicked out of the airport by Baz.”
“Huh?” Buck scratched his head and stood where he was. Cedric carried her to the VIP lane before he could react.

Baz gestured at Buck and said, “Just tell Ms. Maia what Mr. Cedric told you when she comes

Then, Baz caught up to Cedric in the VIP lane. Buck couldn’t make heads nor tails of the
situation.
Moments later, he muttered, “Mr. Cedric was too badass, Ms. Maia. I couldn’t overrule him... I’m sorry. Please forgive me, Ms.
Maia. I failed as your assistant...”
At that moment, an SUV drove into the underground parking lot and pulled over. Hope came out and bumped right into Buck.
They locked gazes for a second before averting their eyes.
Wesley and Hope’s assistant carried her suitcases. He followed her gaze and saw Buck, “What a coincidence. I didn’t bet on
running into Buck here. Aren’t you guys close friends, Hope? Why didn’t you say hi?”
“We can’t be certain if there are paparazzi here. It’d be best if we kept our distance. After all, an absurd rumor about us took off
in the past. Don’t you agree, Wesley?”
Wesley nodded and said, “You make a fine point. Let’s use the VIP lane. Your flight is about to take off.”
Hope nodded and headed to the VIP lane. She acted as if she had not seen Buck at all. They
were so close and yet so far with each other.
She pressed down on her cap quickly and put on her mask. Just as she was putting on the sunglasses, her tears started flowing.
No one else noticed.
Buck watched her from behind. His eyes reddened as they walked further into the VIP lane. Sighing heavily, he ducked back into
the car and stared blankly at the dashboard for a long
time.
