Chapter 212 Do You Like the Show?
The auction was in full swing Just when everyone was eager to see what item would come up next, the emcee exclaimed,
“Ladies and gentlemen. Don’t you think you’ve seen enough jewelry:
“The next item is a wristwatch from the forties. There are twenty–nine gems on it! It’s one of the best vintage watches we’ve ever
seen! Let’s unveil it.
The spotlight focused on a rectangular glass shelf on the stage. Everyone stared at it, eyes. glinting.
“What a splendid watch!”
“Seconded. It’s such a rare work of art. The fact that it’s from the forties makes it worth collecting!”
“The starting price is going to be steep. I’m a little curious about who will win the bid for it tonight.”
Maia frowned and looked at the wristwatch. She kept her peripheral vision on Tess and found that she, too, had her eyes fixed
on it. Tess clutched at her gown. She was nervous.
A few seconds later, Tess pulled her gaze away and looked at Maia. “Is that it, Maia?”
Maia looked at her and nodded solemnly. “That’s it.”
“We have to get our hands on the wristwatch, Maia. It belonged to my sister once.” Tess sounded and looked earnest, but there
was an odd look in her eyes.
“The starting price for the wristwatch is 3.8 million dollars.”
The lights flickered abruptly just as the bidders were getting ready to place their bids. Then, a loud boom was heard and the
entire venue went pitch dark.
Everyone had their phones taken away when they entered the venue, so no one had any flashlights that they could use to
illuminate the darkness. That contributed to the commotion among the attendants.
“What’s going on?”
“Is the power out?”
The emcee tried to soothe the audience immediately, “Please remain calm, everyone. The personnel are checking on it as we
speak...”
More ear–shattering booming sounds assaulted their ears, cutting off the emcee’s words.

The chandelier hanging over the stage fell and crashed. Numerous pieces of glass shards sent flying!
“Those are explosions! There are bombs in here!”
Everyort started to scream at that.
‘Run, quick!”
“There! The exits are on the right! Move!”
“Get out of here now!”
The crowd had been shaken by the blackout, but now, they were in full–blown panic. All of them swarmed toward the exits. It
was already dark, so it was hard to see each other. The chaos did not help.
Tess seized the opportunity. She dashed onto the stage and took the wristwatch from the shelf!
“Are you Ms. Tess?” A bodyguard came up behind her and said, “According to the plan, the bomb will be detonated in another
minute. Please follow me to the back door.”
Tess was taken aback by what he said, “Okay. Sure.” Then, she tightened her grip on the watch and left the scene with the
bodyguard. She ran with everything she got.
The streets were cold and empty in the dead of night. The screams and pleas for help from the event were getting further away
from her! She stopped when she was safe and tried to steady her breath.
Tess stood in the middle of the street. Nobody was around. She looked at the watch in her hand. She burst into laughter.
“Hahaha... I have it. It’s mine! The proof is as good as gone now. Gone! I can live out the rest of my days in peace once I destroy
Tess raised her head and laughed. The street light cast a long shadow behind her.
She lifted her hand and was about to smash the watch, when a beam of light shone directly on her, temporarily blinding her. Tess
shielded her eyes and squinted. She thought she saw a red
Ferrari.
The car door opened and a lady in high heels came out. She was wearing a leather skirt and her lips were red. She looked both
seductive and assertive!
The lady took off her hairband and let down her hair. Tess finally saw clearly who the lady was. She was rooted to the spot, her
hand that was still clutching the watch hanging in midair.
“M–Maia...” Tess stuttered. Her face went pale. She pulled her hand back hurriedly and tucked the watch away. It was so quiet
that the sound of Maia’s high heels clicking on the pavement was incredibly crisp.

Each click struck fear into Tess’s mind. Her face became paler and paler. Eventually, Mala stopped and looked at Tess, “Did you
enjoy the show we put on for you, Aunt Tess?”
“What are you talking about, Maia? I–I’m afraid I don’t follow...” She was still trying to deny

turn around frantically to run away.
However, a fleet of SUVS led by a black Lamborghini pulled over by the road. Bodyguards poured out of the SUVS and
surrounded Tess. There was no way she could escape now!
A sharply–dressed man got out of the Lamborghini. Tess knew it was truly over when she laid eyes on him...
“Cedric...” she uttered slowly. Then, her legs gave out and she slumped onto the ground. The watch fell and made a sharp
noise! Maia walked over to Tess as the bodyguards made way for her.
She grabbed Tess by her collar.
