“Do you want her to remember everything?” Cedric asked as he stared straight at her.
Tess was intimidated by his look as she struggled to regain her composure. “I don’t care. As long as Maia is happy and safe,
that’s all that matters to me.”
“Really? You’re such a loving aunt,” Cedric replied sarcastically.
Maia struggled to hold back her laughter as she pulled the hem of his shirt. “How can you talk to her like that? She’s my aunt.”
“It’s fine, Maia. This is how he his. I won’t be mad at his attitude.” Tess replied amugly as she was satisfied with how Maia was
siding with her.
“Look at how nice Aunt Tess is.”
“If you say so.” Cedric only smiled in reply as he walked toward her and carried her from the
couch.
“What are you doing? Put me down!” Maia was embarrassed as her aunt was still in the room. She was also angry at Cedric
taking advantage of her.
Cedric knew from the shade of red on her face that she was embarrassed. He looked at Tess
and demanded, “It’s 5pm already. I’m taking her home.”
Tess could only smile awkwardly and nodded.
Cedric carried Maia out of the room without even a second glance at Tess. Maia waved at Tess and said, “See you tomorrow!”
When they got inside the elevator, Maia immediately requested for Cedric to put her down. We’re done with the acting, put me
down.”
Cedric did not comply as he claimed that there were still surveillance cameras in the elevator.
Maia was flabbergasted, but she could only let him continue carrying her. Luckily, it was already way past regular working hours.
Most of her employees had already gone home. Only a few who were at the lobby witnessed the scene.
Cedric chose to ignore them as he marched to his Rolls–Royce. Maia was surprised that he had chosen a limousine–type car
today.
Gilbert got out of the car as soon as he saw them and opened the passenger car door for them.

“I was just worried that you might be hungry,” Cedric stated.
“So, you decided to bring a car full of snacks?” She finally knew why he had decided to drive at different car!
“They were all the snacks that I’ve ever seen you have.”
Maia was impressed with his memory, “You bought everything that I’ve eaten because you weren’t sure about what I like?”
“Yeah,” Cedric answered awkwardly. He knew how stupid it looked, but he was willing to do
this for her.
Maia felt a warm sensation spreading in her heart as she was touched by Cedric’s silly way of trying to make her happy.
However, she quickly stopped herself from falling into his trap. If he was capable loving, why did he not do it when they were still

Nester was a small town near Solisar city. It was not easy to get there, as the only way to get there was by plane.
Cedric just nodded his head.
The atmosphere in the car was silent again until Cedric brought up the charity event on Wednesday.
“Could I be in charge of the event hall’s floor plan?” Maia asked.
“Sure.”
“I’ll get it done as soon as possible and send it to you.”

“I’m not willing to allow Tess close to those exhibits. Furthermore, it’s good practice for me too. How better to familiarize myself
with the event than by personally being part of it?”
“Smart girl,” Cedric said. He would not be able to be at the event, but he would take care of her in the shadows.
When they were back at Prismara Hill, Maia went upstairs right after she had finished her dinner.
She was going through her regular routine of reading and organizing her documents, checking the news, and watching the latest
episode of The Quest.
Suddenly, she felt a shiver down her spine and felt a moment of distress. Maia was surprised with this sensation. She had a
feeling that something was not right. She tried to reassure herself by assuming she was tired.
Soon, she drifted off to a shallow slumber. For some reason, she kept tugging on her blanket nervously as she slept poorly.
