“Ms. Maia.” Paige greeted her and continued to keep her head down.
Maia acted like she did not know what was going on as she handed her the documents. ” What’s wrong?”
Paige just shook her head as she looked at her with red eyes, not daring to utter a word.
“Why were these documents on the floor?” Maia questioned in a seemingly calm tone. In truth, she was restraining herself from
throwing these files at Tess.
Before Paige could reply, Tess interrupted eagerly. “Maia, you’re here. Why are you carrying a bag of food? Did you not have
breakfast? If I’d known, I would’ve prepared your favorite food!”
“Aunt Tess, what’s going on here?” Maia questioned as she glanced at Paige who was still organizing the documents on the
floor. Maia could not believe how fast her aunt could change her behavior.
“I was just upset that Paige couldn’t do her work properly, so I gave her a warning. However, she looked like she wasn’t listening,
so I got slightly angry and gave her back these documents. They slipped and fell causing this mess!” Tess explained
shamelessly.
Maia was flabbergasted at her brazen behavior. Paige, on the other hand, did not dare to voice her dissatisfaction and remained
silent.
Without saying a word to Tess, Maia continued to help Paige with the mess and when she passed the documents back to her,
she instructed quietly, “Give them to Buck”
Tess immediately questioned Maia about what she had just said to Paige after Paige had left.
“I told her to do her job and to not make you angry,” Mala said.
Tess smiled at Maia in satisfaction.
“Aunt Tess, did you hear of the news about Celia?”
Tess nodded, “It caused such a huge commotion, but I heard that the news outlets were pressured into keeping it quiet. Were
you responsible for that?”
“No, it wasn’t me. It was Cedric. I went to see Celia yesterday. She was badly affected by the news,” Maia added.
“Yeah, I didn’t expect something like that to happen to her. I called Errol yesterday to check. on him. I’m planning to visit them at
the hospital. After all, Celia is our company’s artist. It’s my job to pay her a visit and check on her.”

“Yeah, I texted him yesterday.”
Maia was relieved that Errol at least knew that Tess was coming over. They had to be prepared for whatever schemes she may
have up her sleeves.
“Aunt Tess, it must be hard on you, taking care of the company and having to visit Errol later. I’m sorry that we’ve been a bother
to you. Thank you for all you’ve done for us, Mala faked gratitude as she thanked Tess.
“Don’t mention it! We’re family. You don’t have to thank me for anything!” Tess replied as she patted Maia’s hand.
Maia could not help but feel disgusted at how fake Tess was. If it were not for her, Starlight Entertainment would not be in such a
mess. However, she could not show Tess how she really felt. Instead, Maia just smiled at Tess.
along as she sat on the couch and went through the emails and documents that Cedric had sent her.
Tess occasionally came to check on Maia. She was happy to see that Maia was just fiddling with her phone and not working.
In the evening, the doors to Tess’s office suddenly flew open. Tess wanted to yell at the person who entered without even
knocking. When she noticed that it was Cedric, she tensed up and smiled forcefully, “Mr. Cedric, fancy smiled forcefully, “Mr.
Cedric, fancy seeing you here. What can we do for you?”
“It’s already 5pm,” Cedric answered succinctly. His eyes were drawn to Maia, who was sitting
on the couch.
When he noticed her still playing with her phone, he walked over and lowered himself so his face was at her eye level. “I’m here!”
Maia wanted to finish the document that she was reading even though she knew that he was here already. She placed her
phone back into her pocket and whined, “What do expect me to do? Welcome you with a dance?”
“You’re supposed to look at me.” He smiled.
Maia had not forgotten that they were supposed to act like a loving couple. She blinked
playfully and added, “I’ve seen you a few times now. Are you satisfied?”
“That’s not nearly enough. It’s not every day you get to see someone as handsome as I am!”
Maia just rolled her eyes in response. His ego could be unbearable at times!
Cedric continued to smile gently at her as he looked at her with loving eyes. It was unusual
