Chapter 149

Anastasia looked at Alastor in shock.

She thought, “Was Sienna not taken away by Alastor?”

She never thought that Jason would be involved in this.

“Anastasia, listen to my advice. Even if you don’t want to be with me, you should not provoke Jason,

that maniac. He can ignore the law at such a young age, take advantage of being a minor, and try to kill

people. What else can’t he do? What can you learn from him?” Out of kindness, Alastor reminded

Anastasia.

Anastasia remained silent, but her fingers felt a bit numb.

After a long silence, Anastasia looked at Alastor. “For that video on the Internet, do you insist I did it

voluntarily?”

“I…” Alastor certainly didn’t hope Anastasia did it willingly, but even if the video was edited, it was true

that she did not resist.

“Anastasia, you were young and still in the university back then. Your social experience was limited,

and falling for a trick was understandable. Your father mentioned that your family was struggling

financially. Relying on the project from Harold seemed like a lifeline for survival, and you were

manipulated because you wanted to support your family.” Alastor did his utmost to find justifications

and explanations, attempting to absolve Anastasia’s past indiscretions.

Anastasia chuckled and said, “You can’t even come up with a good lie, can you?”

Anastasia sighed and forced herself to calm down. “Alastor, don’t burden yourself too much.”

She wanted him to stop finding reasons and excuses for her.

“Alastor, you have a serious mysophobia. I appreciate your efforts in coming up with so many reasons

and excuses for me, even though I don’t deserve them,” Anastasia smiled and spoke again, “We

started with a blind date and got a blitz marriage. I’m sorry we couldn’t build a solid emotional

foundation before hastily getting married.”

Alastor remained silent.

“I know you well. Even if I beg you not to get a divorce and start over, you’ll never forget about the

matter.” Anastasia wanted to persuade Alastor to give up, divorce her, and have no further involvement

with each other.

“I want to give it a try…” For Alastor, this also required a tremendous amount of courage.

He believed he had given all his favoritism to Anastasia.

Anastasia was his only exception.

He wanted to test whether his reluctance and unwillingness to let go of Anastasia were signs of love.

If it was indeed love, he wanted to ascertain whether his feelings for Anastasia could help him break

down the barriers in his heart.

“Why do you have to make things difficult for yourself?” Anastasia couldn’t help but chuckle. “After all,

you don’t love me.”

“I want to find out if I truly love you,” Alastor said, his tone firm, as he gazed at Anastasia.

Anastasia was momentarily taken aback and felt a hint of amusement. “I can’t believe you’re

questioning whether you love

someone or not…”

However, life is not a game, and neither are feelings.

Games could be restarted, but love couldn’t.

She would leave once she felt thoroughly disappointed.

“Anastasia, my parents didn’t have a foundation of a relationship either. My dad chose to marry my

mom on his own accord. My grandparents never pressured him into it,” Alastor said, avoiding the topic

of his own family as it made him feel

uneasy.

Anastasia took a deep breath and said nothing.

Alastor and Christian were strikingly similar, even in their past relationship experiences.

Due to their first love, they left and impulsively married other women. However, after marriage, they

realized these women weren’t what they truly desired, so they fled.

Alastor performed his irresponsibility to the fullest extent.

“I don’t want to be like him,” Alastor said with a sense of desperation, longing to break away from his

father’s ways yet unsure how to proceed.

“I’m destined to be the victim while you figure things out,” Anastasia acknowledged the reality, feeling

resigned to her fate, and allowed him to proceed as he wished. “How long are you going to keep

trying?”

“Until Grandma dies.” Alastor knew that Andrea didn’t have much time left.

He also didn’t want to delay for too long.

Anastasia nodded. “What about Felicia? How do you plan to deal with her?”

“What do you want me to do?” Alastor was unsure what he should do.
