Chapter 308 Lend Me Your Men

Kiran walked up to her and intimately wrapped his arm around her shoulders. He pointed ahead. “See

that? He’s right there.”

Josephine looked in the direction he was pointing at. A massive white cruise ship was waiting

at the port. Brightly lit, faint sounds of revelry came from it.

Josephine blinked. She really thought that was where Lewis was.

“Let’s go.” Hugging her shoulders, Kiran pushed her ahead.

They were at some distance from the cruise ship and had to walk for almost ten minutes.

It was more crowded when they reached the pier.

Men and women flocked to the pier, wearing stylish outfits. Some were in unique attires, while some

were in elegant apparel. There were all sorts of people there.

One thing was for sure-these people were from exceptional backgrounds.

With his arm on her shoulders, Kiran calmly boarded the cruise ship. Several fully-armed men guarded

the entrance. They looked like soldiers-mercenaries, to be more precise.

Except for their eyes peeking out from their helmet, they were covered from head to toe, without an

inch of skin exposed.

Josephine scanned her surroundings inquisitively. It was overflowing with humans. She felt curious and

slightly scared at the same time.

She subconsciously wrapped her arms tighter around Kiran’s arm.

Compared to these people, Kiran seemed relatively ordinary. He seemed comparably dependable and

sensible in the way he spoke and the attire he wore.

The current Josephine didn’t understand the meaning of “a wolf in sheep’s clothing.”

Kiran paused and looked at her.

He didn’t expect Josephine’s abduction to play out so smoothly. If he had only known… he would have

done this earlier.

Looking at her, she was obviously oblivious that he was pulling the wool over her eyes.

He could finally understand why Lewis was overprotective of Josephine. It wasn’t an act to throw him

off; it was because of … Josephine’s abnormality.

At first, Kiran thought Lewis was intentionally putting on a show, so he would think Lewis treasured

Josephine instead of Sierra, luring him to target Josephine instead.

It seemed he had been overthinking.

Under the brilliant light, Josephine finally saw the eyes behind Kiran’s glasses.

The corners of his eyes slanted upward, giving him a mischievous vibe.

Kiran waltzed in with his arm still on Josephine’s shoulders.

It was more crowded inside the cruise ship. People from all over the world gathered in groups, enjoying

themselves with the variety of activities onboard.

Josephine saw a restaurant. She stopped in her tracks as she got a whiff of the delicious scent of food.

She tugged Kiran’s arm and pointed toward the restaurant.

Kiran paused and looked in the direction of her finger. “Are you hungry?”

Josephine looked up at him and nodded, her eyes brimming with anticipation.

She seemed not at all wary of him.

Kiran thought about it and brought her over.

After taking their seats, Kiran snapped his fingers to summon the waiter and ordered two

steaks.

Josephine was starving. She had had only several bowls of broth that morning, and they didn’t last

long.

Soon, the steaks were served. Kiran pushed both plates toward Josephine.

Without delay, Josephine picked up the cutlery and started eating. However, clumsy with her use of the

cutlery, she cast the dinner knife aside, stabbed the steak with her fork, and munched away.

Opposite her, Kiran silently watched.

Her hair was messy from the breeze earlier, spreading in a mess on her head. Occasionally, she would

bite on her hair when she ate.

She would then pull her hair out of her mouth and continue munching on the steak.

The steak wasn’t well-done and was not to her taste, but she was too hungry and savored it

anyway.

She finished the steak rapidly, and her lips glistened with oil. She eyed the other steak and stared

hopefully at Kiran.

Kiran read her mind. He nudged the plate before her and said, “Eat up.”

Josephine’s face lit up with glee. She didn’t even bother to use the cutlery anymore. She grabbed the

steak with her hand and started devouring it.

Her cheeks were slightly chubby. Flanked by her blonde hair, her face seemed smaller than it

was.

Comparatively, her eyes seemed bigger. Long curly eyelashes dropped over her eyes as she focused

on munching her steak.

He had to say that anyone who had seen her face wouldn’t be able to resist taking a second glance.

Kiran had never paid attention to her facial features-until now. Her facial features were delicate and

fragile, just like a doll. No wonder Lewis was nervous.

He could also understand somehow what crossed little girls’ minds when they dressed up their

dolls.

They would dress the dolls in their preferred style and then… crush them.

His gaze might have been too intrusive, so much so that Josephine felt uneasy. She looked up.

at Kiran with the steak between her teeth.

Kiran withdrew his peculiar gaze and returned to normal. “Are you done?”

Josephine was silent for several moments. She swallowed whatever she had in her mouth and put the

remaining steak in her hand back on the plate, using her actions to tell him she was already full.

Kiran passed her the napkin. “Clean up.”

Josephine took it and carelessly wiped her mouth with it.

She didn’t forget what she was here for. She cast the napkin aside and gestured, “Where is

Lewis?”

Kiran merely answered with three words, “I don’t understand.”

Josephine deflated. Her shoulders drooped, and she looked lamentingly at Kiran.

Kiran got up and waved at her. “Come here.”

Josephine hesitated for a while before going over to him. She regarded him as nice because he

brought her to the restaurant for steak, and she thought he would definitely lead her to Lewis.

Kiran casually wrapped his arm around her and brought her to the second floor.

“Chairman. Alvarez, we found them. That person brought Miss Vance to Westside Pier and boarded

the cruise ship to Thavania.”

Back in the hotel, Lewis stood by the window, holding his phone and looking straight at the sea before

him. He was silent for several seconds before he asked, “When will it start moving?”

1/4

“It will start moving after half an hour. We won’t make it even if we head there now.”

Lewis didn’t wait for the other side to finish speaking. He hung up, grabbed his coat, and

strode out.

After leaving the hotel, he called Seth and said promptly, “Bring some men to Westside Pier.”

Then, he hurled his phone aside and jammed down on the accelerator, speeding toward

Westside Pier.

Seth paused as he stared at his phone.

The elderly man sitting across from him asked, “Found her?”

Seth nodded. “Mr. Yale, I might need to borrow some men from you. That brat. Why would he take

Josephine to the cruise ship?”

Richard Yale twiddled with his mustache and nodded. “Alright. Do you need me to stop the cruise

ship?”

Seth replied, “There’s no need for you to be a part of all these since you’ve retired. Lending me your

men would suffice.”

“Call me anytime if you need my help.”

Seth was moved. He glanced at Richard and said, “Sure.”

The man wasn’t too old. He was only in his 50s. He wore a tuxedo with a longer top.

He was the one who helped Seth escape Hardington and assume a new identity.

Seth had never asked him for favors all these years-this was the first.

And it was all because of that damned mute! z

Seth immediately rose and nodded at Richard in acknowledgment before turning to leave.
