Chapter 259 He Acts Like Him, but He’s Not Him

“Sir, I’m really sorry! Please let me go!”

Rufus was no fool; the Maybach parked at the roadside had a fancy license plate number. A man of

that caliber wasn’t someone he could offend.

Meanwhile, Josephine remained seated on the ground, staring at Lewis dumbfoundedly. He looked so

familiar that she couldn’t help but space out.

“You’re the one conning me here, yet you’re begging for me to let you go. Where did the bravery you

had when you accused her of conning you go?”

Lewis was referring to the time when Rufus berated Josephine earlier. The latter was already on the

verge of breaking down, so he could only beg for his life. “I’m the one who’s at fault. here. It’s my fault

for misunderstanding the pretty lady without knowing what exactly happened. I’m to be blamed, so

please let me go and forget everything about me.”

When Rufus was done talking, he turned to look at Josephine after realizing that Lewis was completely

unmoved by his words.

“Miss, it was all my fault! You seem like a kind person, so can you let me go? I’m sorry, alright? I’m

really sorry that I mistook you for a con artist without hearing your side of the story!”

Josephine just stared at Rufus pointedly. She needed some time to register what he had just said to

her. After that, she looked up at Lewis.

Well, she was the one at fault first.

She shouldn’t have run away from her spot and crossed the road without paying attention to her

surroundings.

Rufus was pleased when he noticed a look of pity on Josephine’s face. He then raised his head. to look

at Lewis eagerly.

The latter ripped his gaze from Josephine’s face before glancing at Rufus. Finally, he retracted his foot

from the latter’s leg and moved away from his hand. “Get lost.”

“O-Okay!” Rufus quickly scrambled up to his feet and fled into his car before driving away

from the area.

There were still many onlookers surrounding the scene. None of them expected a plot twist to happen;

it turned out that the woman wasn’t trying to con the driver at all, not to mention she seemed to have a

powerful background.

Some of the onlookers recognized Lewis right away. After all, the scandals concerning him and Sierra

had gone viral recently.

The Elysians, especially those of the younger generation, were especially familiar with Lewis. The fact

that the incident happened right outside the university, where the majority of the population happened

to be students, made Lewis stand out like a sore thumb even more.

Someone whipped out their phone and started taking pictures of the man. It was their first time seeing

Lewis in the flesh, which was why they needed to commemorate this moment. Meanwhile, Lewis

approached Josephine before crouching down to stare at her properly.

The latter pursed her lips, still reluctant to look at him.

Lewis raised a cool finger to tap on Josephine’s cheek lightly, soon realizing that she didn’t attempt to

dodge him this time.

He remained silent for the time being. The next moment, he whisked her into his arms from the ground

and took her back to the car.

Josephine didn’t show any signs of escaping compared to the last two times she was brought to the

car. This time, she sat on her seat quietly and allowed Lewis to put on her seatbelt for her.

When the onlookers witnessed this scene, they couldn’t help but gossip among themselves.

Wasn’t Lewis rumored to be in a relationship with another celebrity? Who on earth was the woman in

his car?

Thanks to the internet, the man was now portrayed to be loyal and affectionate. He refused to leave

Sierra’s side despite the fact that she and Johan were involved in so many scandals together. After

those scandals erupted, the paparazzi even took pictures of Lewis and Sierra shopping at a mall

together.

Naturally, the aforementioned man didn’t bother glancing at the crowd nor pondering what they were

thinking about. He quickly got into his car and left as well.

Once they reached Styx Mansion, Lewis exited the car and circled around the hood to reach the front

passenger’s seat. Then, he opened the door and carried Josephine out of the car.

The young woman hugged his neck while staring at him pointedly.

He took her back to the bedroom and placed her on the bed. It was then he noticed her current

appearance; the sight of her filthy clothes and damp hair caused by the snowflakes landing on top of

her head made him frown. “Take them off.”

Stunned, Josephine turned her head away from the man without doing anything.

Lewis could care less about Josephine right now. He headed into the walk-in closet and grabbed a pair

of pajamas for her before chucking them onto the spot next to her. Then, he turned around and left the

room while making sure that he had closed the door behind him.

Once he left, Josephine finally turned to look at the pair of light yellow pajamas.

She finally changed into them after a while.

Once she was done, she could hear Mrs. Larson knocking on the door outside. “Madam, it’s

time for dinner.”

Upon hearing the housekeeper’s reminder, Josephine rubbed her stomach. She was starting to get

hungry since she didn’t eat at all today.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Larson remembered what Lewis had ordered her earlier, so she opened the door and

got ready to help Josephine down the stairs.

The latter stared at the older woman for a moment before gesturing, “I’m not ‘madam.””

Mrs. Larson looked surprised, but she managed to squeeze out an awkward smile, not knowing what to

reply. She reached out to help Josephine up from the bed. “Let’s go have dinner.”

Josephine could stand up from the bed with the housekeeper’s help. Then, she slowly hobbled down

the stairs.

Lewis was already seated in the dining room. He had changed into a light gray casual outfit, and his

hair hung limply. Even though he still wore a poker face, he did look younger than

usual.

Josephine could feel her heartbeat accelerating when she noticed his current appearance.

Right now, Lewis looked exactly like the teenage boy she remembered, apart from his cold and distant

eyes. Just the sight of him was able to calm her down.

The woman then walked to the seat across from Lewis and sat down, her eyes still trained on him the

whole time. She studied him while being suspicious of his identity at the same time.

Lewis, who was scrolling through his phone, suddenly raised his head to look at Josephine. The

moment they made eye contact with each other, she quickly looked down immediately.

The man sitting across from her gave her a feeling that he acted like Lewis, but he wasn’t him

at all.

Lewis didn’t utter a word to Josephine. He put down his phone before digging into the meal.

Mrs. Larson poured Josephine a glass of warm water, intending to serve her throughout the meal.

“Madam, you should eat as well.”

The latter finally snapped out of her trance. She picked up her silverware and started eating.

Dinner was very silent.

Once Josephine was done with her meal, Mrs. Larson helped her to the couch in the living room.

There, Dr. Halliday checked on her injuries meticulously.

He carefully rolled up her pants, revealing the old bite mark that still adorned her leg. A thick layer of

scab had already formed on top of the wound crisscrossed down her leg. It was a

terrifying sight, to say the least.

Then again, that wound was healing quite well. Once the scab fell off the skin, Josephine would be

done with the recovery process.

On the other hand, there was a massive patch of redness on her injured knee. Dr. Halliday poked at

her kneecap carefully while asking, “Does it hurt?”

Josephine nodded truthfully.

The doctor wanted to suggest her to get an X-Ray scan done at the hospital, but he decided to keep

his mouth shut upon noticing Lewis’ blank look.

“There’s a possibility that you hurt your bone. Well, it shouldn’t be a big problem if you’re still able to

walk around. I’ll apply some ointment to your knee.”

Dr. Halliday started monologuing while fishing out a tube of medical ointment from his kit before

applying some to Josephine’s injured knee. Then, he started massaging it lightly to get rid of the

bruises.

It was excruciating for Josephine. She could only grip the armrest tightly while shivering violently. Soon,

beads of cold sweat seeped out of her forehead.

Meanwhile, Lewis was sitting on an armchair that was diagonally ahead of her. From the time he laid

his eyes on her till now, he had only uttered a single sentence to her.

Those who happened to notice him would definitely know that he was in an extremely bad mood right

now. No one knew the reason why.

“I’m done.” Dr. Halliday put away the ointment as he glanced at Lewis, who was still reading

the newspapers.

Being a sensible person, the doctor shot Mrs. Larson a look as a hint for her to leave the living. room

immediately.

Both scurried away hurriedly, leaving the living room shrouded in a more silent atmosphere.

Josephine could only sit on the couch nervously while stealing glances at Lewis from time to

time.

He didn’t even bother to look at her. All she could do was sit on the couch.

Suddenly, Lewis received a phone call. He got up from his armchair with his phone in hand and walked

past Josephine. At the same time, she could smell a light waft of gardenia’s scent coming from him.

The fact that such a cold and emotionless man like him was wearing such a light and simple cologne

was very jarring.

If one didn’t look at Lewis’ face, they would have thought of him as a gentle person.

Josephine’s gaze was trained on the man’s form the whole time. After watching him climbing the stairs

while clutching his phone, she finally looked away when he disappeared from his line of sight.

After that, the young woman remained seated on the couch the whole time. She felt that this place

didn’t belong to her, hence the reason why she didn’t dare walk around.

She had no idea how long she had sat there. Lewis had spent an hour on his phone call. By the time

he came out of his study, it was already a few minutes past 10 pm.

As the man stood on the second floor while looking down, he noticed Josephine sitting on the couch

silently.
