Chapter 5022
Gromo snapped back to his senses as he called out to Darryl. Are you trying to scare me,
kid? That Golden Pill's a rare treasure. Why would it come into effect so quickly?"
I'm telling you, nothing bad happened to me, and it's been so long since I've taken it. Do
you think you can buy time? It's your fault that the Palace Master can't take the Golden
Pill. Apologize immediately; don't think you can try to worm out of this."
As he finished speaking, Gromo turned to Suci. "Palace Master, it's been proven that
Darryl was lying the whole time. Please be fair in your judgment.
The moment the words reverberated across the room, all eyes turned to Suci.
Everyone knew what would happen to Darryl then; it all came down to Suci's sentence.
After all, it was evident that Gromo had taken the Golden Pill for quite some time, but
nothing had happened.
It was evident that the effects of the Golden Pill were still present. The Golden Pill was a
priceless treasure, just as Gromo had said, and it would not take effect immediately.
Suci fell mute as the situation arose, her beautiful features remaining immovably still.

clutched at his chest and fell to the ground.
All that was visible was Gromo's pale face as beads of sweat dripped from his forehead.
He seemed to have trouble putting a sentence together, stuttering, "I'm so, so cold..."
Gromo felt as if he had been plunged into an ice bath. The bone-chilling cold made him
feel as if his spirit had been frozen solid.
Indeed, that was caused by the faulty Golden Pill.
Darryl had been right. It was extremely risky to take the Golden Pill after its effects had
worn off. Gromo had not reacted because the Golden Pill had lost its effect for too long,
and its reverse impacts had yet to surface.
What was going on?
Everyone was shocked.
All they could see was Elder Gromo turning white as a sheet, the sweat on his body
freezing into little icicles. It was a terrifying sight.
Darryl shook his head. He sighed. Elder Gromo was far too stubborn. He would have been
fine if he had taken Darryl's word that the Golden Pill had lost effect, but he had to throw a
fit about it.
"Hot! I'm burning up!"
Gromo shouted in agony as the onlookers watched in disbelief and confusion. The icicles
on his body melted instantaneously, replaced by a molten-hot glow.
Gromo had been freezing when suddenly it appeared as though he had been tossed into a
fire. His body trembled violently as though his spirit was ablaze. He would never be able to
forget the sensation.
What...
The crowd immediately reacted as well, yelling in disbelief.
"It seems like he was right." "Yes, the Golden Pill does seem to have lost its effect."
"Could've fooled me! I can't believe the Sect Master was knowledgeable enough to tell
with a single glance that something was up with the Golden pill." 1
As the conversation spread throughout the crowd, the distrust that had previously
pervaded people's looks toward Darryl was replaced with a sense of utmost respect and

Whew!
Cormac's fear turned to relief as he sighed and placed a hand on Darryl's shoulder. He
smiled and said, "You are something, Brother Darryl. I find it incredible that you could
detect something was off just like that. Amazing, incredible."
Cormac did not even glance in Gromo's direction.
The crowd turned to sing their praises to Darryl. It was as if a switch had gone off in them.
Just a second ago, they had suspected Darryl of ill intentions, but they had changed sides
instantly after what had happened.
Suci sighed in relief.
She was grateful that she held off taking the Golden Pill. Otherwise, she would have ended
up like Gromo.
Everyone's attention suddenly turned to Darryl. Gromo felt utterly neglected.
"Argh!"
Suddenly, Gromo shouted as his face creased in pain, and he began to roll on the ground.
"It hurts... I'm going to die. I'm going to die..."
The overwhelming agony took over Gromo's senses, alternating between freezing cold and
scorching hot. It was a feeling that rivaled death.
