Chapter 4978
All that could be seen were the three figures locked in a heated battle, zipping through the
air in the office and sending ripples of energy around them.
Wendy could hear the ruckus from outside, but she was too afraid to enter.
Over on another end, in the Cryolet Continent.
After using the Garans to scare off Kendra, Darryl sat down and meditated to rest.
Upon getting enough rest, Darryl asked the Garans a few more questions. After that, he
walked out of the main hall.
After looking around the surrounding towers and being unable to find any important leads,
Darryl continued to search inside.
After walking for a while, he saw a chasm that seemed to hold hidden power. The chasm
was about a hundred meters wide, and it appeared bottomless. It was lined with a chain
bridge.
Across the chain bridge was a giant space. Where the bridge and the space connected was
a gigantic plaque. The plaque was a little over ten meters tall, and appeared to sparkle in
the sunlight from afar. It was covered in gold quotes.
In front of the plaque was a lithe figure, staring at the golden carvings with a dazed

'F*ck, her again?'
Darryl had only caught sight of a silhouette and frowned instantly. It was none other than
Kendra, whom he had just scared away.
'Crap, she definitely thought I died earlier. She's going to give me hell when she sees me
now.'
Darryl moved to turn back from where he was on the chain bridge.
He had thought it through. He would wait until Kendra had left to cross the chain bridge
again.
Clink clink!
To Darry's demise, he had moved with a little too much vigor in his haste to get out. The
already shaky chain bridge let out a series of metallic clangs as it swayed.
"Who's there?"
Kendra turned around when she heard the sound. Her expression morphed from shock into
one of indignance.
"How dare you lie to me, Darryl Darby?!"
When Kendra saw the beasts drown Darryl, she felt a twinge of pity amidst her panic. After
all, Darryl did not only know how to open the Heavenly Secret Lock, but he also knew how
to speak to beasts.
It would be far too much of a shame if he just died like that.
She would have never thought that Darryl would appear completely unharmed before her
eyes.
As the head pupil of the Godly Eagle Sect, Kendra was quick-witted enough to tell
immediately that Darryl had orchestrated the entire thing earlier just to trick her.
"To hell with you!"
Kendra grew furious as she roared, drawing her long sword and soaring in Darryl's
direction.
The long sword let out a deafening hum, piercing through the air.
'F*ck me!’
After seeing the enraged expression on Kendra's face, Darryl was startled. He turned to
run, but there was no way for him to do so on the shaky chain bridge he stood on.
One wrong move and they would both end up falling off.
At the thought, Darryl chose to stand wherever he was with a pained smile as he called
out, "Please don't be rash, Kendra! Listen to me. I was truly almost eaten by those beasts.

enough to get out alive."
Kendra was a fierce woman, and there was no way Darryl would tell the truth. All he could
do was make up a lie on the spot.
Kendra stopped with a half-believing look appearing on her face. "Are you sure you're not
lying to me?"
Darryl flashed a pained smile. "We're friends, aren't we? I'd never lie to you."
As he spoke, he walked over slowly.
Friends?
Kendra pursed her lips in disdain. "We're far from friends. Don't flatter yourself."
Just then, Darryl had gotten off the chain bridge. Sensing her mockery, he smirked to
himself.
Kendra seemed to have forgotten how she had waited on him hand and foot back at the
palace for how proud she acted.
Fine.
He would get her back when he had the chance.
At the thought, Darryl cast a glance around him. Upon seeing the giant stone plaque, he
stopped short.
"Gold Seal Scripture?"
