Chapter 3952
"Hold on!"
Elder Wind strode toward them, halting Chester and the rest’s execution at the most critical moment.
The Hidden Hero Sect members held themselves back upon hearing Elder Wind. He was the leader of the Four
Elders, and so he was highly respected by the Hidden Hero Sect.
Veron frowned. "What is it, Elder Wind?" 3
Elder Wind took a deep, heavy breath and looked at Chester and the rest. "Sect Master, avenging your loved one
is indeed necessary, but the person who killed the late Sect Master was Darryl Darby. For every grievance,
someone is responsible; for every debt, there is a debtor. Please reconsider before you implicate the innocents in
this."
Elder Wind paused and took a moment to contemplate before he spoke. "Darryl Darby has always been
mysterious about his whereabouts. The best option is to lure him out with the Carter family. Killing them means
killing your only bait," he said in utmost seriousness. 2
Elder Wind had fought hand in hand with Darryl just ten days ago, and he understood his power and ability.
If Chester and the rest were executed, Darryl would definitely go berserk, and no one in the Hidden Hero Sect
would be able to go near him then. It was better to keep Chester and the rest as hostages. Darryl would
definitely be wary, but taking him down would be possible.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtVeron's beautiful face darkened as she thought about it.
A few moments later, she nodded in agreement. "Fine, I'll spare them for now. Keep them in the cave behind the
mountain." 2
Veron really wanted to execute Chester and the rest, but Elder Wind made a good point.
Darryl's movement had always been unpredictable—killing them would mean losing
Darryl.
'The cave behind the mountain?'
Elder Wind paused for a moment before smiling upon hearing her idea. "That's a good
idea."
The Hidden Hero Sect had a mountain behind their altar, a forbidden area. A cave was
situated there, and a scaled dragon lived inside the save. The scaled dragon was nearing
its cultivation's critical moment where it needed to devour the power of human cultivators.
1
Imprisoning Chester and the rest in the cave would guarantee the loss of their powers,
engulfed by the scaled dragon. That would render them vulnerable and powerless. 1
The Hidden Hero Sect could vent their anger while not worrying about killing Chester and
the rest. They still had to use the hostages as bait to lure Darryl out. It was truly killing two
birds with one stone!
Elder Wind approved of the idea. He ordered the Hidden Hero Sect members to escort
Chester and the rest to the cave.
Chester, Yvette, and Zoey did not feel any relief just because they had escaped death.
They had many questions and doubts about the situation.
'Darryl killed the Hidden Hero Sect's previous Sect Master, Agatha Lange?'
'How is that possible? Darryl went to the Godly Region and had not been back since. How
could he have killed Agathe Lange?'
'Something is off,' Chester thought.
He verbalized his confusion, "Miss Lange, Darryl had left for the Godly Region about a
week ago; he could not have killed your ex Sect Master. There must be some
misunderstandings."
Yvette and the rest nodded in agreement.
"Shut up!"
Veron Lange refused to listen to reason, she growled, "Darryl Darby was dressed in black
when he threw my mother off a cliff. Plenty of people from the Five Poison Sect witnessed
it. There were only a handful of people in the world who could defeat my mother. Stop
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmdefending him."
The Five Poison Sect?
Chester and the rest looked at each other, perplexed. Something was definitely off.
Chester wanted to explain further, but he held back upon seeing Veron's cold face.
After trudging for more than a few hours, they arrived at the cave behind the mountain where the Hidden Hero
Sect's altar was located.
Chester and the rest felt their heart palpitate at the sight of the vast, pitch-black cave. A life-threatening aura
seeped through the cave, sending trembles down everyone’s spines.
Roar!
Before they could recover from their anxiety, a deafening and gut wrenching roar traveled from down below.
The menacing aura surrounding the cave seemed to have thickened by ten folds!
Chester and Yvette exchanged a fearful gaze. Their faces were painted with shades of pure terror.
They could sense a powerful, ravening beast was in the cave.
Chester and the rest felt their hearts thump in terror as their blood boiled.
"In you go, f*ckers!"
A couple of Hidden Hero Sect members shoved them into the cave as instructed by Veron.
Chester and the rest fell into the cave, helpless and unprepared as they were bound by ropes.
