It could be worse.‘ I roll my eyes at Ghost as I try to roll myself over in the massive bed, it’s stupidly

huge for one person and is more like a slap in the face that Cas isn’t here with me.

I mean sure, we could be separated from our mate, heavily pregnant and not know anyone,‘ I can feel

Ghost not appreciating my sarcasm as I finally heave myself off the bed. ‘They haven’t even taken us

that far which means they have only done this to screw with Cas.‘ We can’t have driven for more than

an hour or two before Elder Iris and her bodyguard pulled into this hotel.

‘Of course they are, it’s what The Elder’s do.‘ I sigh as I waddle over to the bathroom, my stomach has

made it so walking is difficult, I’m not sure when I bloomed, I woke up one morning and there was just

this massive mountain hanging off my body.

‘Why do the Pack’s bow to their every will, surely the Alpha’s can look after their own Packs?‘ Ghost

just shrugs her shoulders at me as I finish up in the bathroom and start to waddle back to the bed. For

some reason I’m knackered all the time lately, I don’t even know if it’s normal because other than Elder

Iris I haven’t seen anyone. I’m dying to know if everything is alright because after my last scan I’m still a

little on edge, finally making it to the bed I lay down and start to rub over my stomach.

my stomach. It’s a really cool sensation and never seems to not make me laugh. A knock at the door

has me pulling the blanket over my stomach. I do everything I can to hide my stomach whenever Elder

Iris comes around. It doesn’t feel right for her to see my baby’s foot sticking out when Cas hasn’t seen

it.

“Come in Iris.” I leave her title off like an insult, Cas once taught me that it wasn’t a great insult to a

shifter not to address them by their title. I sit up straight in the bed when a man walks into the room

instead of Iris, he’s just as old looking as Iris but he’s wearing jeans and a button down shirt instead of

a long red cloak.

“Eva, I’m Thomas. I believe you have met my granddaughter,” squinting my eyes as he closes the door

and walks over to the bed I realise I’ve seen his amazing blue eyes before.

“You must be Anna’s grandfather? Thomas, right?” He smiles at me and holds out his hand for me to

shake, I slowly reach out my own hand and shake it. “Take a seat, sorry but getting up is kind of hard

these days.” I wave my hand at the end of the bed and he takes a seat with a warm smile on his face.

“I have been given permission to come and see you, to help prepare you for the council meeting.” His

eyes are fixed on my forehead as he talks, wiping my hands across my head, I check my palm to make

sure I don’t have dirt on my head. “Oh sweetheart, you haven’t seen a doctor since you have been

here?” I shake my head no, I’m not sure how he knows though.

“How do you know that?” I bring my blanket further up my chest, suddenly I feel very exposed.

“It’s a talent, anyway the council meeting is taking place in three days and I’m afraid right now it doesn’t

look so good.” I gulp as his face turn

serious. “I think Elder Iris is pushing for you to be executed once your pup is born.” I can’t help the

tears that fill my eyes as I wrap my hands. around my stomach.

“She can’t, my pup needs me. Cas needs me, my Pack,” I’m suddenly realising how full my life has

become. “Is there nothing we can do? Have they even spoken to Jeremy?”

“Not that I know of, I’ve spoken to some of the Elders and as far as they are concerned you are marked

and carrying an Alpha’s mate therefore you are a Luna.” His large hand comes down on my ankle in a

comforting way, “this isn’t over yet we just need to have a good defence for you.” Nodding my head I sit

up straighter so he’s got my full attention.

“What do I need to do?” I have a feeling I can trust Thomas, he’s Anna‘ s grandfather so he must be

trustworthy.

“Well first off we have a letter from Fraction, Anna and Patrick. They all state that you are a kind and

loving young lady and they are excited to see what you and Cas do together in Everfur.” I’m actually

surprised to hear that all three of them have written to The Elders on my behalf, “Darryl is coming by

soon and he will be speaking to them as well. All you need to do is tell the truth, I know it’s hard but I

need you to tell them exactly how Jeremy treated you.” He’s staring at my head again as he nods, “yes,

all of the abuse and all the times he hurt you. You need to show them that there is no way in hell you

would have told Jeremy anything secret.” I nod my head in understanding, I can’t say I’m looking

forward to speaking to a room full of people about Jeremy but if it will get me back to Cas then I will do

it.



“I can do that,” I hiss and rub my stomach as a pain in my left side makes itself known.

“Somethings wrong.” I gasp out. I barely register Thomas jumping up from the bed and dashing for the

door, he moves so quickly I swear he blinks from one spot to another.

“Get the Doctor, something is wrong with Luna Eva and her pup.” I don’t know who he’s talking to but

I’m too busy trying to make this pain stop to look up.

“We aren’t supposed to bring anyone up here,” I hear a male voice I haven’t heard before, there is a

loud banging and then the scent of blood fills the room. Lifting the covers I look between my legs but

I’m glad to see the blood isn’t coming from me, I cry out loudly as yet another pain blasts through me.

“Get the Doctor now or when her Alpha gets here I will personally hold you down while he rips you

apart.” Thomas growls loudly and I have to say I’m actually impressed at how demanding he sounds.

“Lay back Eva.” I feel a cool cloth on my forehead as I open my eyes. shoving Thomas’s hand out of

the way as I press the cloth more firmly onto my head. “You passed out from the pain.” He whispers as

he sits next to me. “The doctor is coming, just hold on.” I nod at Thomas as I close my eyes, I don’t

know why I should trust him but I do.
