Cecilia approached Zach with evident frustration and confronted him. “Why did you humiliate me like that
in front of everyone? You’ve never treated me like that before, Zach.”
Cecilia was agitated. Madelyn suggested, “I’ll wait for you in the car.”
But Zach held Madelyn’s hand firmly, indicating his decision. “For work matters, speak to Kevin. As for. personal
issues, there’s nothing to discuss.”

Madelyn sat in the car and she could not hear Zach and Cecilia’s conversation. When she glanced back, they had
already moved away.
Madelyn twirled the bracelet on her wrist, contemplating. ‘Cecilia always manages to surprise Zach with things I
can’t match. Last time it was a huge contract. This time, who knows? For businessmen, profit often outweighs
personal matters.’
Madelyn felt restless. She took off the suit jacket and left the car, walking out of the parking lot.
Three minutes later, Zach called Madelyn. “I have to handle something. Kevin will take you home.”
Madelyn, already amidst the snowy street and passersby, refused. “No need, I have errands too.”
Zach’s tone became stern, “Stay in the car. I don’t want you going back alone. I’ll be quick.”
But Madelyn hung up, unwilling to wait, especially for Zach. To her, it felt like an empty charade.
In the hotel’s sixth-floor suite, Zach watched from the window as Madelyn vanished into the street. He
tried to track her phone, but she had turned it off.

The man removed his helmet, revealing bleached blonde hair and a youthful face, like a character from a comic
book. He replied with youthful arrogance, “You’ve got the wrong person. Is he your boyfriend?”
