The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 787
Dalton was sleeping peacefully in Madelyn’s arms. Whenever thunder rumbled, she would cover his ears to shield
him from the startling noise.
Zach approached the bedside and picked up the cup of water that had been partly consumed. Madelyn stopped
him, saying, “The medicine that Dalton took is in there.”
Zach paused, brought the cup to his nose, and took a sniff. His face displayed a slight frown before he carefully set
the cup back down. He then advised, “Try to avoid giving him medicine. It can have side effects and isn’t good for
his health.”
Madelyn replied, “Lower your voice. He just fell asleep.”
Tonight, Madelyn was finally able to enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep. Zach lay beside her without any further

In the middle of the night, Madelyn was awakened by a phone call. Zach reached for the phone and left the room to
answer it. Madelyn couldn’t hear their conversation. The call ended relatively quickly, and she soon drifted back to
sleep.
The following morning, the sky remained overcast. Madelyn only woke up around noon, and the space beside her
was cold, indicating that Zach had been up for a while.
As she got up and freshened herself, she carried Dalton downstairs to prepare his meal. However, Zach was
nowhere to be found, and heavy rain was pouring outside.
Madelyn sat on the couch. She placed Dalton on her lap to change his diaper. Margaret approached them with the
prepared formula. In a distracted tone, Madelyn inquired, “Has he gone out?”
“Who?” Margaret inquired, momentarily confused. Then, she quickly realized who Madelyn was asking about and
explained, “Oh, you mean Mr. Jardin? He left early this morning and hasn’t returned yet. His assistant was here, so I
assume there’s some business at the company.”
Madelyn remained silent. Margaret continued, “Sofia asked for some time off. She mentioned an urgent family
matter that she needs to attend to.”
Madelyn replied indifferently with a simple “Hmm.”
In the three days since Zach’s departure, Madelyn had found a sense of peace in his absence.
This noon, it became evident that Dalton had caught a cold. Despite several days of medication, his condition
wasn’t improving. Reluctantly, Madelyn decided to take him to the hospital. Margaret prepared some essentials to
accompany them.
As Madelyn was getting ready to leave with the child, a servant answered the phone and conveyed, “Ms. Jent, Mr.
Jardin is on the line. He wishes to speak with you.”

Madelyn had little inclination to take the call, and as she was about to decline it, the servant approached and placed
the phone in front of her. After a brief hesitation, she picked it up but remained silent.
Zach’s voice came through, “I’ve already called for the doctor. The weather’s been rather bad lately, so you really
shouldn’t go out. Please don’t make me worry!”
Madelyn wasn’t surprised that Zach was aware of her intentions. All the household staff acted as Zach’s eyes and
ears, providing him daily reports of Madelyn’s activities.
In response, she firmly said, “Where I intend to go is none of your concern. Even if the doctor arrives, I still plan to
take him to the hospital. Zach, you have no authority to restrict my freedom.”
“Listen to me! Don’t provoke me!” Zach’s tone had grown icy. Madelyn clenched her lips, her irritation growing. The
servant came over and informed her, “Ms. Jent, the doctor has arrived.”
Looking through the floor-to-ceiling window in the living room, Madelyn observed a familiar car as it parked outside.
The servant proceeded to greet the doctor at the door.
The family doctor Zach had mentioned was Kai, who was holding a medical kit.
