I just cback into your life from nowhere and now I'm acting entitled. I'm sorry. My thoughts and emotions are just all over the place." "It's okay, Selena." I should pull her into my arms and comfort her. That's what she needs right now, but just the thought of doing that makes King growl in disapproval. It's like I'm about to cheat on Ashanti.
"I uh... I completely understand where you're coming from. But rest assured, sooner or later I will tell you everything you need to know. I promise." "Okay." She mops her drenched face with the back of her palms and nods at me.
"I promise to tell you when I'm ready." "Thank you." I take another step forward and pull her into my embrace, making sure to block King out so he doesn't start barking at me. Selene rests her head on my chest and continues sobbing while I gently stroke her soft, blonde hair.
In the past, a single contact with her would send sparks flying all over my body like I had been shocked by electric current, but now, I feel nothing.
