Chapter 1656

“Lea, go and pick a guest room for yourself. This house belongs to a friend of mine. Though they’re not currently

living here, we must respect their belongings and only occupy one room.”

Lea, always understanding, nodded and then asked, “Mom, what about my books and homework? They’re still at

that hotel, right?”

Bertha sighed, “We’ll figure out how to get them in a few days.”

“Okay!”

Lea obediently headed off to pick her room.

After Lea left the room, Bertha sat alone on the couch, pondering over her marriage with Thaddeus. Suddenly, her

mind drifted to the lady who had helped her today.

That lady, Ellinor, was quite unique. No wonder Marcus, even with his amnesia, didn’t fall for Sophia. Sophia was

simply too selfish compared to Ellinor.

Moreover, Bertha couldn’t shake the feeling that Ellinor looked a bit like…

Speak of the devil, her phone rang!

Bertha’s train of thought was interrupted by her ringtone. She pulled out her phone and saw that it was her best

friend.

Upon answering, the anxious voice of her friend Marlinie came through, “Bertha, where are you? Thaddeus is

looking for you. He even called me!”

Bertha had already guessed that Marlinie was calling because of Thaddeus, who she didn’t want to talk about at the

moment.

“I’m fine. I’m staying at a friend’s house in Greenhaven. Don’t worry, Marlinie, and please don’t tell him about it.”

Hearing that Bertha was safe, Marlinie let out a sigh of relief, “What happened? You two had another fight? You

were just fine when we talked earlier, how did you run away with Lea again?”

Bertha replied, “Let’s not talk about him. It just makes me angry.”

Marlinie said, “Alright then! It’s good for you and Lea to have some peace, but please be careful, okay?”

Bertha nodded, “Don’t worry, Marlinie! I might not care too much about my own safety, but I’ll never compromise

Lea’s. We’ll be fine.”

“Alright, call me if anything comes up!”

“I will.”

Just as Marlinie was about to hang up, Bertha stopped her, “Wait, Marlinie! I have something to ask you!”

Marlinie patiently responded, “What is it?”

Bertha frowned, “Marlinie, about your daughter Pearl. Are you sure she passed away?”

Hearing the mention of her deceased daughter, Marlinie fell silent for a long time on the other end of the line. “Of

course I’m sure.” Bertha said, “But I saw a girl today who looks so much like you. And she’s about the same age as

Pearl would have been.”

“What? That can’t be. Maybe she just looks similar by chance!”

“Her name is Ellinor, last name Mendoza. I’ll send you her picture later. It could be that I’m thinking too much into

this.”

A sleek, extended limousine pulled up in front of the Blanchet Villa.

First to exit was Ellinor, who then turned around to help her three children out of the car. Veronica followed suit and

got out.

After saying goodbye to the others in the limo, they led the children inside.

The limo didn’t drive off, but remained parked outside the Blanchet Villa for some time, until Ellinor’s figure

disappeared from sight.

Belinda gave a long sigh, breaking the silence, “Ellinor must be so confused right now. The man she’s been waiting

for doesn’t even remember her.”

Chase drew her closer, “Not necessarily. I think she cares more about Mr. Blanchet’s safety than his memory. As

long as he’s alive, that’s all that matters to her.”
