Chapter 1445

Sophia, fearful of waking the child, had finally managed to lull Tristan to sleep. She heaved a sigh of relief,

whispering, “Alright, Tristan’s asleep now. We can go out for dinner. I’ve ordered some red wine and steak from the

hotel.”

The man waved her off. “You go ahead/I’m not hungry.”

Sophia furrowed her brows. “You skipped lunch. How can you not be hungry?”

He insisted. “You go on. If I get hungry later, I’ll go eat.”

Sophia felt slightly irked, sensing that the man was deliberately avoiding dining with her.

But she was helpless. Arguing about having dinner together now might wake Tristan up. She turned to leave,

planning to eat alone.

“Sophia.”

She had barely turned when she heard the man’s deep voice calling her name.

Sophia was pleasantly taken aback and turned around. “Marcus, what is it?”

Marcus, his eyes as deep as the night, gazed at her. “I want to get some fresh air tomorrow. Staying in the hotel all

day is suffocating.”

Sophia was taken aback, and her eyes flashed warily. “Marcus, the environment here is not as good as our

hometown in M State. I’m worried that you might have an allergic reaction due to the poor air quality.”

Marcus seemed to have anticipated this response, showing no surprise.

But he still insisted on going out. “Do you really think I’m some greenhouse flower? Have you ever thought that this

way, I might never be able to stand on my own?” Sophia raised an eyebrow, noticing the dissatisfaction in his eyes.

After a moment, she nodded. “Fine! Tomorrow morning, I’ll discuss the acquisition with the local company. I’ll come

back for you and Tristan in the afternoon, and we can go out for a walk.”

“Thank you.” Marcus replied, his emotions as elusive as ever.

Still, his gratitude felt distant to Sophia.

A husband and wife shouldn’t be so formal.

It was a weekend, and the weather was splendid..

After breakfast, Veronica was eager to take the kids out for a picnic to enjoy the spring atmosphere.

Ellinor was engrossed in her laptop and reviewing real-time business news, so she showed little interest.

That was until the three little ones surrounded her and gazed up at her with puppy-dog eyes.

After lifting her eyes from the laptop screen to the children, she felt a strong pull at her heartstrings.

Unable to resist their longing, she closed her laptop.

“Alright! I’ll join you guys on your trip. Your aunt has nothing better to do than coax you into playing all day.”

Veronica approached, pouting, “Ellinor, I’m doing this for their own good.

Think about it. They have no homework from preschool, and it’s so boring at home on weekends. Why not take this

opportunity to go out and play?

Once they start elementary school, they’ll have homework on weekends, and there will be no chance to play.

Moreover, you’re also busy with work. You finally have a weekend off, so we can relax together. What’s wrong with

that?”

Ellinor shot her a disdainful look. “You’re the one who suggested this picnic. Have you prepared the food we need?”
