Chapter 2385

“I dunno,” Ivy mumbled to herself, unsure if telling Alyssa about the whole thing had been the right call.

Alyssa was quick to act, sending Ivy a text in no time, reassuring her not to worry and that she was

safely back home.

Ivy replied, [Alright. You get some rest now, goodnight.]

Dean was puzzled to see Alyssa rush back from Ivy’s so hastily, especially since she had planned on

staying the night.

“What’s got you back so soon? Couldn’t find comfort at Ivy’s place? That place could use a makeover.

You should’ve convinced her to come stay with us.”

Alyssa waved her hand dismissively. “Ivy’s got enough room for me, I’m sure. But I came back because

there’s something else afoot.”

She was visibly fuming, which even got Dean a bit concerned.

“Has something happened?”

Alyssa snorted, “Ha, we must be getting senile in our old age, letting that woman wreak havoc under

our roof!”

“What are you implying? Hasn’t she been behaving herself lately?”

Dean poured Alyssa a cup of water, setting it down in front of her to cool.

“The other night, I caught her sneaking around the kitchen and the study. Do you know what she was

up to? Turns out, she’s been secretly snapping cozy pictures with Balfour and then ‘accidentally’ sent

them to Ivy!”

Dean gasped, shocked that Mara could be so audacious right under their noses, trying to drive a

wedge between them.

“Such a nasty piece of work!”

“Exactly, and if I as much as breathe a word against her, Balfour gets all defensive. Sure, her sister

saved Balfour’s life, but he needs to open his eyes to what her sister is really like! Ivy’s a good girl, and

she kept all this hurt to herself. She didn’t make a scene with Balfour, just bottled it all up inside. Breaks

my heart, she’s so gentle. If I hadn’t pressed her today, who knows how long she would’ve kept it to

herself?”

Dean sighed, too, “Ivy’s always been sensitive, and this will weigh on her for a long while. But you did

well talking it out with her today. Still, it doesn’t add up. Why would Balfour pose for pictures with

Mara?”

“That’s the crux of it. I popped over to see Balfour the other day and he was out like a light. Never seen

him like that before, and I suspect Mara drugged him.”

her way,

Dean was beside himself with worry. “That woman will stop at nothing to get viper! Thankfully, Balfour’s

still up and about without any apparent side effects.”

Alyssa nodded, “Otherwise, I’d be having it out with that woman right now. We need to investigate what

really happened that night. And we better figure out what she drugged Balfour with.”

Dean agreed wholeheartedly, so Howard Mansion was all lit up in the dead of night, calling all the

household staff for a meeting.”

“Madam, Sir, why are you both up at this ungodly hour?”

Alyssa gave a wry smile. “Got a bit of a situation, and I need some input from everyone.

Once we get to the bottom of this, we’ll head to bed. Sorry for the trouble, folks.”
