"l just accidentally left something at the construction site, so | went back to get it. As | was passing by the tent, | overheard it."

Cindy blurted out anxiously, "It was Tomas and Jerry talking. Sounded like they were worried about missing an auspicious tand

the bad consequences that might follow. So, they decided to stick to the original plan and pour concrete at 1:30 am."

"Jerry?" Sophia frowned, "Wasn't he replaced?"

She clearly remembered that Jerry's construction team had been confirmed as being switched out.

"I'm not sure what's up exactly. | was afraid they'd see me, so | didn't stick around. But I'm positive that it was Jerry's voice |

heard." Cindy said, her voice laced with urgency, "I did catch something about them still going with Jerry's team for the pour

because they're more familiar with the process and stuff. The new team surely wouldn't dare to defy the head office's orders to

start work in the middle of the night. But | didn't catch everything they said."

"Got it," Sophia replied.

"So, what do we do now?" Cindy asked, "Do we go to the site to watch them work, or do we try to stop them?"

"I need to get the lowdown first." Sophia said, "You go get srest."

"Okay." Cindy nodded, "Callif you need anything."

"Will do."

After hanging up, Sophia called Kent, who answered quickly; he was driving, still on the highway.

"Kent, | heard something about Tomas and Jerry planning to go ahead with the construction tonight. Have you heard anything

about this?" Sophia inquired.

Kent was taken aback, "Who told you that? | didn't give such an order, and Mr. Crawley wouldn't just switch things up last minute."

"It was something Cindy overheard." Sophia explained, "It was discussed by Tomas and Jerry; they're bringing back Jerry's team. If

you've got anyone at the site, maybe have them keep an eye out. I'm heading over there myself. I'm worried if Jerry's team takes

over, things could go sideways."

"Alright."

Kent's expression turned serious, "Just be careful on your own, okay?"

"I will."

Sophia hung up, quickly changed her clothes, and hailed a cab to the construction site. She couldn't fathom why Tomas and Jerry

would go against Brandon's orders.

They were just employees; the company and the project's future weren't that crucial to them. There was no need for them to take

such a big risk unless they had another agenda.

Sophia could only think of one reason: Nell. That was why she had to get to the site to understand the situation thoroughly.

After hanging up with Sophia, Kent also quickly called the chief engineer at the construction site to ask if there was any truth to the

rumor about working tonight.

The chief engineer was clearly confused, "No, that's not happening.”

It was Tomas who was in charge of that, and everything had been reported and scheduled for tomorrow morning. He'd already left

work to get an early start tomorrow.

"Head back to the site and check things out." Kent instructed, "I'm still on the road; it'll takea while to get there."

"Alright."

The chief engineer didn't dare delay and hung up promptly. Kent then called Tomas but didn't directly ask if they were starting

tonight. Instead, he beat around the bush, asking about the preparations at the site.

"Everything's ready to go. We can start on ttomorrow morning. Don't worry, Kent," Tomas said cheerfully over the phone, not a

hint of guilt in his voice.

"Good."

Kent responded with a smile. As he turned his attention back to the road, he caught a glimpse of a black sedan whizzing by, a

familiar license plate catching his eye. Kent's actions paused slightly, and a frown formed on his brow.

He recognized that car; it was Daniel's. The direction on the highway was towards Zion City.

What was Daniel doing heading to Zion City so late? Aimost simultaneously, Kent remembered what Sophia had said about Tomas

and Jerry's last-minute work plans.

A nearly impossible guess took shape in his mind. The only person who would dare to defy Brandon's orders was Daniel.

Daniel was the original person in charge of the Zenitha-style resort project and besides, he was Brandon's father. If he insisted on

starting work tonight.

Kent didn't dare to continue the thought and quickly called Brandon.
