Chapter 503 A Day Trip

Cedrick’s gaze darkened, staying silent as he patiently waited for Team Seven to finish their search and report back

to him.

“Mr. Jenson, we didn’t find anything worth mentioning in Mr. Craig’s room.”

“Nothing in the attic too, Mr. Jenson.”

“Mr. Jenson…”

Cedrick quietly listened to all the team members report their findings. His gaze discreetly darted toward the

housekeepers, bodyguards, and the butler gathered in the garden.

Karl’s expression was the calmest when he listened to the reports by Team Seven, as though it was within his

expectation.

Cedrick narrowed his cold gaze and ordered tentatively, “Search the backyard and garden again. Don’t miss out

even on the smallest detail.”

Karl inconspicuously lowered his head and clenched his fists. Thinking about the backyard, he instinctively tightened

his balls of fists.

Cedrick keenly caught Karl’s out-of-the-ordinary reaction. Saying nothing, the former merely led Nico and Neville to

conduct another search of the garden and backyard.

Karl was composed when the team searched the garden.

Cedrick immediately headed toward the backyard and ordered, “Everyone thoroughly search the backyard!”

Karl’s fists tightened at Cedrick’s order, and he silently followed the latter to the backyard.

Nico discovered some pieces of shattered glass underneath a flower pot in the backyard.

Putting on rubber gloves, he picked up the glass bits and brought them to Cedrick.

“Check this out, Cedrick.”

Before long, others started finding glass pieces at a few more inconspicuous thickets.

Karl, who stood quietly by the wall, swallowed the knot in his throat nervously as he recalled ordering the

bodyguards to smash the glass tubes swiftly. He didn’t notice where the glass pieces fell and forgot to bury them

from sight, for he was in a hurry.

Cedrick gathered all the glass bits and felt the similarity in their texture.

Plus, none of the glass had dust or soil stain, proving they were broken recently.

Lifting his cold gaze to Karl, he interrogated, “Why are there so many glass bits in the backyard? Did something

happen at the Newton residence two days ago?”

Karl’s lips curved into a smile as he replied respectfully, “Two days ago, a housekeeper broke a glass. I was shocked

to see the remnants here instead of the trash bin. She was probably lazy and dumped them in the thickets here. I

apologize, Mr. Jenson. It was my mismanagement.”

Cedrick picked up the glass pieces with his black leather-gloved hand.

The glass was too thin to be a glass.

Despite knowing that, he didn’t refute and had Nico bag the glass pieces, then took them back to the Federal

Bureau of Investigation.

Before leaving, he looked over his shoulder and fixed his sharp gaze on Karl. “Neville, bring Karl with us. Take him to

the interrogation room and bring him a cup of coffee. I’ll interrogate him myself.”

“Yes, Mr. Jenson.”

Karl was stunned. “Mr. Jenson, I didn’t do anything wrong! Why are you taking me to the interrogation room?”

Neville walked over to Karl and cuffed his wrists. “We treat a cover-up and failure to report a crime as similar

offenses. You’ll be charged for it, Karl. Mr. Jenson has been settling lawsuits for years, and no one can play tricks

under his nose. You’re invited for a day trip to the interrogation room of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”

All colors drained from Karl’s face.

Gwendolyn didn’t go to the Harris Group in the afternoon because Treyton wanted to take Jennifer to the laboratory

for her physiotherapy session, and she wanted to be there for the latter.

After being on IV drop the whole day the day before and receiving a few shots of the special drug, Jennifer’s

condition improved slightly. She didn’t suffer from any manic episodes, but her mental state wasn’t well. She didn’t

recognize anybody and ignored everyone.

Craig was the only name she reacted to.

Kissing the back of her hand was the only way to calm the uneasiness within Treyton.

Gwendolyn watched silently from the side, sighing internally.

As a spectator watching them, she could only provide limited support, especially when it involved Treyton’s and

Jennifer’s feelings.

Joshua came over and injected two more shots of premeasured treatment serum into Jennifer.

The medication had a sedative effect.

Shortly after, Jennifer quietly rested while Gwendolyn stood by Treyton’s side and watched over her.

Jennifer was the only one in Treyton’s sight for the past few days. He didn’t ask any questions, as if he was shutting

everything out of his bubble.

Until that day, he questioned, “How’s it going with Craig?”

Gwendolyn answered truthfully, “Something terrible had happened within the Newton family. Caylie died. in an

accident. Cedrick and Nico are investigating the matter. Craig insisted Charles was the one behind it. His claim

about Charles being the mastermind had overthrown all the concrete evidence we had against him. Cedrick is

holding him in an interrogation room while searching for solid evidence to prosecute him.”

Gloom marred Treyton’s countenance. His fingers gently stroked the back of Jennifer’s hand as he asked.

“Is there a possibility that he’ll get all his charges dropped and walk out freely while Charles gets convicted. with all

of it?”

Gwendolyn didn’t even consider that possibility

“Impossible. Charles had suffered a lot to help us search for evidence this time, so Cedrick and I won’t let him be

wrongly accused.”

Treyton agreed, “Yeah, Charles must have had it rough for Jennifer’s and my sake. Craig is a cruel b*stard.”

He gritted his teeth in anger.

Jennifer, who was asleep, suddenly frowned and withdrew her hand from Treyton’s hands.

With dry, chapped lips, she murmured, “Craig, it’s m-my.

He voice was soft nearly a whisper.

Treyton leaned closer, nearly touching her lips, and asked gently. “What did you say, Jennifer? What about Craig?”

Gwendolyn inched closer too. “Jennifer, what did Craig do to you?”

Jennifer struggled uneasily and continued to mutter, “Engagement with Remus… Must listen to Craig.

She only said a few words, but the information in those words was crucial.

They might prove Craig had hypnotized Jennifer before.

Gwendolyn and Treyton exchanged a glance. They thought of the same thing.

Gwendolyn hurriedly left the room and called Cedrick, asking him to send a professional neurologist from the

Federal Bureau of Investigation.

When she hung up the phone, her fingers grasped the phone tightly as hope rose within her.

This is good news. Everything is heading in a good direction. Now, all we can do is try.

Lucas sat in a small office at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Since he didn’t need to run any mission with

Jasper and Cedrick had put all his current mission on hold, he planned to rest in his office for the whole day.

Suddenly, he recalled Craig’s urgency to have the staff destroy everything in the attic.

Pulling the bottommost drawer open, he reached deep into it and took out a tiny glass tube. It was something he

secretly snuck out from the attic.

He stored the item with extreme care. There was even a drop of transparent liquid inside.

I think many of these glass tubes were destroyed in the backyard of the Newton residence that day. Did Craig really

do something illegal? The way he exploited and oppressed me a while ago, will he continue ordering me like a

lackey when he’s released from the interrogation room scot-free?

His conscience warred as he stared at the glass tube in his hand.

Knock! Knock!

A knock rapped against the door, startling him into nearly dropping the glass tube.

He hid the glass tube back in his drawer once he calmed his nerves and asked casually, “Who is it?”

The person at the door knocked again.

“It’s Nico, the leader of Team Four of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”
