Chapter 748
Jonathan dashed out of the consulting room clumsily and ordered Rosalie’s personal bodyguard, Renee, and the
substitute doctor to get back in. After all, the doctor who was supposed to diagnose Rosalie was unconscious due to
Calvin’s cronies.
“Mr. Youngblood, are you all right?” Carlos asked from beside Jonathan. His expression was ghastly.
“I’m… fine.” Jonathan choked out the words with much difficulty. He hadn’t expected to remain fearful to this day
that Rosalie would say that she regretted her decision. He was terrified that she would consider divorcing him, even
if it never occurred to her in the past or if her love for him was not deep enough.
It turned out that there was much he was afraid of.
“Has Mr. Wilmer been found?” Jonathan raised his hand to wipe the light sheen of sweat on his forehead and
inquired Carlos.
“Not yet.” Kurt was formerly Leonard’s long-time personal assistant, who’d vanished after his funeral. While Carlos
had dispatched his men to locate him recently, he was still nowhere to be found.
“Keep looking. I’ll find him come hell or high water as long as he’s still in Strico!” Jonathan swore, his features
thunderous.
Kurt had always been Leonard’s close confidante and successor. He might have more up his sleeve aside from
sending the truth of what happened that year via email to Calvin.
Otherwise, Kurt wouldn’t have had to go missing.
“Yes!” Carlos replied quickly.
“Increase the number of security systems in the Youngblood residence and the bodyguards around Rosie
specifically,” Jonathan instructed.

was the one he wanted to get rid of the most.
“I will protect Rosalie, no matter what,” Johnathan promised himself.
Rosalie never saw Jonathan again after being discharged from the hospital. He never appeared before her, even
when she visited the hospital on this day.
Carlos, on the other hand, approached Rosalie with a smile. “Mrs. Youngblood, Mr. Youngblood asked me to bring
you back to the manor.”
“I would like to head to the hospital where Lillian is admitted to check up on her first!” It had been some time since
Rosalie visited Lillian.
Carlos hesitated.
“What is it? Am I restricted from going anywhere I wish now? Or do you need

permission from your superior?” Rosalie queried.
She contemplated, “Is Jonathan planning to limit my freedom, as he’s worried that I’ll abandon him?”
Carlos chuckled awkwardly. “Of course, you may visit Ms. Quinn, Mrs.
Youngblood. It’s no issue at all.” With that, Carlos turned around to make the necessary arrangements.
Rosalie discovered she was being escorted by several cars from all fronts only after getting into her car. Those
unknowing would have assumed that a big shot was on the road.
“I doubt it’s necessary to have so many people following me,” Rosalie couldn’t help commenting.
“Mr. Youngblood just wants you to be better protected,” Carlos said.
“Does he mean monitoring instead of protecting?” asked Rosalie.
Carlos instantly silenced himself. Above all, Jonathan had instructed him to keep the matter regarding Kurt a secret
from Rosalie to prevent her from worrying and fretting, especially since her due date for giving birth was drawing
near.
Rosalie didn’t continue speaking and hung her head low, gazing at her protruding belly.
Once Rosalie arrived at the hospital, she met Lillian.
Lillian seemed well enough in her ward and could now look after herself. She would soon be back to normal after
being discharged and taking time to recuperate.
“Rosie, you’re here!” Lillian greeted Rosalie. “Come and sit down, hurry. Now is a critical period for a pregnant
woman.”
Rosalie sat down and asked after Lillian, “How are you? Did the doctor say when you are allowed to be discharged?”
“It’s next week.” Lillian grinned and patted her bald head. She’d shaved all her hair because of her brain surgery
and surmised that she’d have to buy a wig after her discharge and wear it for some time. “Amelia also came to see
me yesterday to tell me she’s been discharged and that it was a close call.”
“How fortunate it is that both of you are safe and sound,” Rosalie uttered.
“Yeah, I sure am lucky, come to think about it,” Lillian lamented. “By the way, how surprising it is that Yvette is the
murderer in your case. Didn’t we all initially suspect it to be Mike? I didn’t expect Yvette to be capable of deceiving
even Jonathan!”
“Jonathan didn’t fall for it,” Rosalie corrected her.
“Come again?” Lillian failed to react in time. “What do you mean by that?”
Rosalie kept quiet momentarily before replying bitterly, “He knew from the start that the true murderer was

Lillian sucked in a breath as her face was wrought with shock. She wondered internally, “How could this be? If
Jonathan had known who the culprit was all this while, didn’t it mean…” She couldn’t bring herself to imagine what
that implied. “He chose to sit by and do nothing despite having such knowledge,” Rosalie went on. She stared at her
best friend with a pained smile. “Lillian, didn’t you intend to specially seek out Jonathan to tell him that I was
wronged? He knew that all along. Hence, nothing would have changed, even if you’d gone ahead with your plan.”
Lillian took in Rosalie’s expression and was overcome with sadness. She knew how deep Rosalie’s feelings were for
Jonathan and had assumed they were in the happily-ever-after phase of their relationship. Little had she foreseen
the occurrence of such an incident.
“Well… What are you going to do?” Lillian queried.
“I don’t know. I can’t bring myself to face him for the time being. Perhaps I need time to process everything and
reach acceptance,” said Rosalie.
“I will stand by you no matter what decision you make!” Lillian said, “It’s not easy to become an item with someone
you share the same feelings with, yet you and Jonathan managed to get married and have a child together. I can
tell that he truly loves you. It’s rare for
It’s rare for someone like him to love another so much.”
Lillian promptly continued at Rosalie’s silence, “I’m not speaking up for Jonathan. I understand that your time in
prison was too much to bear. But…”
Lillian’s tone started sounding like she was holding back her sobs. “It takes a lot to be together with someone you
love. Therefore, you shouldn’t hastily break up with him like me and Callum. I was mistaken to think we were in love
when it took so little to separate us.”
