Chapter 693
Amelia hoped that Warren would treat Aiden well in the future.
After taking a few photos, Aiden said, “Mommy, can you and Daddy take a picture with me too? Daddy, is that
okay?”
Aiden looked up, eagerly gazing at Warren.
Warren was about to agree, but Amelia was one step ahead and said, “There’s no need for that. I found out that
this amusement park takes automatic photos of us while we’re having fun. I’ll show you those photos when we get
back home, okay?”
Aiden immediately nodded in excitement, and he did not bring up the idea of taking a photo together again.
Amelia breathed a sigh of relief. She had just discovered the amusement park’s photo feature herself, which meant
she didn’t have to force herself to take photos with Warren anymore.
Even though it was her son’s wish, for her, it was akin to some form of
torment.
Warren’s expression darkened as he contemplated, “Does this woman not want to take photos with me at all? I
should have been the one who’s unwilling, so what gives her the right to say that?”
At this moment, Amelia didn’t spare Warren a glance. Instead, she kept her head down, engrossed in a
conversation with her son. The two of them, an adult and a child, were pointing and gesturing toward the outside
scenery visible through the Ferris wheel’s glass window.
Suddenly, Warren felt like he was being treated like he did not exist.
At noon, the three of them located a restaurant within the amusement park and sat down at a table. Amelia had
only managed to eat a small portion of her meal and couldn’t consume anymore.
“Why did you stop eating?” asked Warren, having noticed that she had paused.

“I’m full,” Amelia said indifferently.
Warren’s brow furrowed involuntarily as he thought, “She had barely taken a few bites, and she’s already full?”
After they finished their lunch, Aiden suggested heading to the play area near the restaurant to have fun.
Amelia nodded, and Aiden immediately ran excitedly toward the play
area.
Since the restaurant’s play area was nearby, Amelia chose to stay at their table instead of following Aiden there.
She sat down and watched her son as he joined the other kids inside to play.
After all, children had to learn to grow independently, and Amelia could not be with her child forever.
She didn’t even have much time left to spend with her son after this.
Amelia asked the waiter for a glass of water, then took out a pill organizer from her bag. Inside the pill organizer
were eight types of pills with different shapes and colors. She then began to take them one by one. Warren’s brow
furrowed even more intensely. “Why are you taking so many pills? What kind of illness do you have?”
Amelia swallowed the pills with a sip of water. “I don’t believe I need to report my illnesses to you, do I?”
Warren’s face suddenly darkened, and he grabbed her hand, the one holding the pills, and demanded sharply,
“What illness do you have? Why are you taking so many pills?”
A sense of unease welled up within Warren, and in his mind, he recalled the several occasions when he had seen
her grimacing in pain until her face eventually turned pale.
If it was just a common illness, she did not need to take so much.
medicine in one go.
“Warren, what’s this? Are you actually concerned?” scoffed Amelia. “Aren’t you supposed to despise me with all
your heart? And now, you’re suddenly worried about my illness?”
Warren’s expression darkened. “Don’t flatter yourself. I just don’t want you to die in front of me and ruin my day. If
you ever die, do it somewhere I can’t see!”
As he spoke, he forcefully shook off her hand, as if Amelia’s hand were something dirty.
Amelia shrugged lightly. “If I do end up dying one day, I definitely won’t do it in front of you. I wouldn’t want the last
person I see before I die to be you either!”
“You…” Warren shot her a fierce glare, his chest constricting with pain at her words. “Quit talking about dying all
the time. Are you attempting to

garner sympathy with talk of your death?”
Amelia didn’t answer him. She just kept her head down, continuing to take her pills one by one until they were all
gone. Then, she lifted her head, looked at him steadily, and said, “So, will you sympathize with me? If I’m really
dying, and you have the chance to save me, will you?”
Warren’s heart skipped a beat as he thought, “What did she mean by that? Was she implying that she might die?”
The thought briefly crossed Warren’s mind, but he quickly dismissed it, reminding himself, “How could that be
possible? Her words are likely just an attempt to elicit sympathy. Or perhaps, she has some other hidden motive.”
“I would never save you. Don’t delude yourself, Amelia. Even if today you were dying right in front of me, I wouldn’t
save you!” Warren said coldly. Amelia chuckled softly, “I thought as much, Warren. Thank you.” Warren shuddered,
given that her “thank you” sounded very harsh. “What are you thanking me for? Are you mocking me?”
“No, my gratitude is genuine,” Amelia said mildly, her gaze shifting to her son, who was still interacting with the
other kids in the play area not far
away.
Thanking Warren broke the unrealistic fantasy that had suddenly crept into Amelia’s mind. She thanked him for

break free from this inherently flawed relationship.
“If there’s another life after this one, I hope we never meet again,” she said, as she no longer wanted to see
Warren at all.
Warren’s face grew even darker. He thought to himself, “Never meet again? Who does she think she is? But why is
it that she seems so
indifferent now? Why do I feel so uncomfortable?”
After leaving the amusement park, Warren drove Amelia and Aiden back home. As soon as Aiden got into the car,
he fell asleep, leaning against Amelia.
“Now that we’ve been to the amusement park, don’t play any more tricks.. When the time comes, bring Aiden over,
and if you break your word, don’t blame me for not showing any mercy,” Warren said abruptly.
Amelia could not help but find it ironic. Per her experience, Warren had never shown her any mercy.
“I won’t break my promise, but I do hope you’ll treat Aiden well in the future,” she said.
“He’s my son, of course, I’ll treat him well,” Warren said coldly.
Amelia did not say anything more. She just turned her head and looked at her son with a gaze full of tenderness.
As the car pulled up to the residential area, Amelia was about to carry her son up to the condominium when
Warren said, “I’ll carry him.”
“No, Mr. York,” said Amelia, refusing him. “I’ll carry Aiden for now. In the future, when he’s with you, I hope you’ll
hold him close and give him more hugs. But for now, I’ll do the carrying!”
She picked Aiden up and turned toward the elevator of the condominium.
Warren gazed at her retreating figure as she walked away. The effort of carrying Aiden had caused her back to arch
slightly as if she was exerting. herself, but she continued to cradle the child close to her chest.
Warren thought to himself, “Has she been carrying Aiden like this all these years? When I wasn’t there, she held the
child like this countless times…”
Warren’s heart suddenly felt a pang of something, as if he had been pricked by thorns.
