Chapter 561 Leopold strolled over and sat beside her, his arm sweeping around her casually but possessively.

"Let's change the subject, shall we?" A mischievous spark flickered in his deep eyes.

Aurelia sensed his mood shift, and her face changed. She tried to pry his arm away, desperate to escape, but his strength was immovable.

"Mr. Leopold, do we have to get personal during the day at work? You'll get me all worked up, and I'll be uncomfortable for the rest of the day.” Leopold's lips curved into a devilish grin. "I'm giving you the day off." Aurelia was speechless. ‘I've got a ton of work. | don't need a day off." She seriously suspected he'd relegated her to the role of a casual fling.

“And what about Megan? She would lose her marbles if she knew you were still screwing with your ex." A smirk tinged Leopold's expression, knowing well his double body would have sex with Megan now and then.

“Wouldn't you miss me if | wasn't around?" Aurelia rolled her eyes exasperatedly. "Why would | miss another woman's husband? What do | look like, a masochist?" He sighed with a tinge of resignation in his voice. "Can't you just ignore that issue and focus on the sentimental side?" Aurelia chuckled lightly. "What, Mr. Leopold, do you want me to be hopelessly infatuated with you, to love you to death, utterly ensnared? Sorry, but we're not at that level. At best, it's a bit of habit." She couldn't admit, even to herself, that she had feelings for him.

It's an age-old truth that the unattainable is always the most desirable.

A flicker of hurt passed through Leopold's eyes. "Really? You have no feelings for me at all?" She looked at him squarely. "Of course, there's a bit of familial affection. You're the father of my child, my ex-husband. We were a family, after all." Then she countered, "And what are your feelings towards me?" “Family affection,” Leopold grumbled and barely got the words out.

Aurelia's heart sank just a bit, and she knew he would respond like that. He couldn't possibly love her. His interest was purely possessive.

"So there we have it. We're even. Neither of us wants to give more emotionally.” Leopold felt a heavy sensation in his chest, feeling like something lodged there.

He could love her unreservedly, even without reciprocation, but he didn't want to admit it.

"So we're both stingy with our feelings." “That means we're not suited to be husband and wife. We should be apart,’ she said, a trace of defiance in her voice.

Leopold frowned. “In this lifetime, you can only be my wife, and | can only be your husband. Even without love, we're destined to muddle through life together.” A bittersweet smile slowly danced across her face.

“We're both still young. Life is long. Who knows what the future holds? Maybe I'll die first, and you can marry some young, beautiful thing." Leopold disliked this kind of talk. He seized her shoulders. “Weren't you aiming to be the queen? How can you die before me? You're supposed to outlive me." She pouted. "Without you, what's the point of going on? Old and faded, | couldn't remarry. How lonely that would be.

Leopold was at a loss for words, wondering if she was only thinking about remarrying.

"If you want to get remarried so badly, just curse me to die sooner. Once I'm gone, you'll be free to remarry,” he said, irritated.

Aurelia suddenly leaned in, sealing his lips with a kiss. "I won't allow you to die. We're not going to die. We'll live to be a hundred, okay?" His heart leaped with joy. It was the first time she had initiated closeness. Perhaps she wasn't entirely indifferent after all.

"Okay. We'll grow old together and live to see our great-grandchildren.” He kissed her deeply, filled with tenderness and love.
