Chapter 443 Her big eyes were fixated on Chirpy, giggling non-stop. Every now and then, her chubby little hands would reach out, trying to touch Chirpy.

Each time she nearly made contact, Chirpy would flutter its wings and chirp, “No touchy!” Margot, the older sister, would swoop in, slapping the little hand away, “Don’t touch Chirpy, he doesn’t like it.” Bella pouted, her eyes welling up with tears, on the brink of crying.

William comforted her like a mini adult, “Don’t cry, I'll get Chirpy to sing a song for you.” Chirpy bobbed his head and began to sing, “I'm just a little birdie, I wanna fly so high, but | just can't reach the sky...” Bella's tears turned into laughter. She clapped her hands along with Margot, applauding Chirpy’s performance.

Chirpy, puffed up with pride, strutted around the table like he was king of the roost.

Aurelia watched from the doorway, a smile of indulgence on her face. How wonderful it would be to have a little girl of her own.

The only thing missing was a suitable father. Thinking of Leopold brought a pang of sadness. He had abandoned her, but still wanted to control her. Did he really think she was that easy to manipulate? Ritchie was off gallivanting somewhere, not planning to come back for the family dinner. Emma's face darkened with worry.

Aurelia patted her shoulder, whispering, “I've applied for a public housing unit through the company for you. You and the kids can move out after the New Year. Without your financial support, Ritchie won't be able to enjoy his carefree lifestyle for long.” Emma nodded. Her in-laws’ retirement money was all going towards paying off their mortgage, and Ritchie didn’t contribute a dime to the household. All the family expenses fell on her.

Her mother-in-law was cunning; the house was in her and her husband's name. Emma felt like a fool, carrying the financial burden of the entire family on her own.

Aurelia had thought Emma was a tough cookie, but she was no match for Perla, who had practically chewed her up and spat her out.

The saddest thing for a daughter-in-law was being treated like an outsider by her husband and his family, always, unable to fit in.

12 10:50 Jolin sat in the yard, sighing heavily. She missed having a son-in-law.

Avery, her son, came over. He had returned home the previous day, “Mom, isn't it nice that Aurelia is here with you? Would you rather she remarried and spent Christmas with another family?” Jolin sighed, “I got used to Leopold and Kane coming over on this day. It's become a tradition.” Avery scoffed, “Forget about him, he’s no better than Amold.” Jolin showed a hint of sadness, “Arnold married someone else too, didn’t he? The Stirling brothers were destined to have a short relationship with Aurelia.” Just as she was speaking, a Bentley pulled up outside the house, then a handsome, tall man stepped out of the car.

Avery recognized him. It was Elvis, the son of the Cooper family.

“Mom, you don't have to be upset anymore, a prospective son-in-law is here to pay his respects. Aurelia is a catch, she won't have any trouble getting married again.” Jolin’s eyes lit up. She hurriedly instructed Avery to fetch Aurelia from her room, then went to open the front gate.

Elvis smiled politely, introducing himself, “Madame, my name is Elvis, a friend of Aurelia. | was passing by and thought It would be a good idea to visit you.” “Come in and have a seat.” Jolin’s eyes were practically squinting from her wide smile.

The Cooper heir was not bad at all, handsome and charming. He was no less than her previous sons—in—law.

From her bedroom window, Aurelia spotted Elvis. Her heart skipped a beat as she hadn't expected him to show up at her home.
