In the surveillance room, Aurelia and Kane had been everywhere.

He realized they were on the hunt for William's hair.

Aurelia's search was one thing, but why was Kane joining the quest? A feeling of disbelief suddenly surged in his chest, a secret

perhaps known to everyone else but him.

The thought left a sour taste in his mouth. Kane, his beloved son, could he also be part of this deceit?

Meanwhile, William was bouncing around, off to play with Skyler and the other kids.

Kids were just like that, their moods as quicksilver as their feet.

Skyler wrapped an arm around William's shoulders, "Seeing you happy again warms my heart. Winter break's almost over. We

gotta make the most of it."

Beverley had brought along her pet alpaca, Dino.

The kids were ecstatic, all clamoring for a chance to play with Dino.

Dino was a very docile alpaca and was not afraid to see the children, standing obediently and letting them touch his snow-white

and silky fur.

"Dino's fur is so soft, so nice to touch," Nina giggled.

Mira chimed in, "Auntie Beverley, does Dino spit?"

Beverley laughed, "Not at all. She's a sweetheart, wouldn't spit."

Skyler cover with shay, feeding the amiable alpaca.

"lI want an alpaca too. They're adorable," he said, reassured by the presence of bodyguards at home, knowing no psychopath could

harm his pets again.

In the meantime, Aurelia left the elders in the card room and headed to her room.

There she found Leopold, sitting by the open window, the chilly breeze whistling in.

Rushing over, she closed it, "Aren't you cold? You'll catch your death out here."

Leopold was in a foul mood, needing sspace to cool off.

"I've cheered up William."

"Okay," was all Aurelia murmured, already aware. William was now outside, happily playing with Dino.

Leopold sat on the couch, fixated on his phone, his silence uncharacteristically heavy.

Aurelia could sense something was off, probably the sharp words from earlier casting a shadow on his mood.

"Look, | just wanted the kids to have a good tover the holidays. We can deal with the rest later." Aurelia said.

He didn't respond, his cold demeanor like a silent war declaration.

She peeled a tangerine, offering him a segment. "You're not still mad, are you?"

Leopold was indeed mad. Deception, particularly from loved ones, was a bitter pill to swallow. He even suspected that William

knew about his true lineage and simply refused to acknowledge him as his father, which explained his wild reaction to the hair-

pulling incident.

"I'm just tired, not in the mood for talking."

Aurelia took his hand, placing it on her belly, where their unborn child lay.

"Shall we do sprenatal bonding?"

Leopold withdrew his hand, "Not today. Maybe another time."

She gave him a look, "You're not planning to givethe cold shoulder over the holidays, are you? That's a bad omen for the year."

He couldn't help but laugh, finding it impossible to stay mad in front of her. He loved her too much. "No cold shoulder. Am | that

petty?"

Pouting, Aurelia demanded, "Then givea kiss."

He did, wrapping her in his arms and pressing his lips to hers.

She whispered, "Sthings can't be rushed. Children aren't toys to be snatched back. We need to be patient."

In another room, Lisbeth brought Raines a bowl of soup.

"Raines, this is a special brain-boosting soup Jessica had the kitchen prepare for you."
