The doctor sighed deeply, a weathered expression etching her face as she spoke, "In our little community, many don't live past

forty. But here, we can make it to eighty, ninety, even a hundred."

"You could live that long on the outside too, with the advanced medical facilities and all," Tanya countered.

The doctor shook her head, "Back in the hustle and bustle of the real world, we have to fend for ourselves and find a place to live.

we work ourselves to the bone, just like an ox, to put food on the table. And sometimes, we can't even afford a decent meal. Here,

it's different. We're self-sufficient, and isn't that just wonderful?"

Tanya was at a loss for words. Raised in a life of luxury, she had no inkling of such hardships.

"If you helpget out, I'll make sure you have everything you need. You'll have a far better life than you have now."

"lI don't want to leave. What's the point?" The doctor shrugged nonchalantly, "This place is perfect. Why are you always itching to

leave? Aren't you of an age to just sit back and enjoy your golden years?"

"I'm not like you," Tanya replied sharply, "lI have sons, daughters, a husband, and a whole family waiting for me. Of course, | want

to go back to them."

"But you're a fugitive," The doctor pointed out, "The cops on the outside are looking for you. Step out, and you'll be in handcuffs

and behind bars in no time."

Tanya flinched, "How do you know about that?"

"The boss who dropped you off let it slip," The doctor said, "To be honest, we're all fugitives here too. We'd get caught if we went

out. Prison's not on my to-do list."

Tanya gasped, "Aren't you natives?"

"Sure, but after escaping a war-torn country, we were broke and desperate. We did what we had to survive," The doctor confessed.

Tanya took a deep, silent breath. No wonder none of them wanted to leave. Just then, a local crunning over. She had stumbled

upon Tanya's makeshift boat while gathering coconuts in the woods.

The doctor led Tanya into the forest, and upon seeing her unfinished wooden boat, burst into laughter, joined by the others.

"My dear lady, surely you don't think you can navigate the Pacific with that tiny vessel?"

Tanya's face turned white, "You don't want to go out, but | do. What's wrong?"

"No worries. Keep building. When it's done, we can take it out for a spin, maybe catch sfish," The doctor said, her laughter

laced with sarcasm.

Annoyed, Tanya retorted, "My boat is sturdy."

"Do you even know why our island isn't on any shipping routes? No ships, no planes, and they all steer clear because we're

surrounded by typhoons and reefs. Even the cruise ships won't cnear. You sure your little boat can make it out?"

Tanya was upset by the winds of realization. Had Leopold lost his mind buying an island in this forsaken place?

"The owner must be out of his mind to buy an island here, with zero commercial value."

The doctor just chuckled, "The boss likes the isolation. If ships were passing by all the time, disturbing our peace, how could we live

happily?"

Tanya was fuming, panting with frustration.

The doctor patted her shoulder reassuringly, "You might as well stay and take it easy. Stop worrying so much. We'll take good care

of you until the end."

But Tanya was determined to leave. She refused to wither away on this desolate island.

In the yard, Kane was looking for William.

"William, Skyler, let's go play with the robots. Nina and Mira are waiting for us."

"Let's go have sfun," Skyler scooped up William in his arms, "We're just kids, and let's not worry about adult stuff. Just enjoy

the game."

William was somewhat speechless. He's a sensitive child.
