Kane knew he couldn't sway William and had to wait for William to have his epiphany.

Upstairs, Leopold was seated by the bay window, observing the kids playing in the backyard. Aurelia strolled over. "Summer break

and Christmas holidays are the best times for kids."

She reminisced about her childhood when she, Avery, and Jelena would play without a care in the world, completely forgetting

about homework.

Leopold stirred his coffee, lost in thought.

"Skyler mentioned something odd. He said Kane and William are hiding a big secret, but he's sworn to secrecy. Do you know

anything about it?"

Aurelia flinched. Did Skyler figure out that William and Kane were identical?

Had William spilled the beans?

She stretched her lips into an exaggerated smile. "Isn't it normal for kids to have secrets? Maybe it's a crush or a falling out with a

friend."

She paused, then added, "Especially William. He's such a lady's man. Girls are always vying for his attention. | worry he might have

inherited Chad's genes."

Leopold glanced at her with a piercing look. "Kane's always been cautious about making friends. | have never seen him cozy up to

a stranger, especially an online acquaintance. It's a bit odd."

The hidden meaning in his words wasn't lost on Aurelia.

"Maybe he's just picking up social cues from being around William so much."

Leopold countered, "Wasn't William the shy one? When he first cback, he was always behind a mask. How's he suddenly Mr.

Social?"

Aurelia felt the heat. William had no social phobia as a social enthusiast. "Kids change. He used to be shy, but Skyler helped him

out of his shell," she quickly explained.

To Leopold, explanations were just excuses. "The other day, when you went to see Susanna, was that really Kane?"

"What else?" Aurelia turned her head, looking at him quizzically. "You're acting strange."

Leopold narrowed his eyes, fixating on her. "Are you still upset about... past events?"

"What events?" Aurelia raised her eyebrows in feigned confusion.

"Liam's ordeal," Leopold pressed.

She shrugged nonchalantly. "That's water under the bridge. I've moved on."

"What about Liam? Does he hold a grudge?" Leopold probed further.

Aurelia raced her heart. He was definitely onto something. If he suspected the truth about William, he'd dig until he found answers.

How much longer could they keep the secret?

She sat down, her hand instinctively touching her slightly rounded belly. "What did you use to play as a kid?" She deftly changed

the subject.

Leopold sipped his coffee. Most of his childhood was spent buried in books, coding, or crafting gadgets.

"My childhood wasn't really anything special," he said in a breezy tone. But Aurelia felt a prick of regret. His childhood was a tender

subject, a dark cloud hanging over him.

"Anyway, Kane and William had a blast growing up. | wouldn't want anything to disturb their happiness."

Leopold deepened his voice. "What could possibly disturb William's happiness?"

His tone was inquisitive.

Aurelia brushed a stray hair from her face and smiled lightly. "Forcing him into something he doesn't want to do, of course. You

know kids are bright and have their will, just like you did. So we shouldn't push them into things they're not keen on."

Leopold curled his lips into a faint. "William's not my son. How could he be like me?"
