"Don't be such a downer, girl. Good men are scarce, but they're out there. Cast a wide net, and you'll snag a keeper." Wasn't that how Beverley landed her catch? Those with roving eyes or ulterior motives got the boot, and then it was on to the next one.
With a playful smirk, Jelena ribbed, "You and Leopold have been on and off more times than | can count. Are you sure he's one of the good ones?" Aurelia wasn't sure, but she was willing to roll the dice.

Jelena's eyes gleamed with a hint of mischief, "He hasn't been with Megan?" Aurelia choked, "No, of course not." Jelena was skeptical. Months together and nothing? Seemed unlikely.
"You trust him that much?" Aurelia coughed softly, "He's not an idiot. Why would he sleep with a woman who's trying to trap him? Megan's kid isn't his but someone else's." Jelena clapped her on the shoulder, "Honey, don’t rust what men say. They're known for spinning yarns. Emotional attachment and physical needs are separate for them. They could still hit it off with someone they detest." Aurelia massaged her temples, "Jelena, you're being too cynical. There are guys out there who value integrity. You can't judge all men by a few bad apples. Look at Fredric. Sure, he's a ladies' man, but isn't he trying to rein it in for you?" Jelena snorted, "His self-improvement kick has a shelf life of three months at most." "Then why waste your time? Playing his girlfriend doesn't help your chances of meeting someone new." Jelena laughed it off, "I appreciate the concern, but I've got it under control. Besides, | have you looking out for me. What's Fredric going to do to me?" Aurelia shot her a playful glare, "Fine, I've got your back. But I still hope you find Mr. Right. After all, your mother is looking forward to being a grandma." Aurelia whipped up burgers for everyone, while Jelena tossed together a veggie salad, and the servant prepared a creamy chicken and mushroom soup.
The kids were ravenous, scrambling back to the table with clean hands, waiting to be fed.
Fredric chuckled, "Mom is really considerate, bringing Nina and Mira over to the Stirling Mansion. With Kane and William to keep them company, they won't miss Sheryl one bit." Leopold shot him a withering look, "Who else but Mom to clean up the messes you make?" Fredric grinned sheepishly, "Mom's got a soft spot for me. I'm grateful for that." That jab hit Arnold hard. Jessica always had her son's back, while his mother used him as a pawn in her power games, indifferent to his feelings, setting him up for a fall.
The whole artificial insemination fiasco, cooked up by his mother and aunt, had landed Aurelia with Leopold's child out of the blue.

Arnold had fought hard to win Aurelia back, but Aurelia lied about being fatally ill and in need of a bone marrow transplant. It forced him to remarry and break her heart all over again, pushing her right back to Leopold.
Aurelia had loved Arnold and she had wanted to marry him. It was all Arnold's mother's meddling that destroyed their chances.
No wonder Arnold’s grandparents couldn't stand her, eager to chase her away, to keep her from his father. They knew she was a troublemaker.
