The atmosphere felt tense.

Yulissa wished for the ground to open up and swallow her whole when she saw Cayden appear.

However, she had nowhere to run. She summoned all her courage and said defensively, “Mr. Moore, I really saw

Avery cheating. I was seated behind her, and I saw it clearly with my own eyes...”

“Really?” Cayden stared daggers at Yulissa. She trembled with fear under his eyes.

At their engagement party, Avery humiliated Cayden and his family. Yulissa had assumed that after such an

incident, coupled with the gossip and rumored engagement between Cayden and Wisteria, Cayden would be done

with Avery.

Yulissa thought that Avery had left Ackleton because she had not seen Avery with Cayden in a long while.

In fact, it was Wisteria who had been by Cayden's side lately.

She had even caught the two of them going out for dinner on several occasions. All these incidences had led her to

assume that Wisteria had replaced Avery's position in Cayden's life. However, she had been sorely mistaken.

Seeing how worried Cayden was about Avery, it was clear that she had not fallen out of favor with him.

This realization made Yulissa feel even more resentment and jealousy toward Avery.

She could not understand what it was that Cayden loved so much about Avery.

Aren't rich men always fickle-hearted, always seeing multiple women at once, always playing around without

committing to anyone? Don't they get bored of a woman after a while and then unceremoniously dump her without

even a second thought? Why isn't Mr. Moore like that?

“Miss, we hold strongly to the principles of fairness and justice here. We would never punish an innocent person. We

would also not tolerate any false accusations!” Liam declared, smiling kindly at Avery, but when he turned to

Yulissa, his expression was indecipherable.

Yulissa was annoyed by Liam's words. “Why are you staring at me like that? I did not falsely accuse her!”

I must stand by what I've initially said! How else can I explain myself?

Cayden embraced Avery. He lowered himself slowly onto the couch and stared at Yulissa with steely eyes. “Ms.

Yantz, you should be careful with your words. The law doesn't just punish cheaters but also those who falsely accuse

anyone of cheating. Yes, you heard me correctly. You will also be punished for making a false accusation.”

Yulissa broke out in cold sweat, and her entire body was trembling in fear.

She knew better than anyone what Cayden was capable of.

Even if Avery had really cheated, Cayden could have easily intervened and ensured that Avery got away with her

wrongdoing.

The truth was that Avery had not cheated. Yulissa had framed her, which made her guilty of making a false

accusation of cheating.

Yulissa calmed herself down. I've already framed Avery. Even if I were to change my stand now and say that my

eyes were mistaken, this would not end well... The inspector would see right through it and know that I had falsely

accused Avery of cheating! Anyway, look at how worried Mr. Moore is about Avery! It's impossible for me to

continue working at Trident Group at this point. I'll stand by my accusation! I'll die on this hill if I have to!

Once Yulissa had made up her mind, she composed herself and went on insisting, “She was cheating, Mr. Moore!

I'm not lying! Avery, don't you dare think that just because you've got support, you'd be able to escape the law!”

Cayden's steely stare pierced right through Yulissa, making her skin crawl.

He suddenly smiled and said, “Well, Ms. Yantz, you are truly bold.”

Yulissa did not dare to meet Cayden's eyes. His hard stare was making her shrink in fear.

At that moment, Xavier appeared.

He was not surprised to see all of them, especially Avery, gathered in the office. He had already heard of the entire

story.

Xavier hurried over to Cayden's side and greeted him with a nod. “Good day, Mr. Moore.”

“Mr. Langdon, please give Mr. Dartsley here a copy of the information of all the candidates in the examination

room, including their contact information,” Cayden instructed firmly.

“Sure, no problem at all, Mr. Moore!” Liam said in a flustered voice.

Cayden wrapped his arm around Avery's shoulder and cast a cold glance at Liam and the other examiners. “She's

in frail health, and besides, she's with child. Since it's getting late, I'll take her home first. I trust that won't be a

problem.”

“No problem! No problem at all! We should be considerate of our candidates. Since Ms. Rumpley here is pregnant,

please feel free to leave anytime!” Liam said with a greasy smile.

Cayden emanated such a dominating aura that he could not bear it any longer. It was too overwhelming. He

wanted Cayden to leave as soon as possible.

Cayden lifted Avery's frail body in his arms and moved toward the door, leaving Xavier to deal with the matter on

his own.

As Cayden and Avery were leaving, Evangeline, who had been standing in a corner, suddenly spoke up. “Don't

worry, Avery. I'm sure Mr. Moore will prove your innocence. If necessary, I'll also testify on your behalf. You can call

me anytime...”

Cayden paused in his steps. His sharp eyes fell on Evangeline.

Evangeline took a step back, retreating from his intense gaze. She smiled and nodded at him sweetly.

Cayden frowned.

“Cayden, this is Evangeline. She was the one who contacted you. She witnessed everything...” Avery wrapped her

arms around Cayden's neck. Her voice was low and weak, but her eyes shone with gratitude for Evangeline.

Cayden's dark eyes flickered with understanding. He called out to Xavier, “I'll leave matters to you. Do what needs

to be done in regards to this young lady.”

Xavier nodded in understanding.

Evangeline was elated. She suppressed her excitement. What a great day! Working in Trident Group is my dream!

However, the recruitment process of Trident Group was notoriously strict. It would be difficult for her to win a place

in that multinational company with her educational background and qualifications.

Who would've thought that because of this exam, I might actually get a good opportunity with Trident Group?

In the car, Cayden wrapped his arm around Avery's waist and gently kissed her eyelids. “Are you still upset? Silly

girl.”

Avery replied in a soft voice, “I was scared to death today. I really did not cheat! Yet, I was accused of cheating...

Did you know how quiet the whole examination room was? No one believed me! I felt so helpless! I don't think I'll

ever forget that moment...”

Cayden pulled her closer to him.

His eyes shone like stars in the night sky, full of concern for the woman he loved. “Even if the whole world suspects

you of cheating, I will still believe in your innocence. Don't worry. I'll take care of this for you.”

I won't let anyone who hurts Avery get away with it! That Yulissa really needs to be punished!

Cayden's intense eyes met Avery's. Hers were filled with tears.

The intimacy and vulnerability between them at that moment made Avery flush.

Cayden's love and affection touched her heart. Her life seemed to bloom ever more beautifully with him in it. Even

if she had to walk through bushes of thorns, she felt no pain because he was by her side.

It's so good to have him here, by my side!
