Toby had left ages ago and was waiting outside.

Dylan made his way out of the third row and was standing at the junction that allowed him to make his

way to the fourth row right away. He looked ahead.

By then, almost everyone had left.

The performance was over, so the workers were busy putting everything away.

There, sitting in the fourth row, were two adults making out fervently. It was more than just kissing,

though. The guy had already slipped his hand under the girl's shirt. Given how they behaved in public,

there was no saying just how crazy they were in private.

Talia couldn't see the two lovers' faces, but she moved away and urged, “Let's go now. Your father is

still waiting for us.”

Dylan frowned. He kept staring at the couple in the fourth row.

When he saw the matching shoes they had on, however, his frown parted, and he left the place with his

mother.

Toby had been waiting for a while, so he was a little annoyed. “What took you so long?”

“A couple is making out in there. Ugh, I can't believe they're doing that in public,” complained Talia as

she made her way to the parking lot with her husband and son.

When they reached their destination, they saw that the driver was already waiting for them.

Toby recognized the driver as the punk who used to work for his son and was a valet at a bar.

“What is the meaning of this?” asked Toby.

Dylan replied, “You should go home without me. I have some matters to attend to because I postponed

working on something to watch the play with you guys. Let's talk tonight. I'll be home for dinner.”

When Talia heard that, she hugged her husband's arm and urged him to get into the car to prevent him

from arguing with Dylan.

Toby didn't say a thing before he got into the car.

Before Talia got into the car, she turned around and warned, “You've already promised to come home

for dinner, so be there. Do not leave your dad and me hanging. We have to talk about what you and

Ery are going to do.”

“Don't worry. I'll be there,” promise Dylan.

The driver fired up the engine and took the elderly couple back to their home.

Dylan turned around and buckled in. When he heard the crisp click, he caught sight of the imported

black Land Rover that was parked two lots beside his car.

It stunned him in place.

Cayden has a car just like that!

Naturally, there were hundreds of similar cars in Ackleton, so the plates were the only things that could

identify the owner of the car.

Dylan didn't even know what he was thinking when he walked toward that Land Rover.

When he saw the car's plate, his irises constricted as realization hit him.

Those ridiculously striking registration numbers weren't just catchy. It also signified the incredible social

status held by its owner.

Dylan suddenly felt his throat going dry. He closed his eyes, and at that moment, countless images

flashed past his mind.

He couldn't reach Avery's phone since the night before.

She had been missing for an entire night.

At first, she simply ignored his calls. Towards the end, dialing her number immediately got the

machines to tell him that she was unreachable...

The second he saw that Land Rover, he knew that Avery had blocked his number.

He had his suspicion on the night before, and all he had to do was to grab a random phone and dial

Avery's number using that phone. He'd be able to confirm his theory then and there, but he never did

so.

He stayed outside Blake's room the entire night, but Avery never showed up.

After staying up all night, he went to the restroom to wash his face with some cold water when the sun

rose. Only then did his mind clear up a little.

Dylan didn't even know what he was doing anymore.

He didn't even like Avery. Jealously had simply turned him down a dark path, and driving him to the

brink of madness.

His mind might be clear and he might have realized what was love and what wasn't, but he still had to

go search for his wife... The wife he worked hard to get his hands on.

After all, they had signed on the dotted lines and were legally married.

It didn't even matter that one of the two parties didn't want to get married.

Before lunch, Dylan thought that Avery would visit her grandfather eventually, so he went to the

hospital again, but still, she never showed up.

He left the place in frustration and had been troubled until he saw the Land Rover parked there.

Dylan had a stoic expression on when he left the parking lot and made his way back into the theater.

The couple making out in the fourth row of the VIP area looked a lot like Avery and Cayden. Their

figures and their fashion sense were too similar.

I didn't see their faces earlier, but there can't possibly be that many coincidences. Cayden and Avery

were secretly dating and happened to get the seats right behind the ones I got for me and my parents.

Dylan made his way back to the VIP area, but by then, everyone was already gone.

He stood beside the door and thought back to what he had just witnessed earlier. For a moment there,

his sixth sense tingled, but that only lasted a few seconds.

There is no way Avery and Cayden would wear matching shoes. The style, for starters, is something I

have never seen Cayden wear before, but...

Dylan thought about how Avery was still a young woman. Despite the hardship she had endured and

been through, she was still a young woman in her mid-twenties. It was possible that she'd like that kind

or shoes.

After leaving the theater, Avery made her way to the subway station.

She didn't leave with Cayden.

He had promised to let her see her kids whenever she wanted to. He also allowed her to take the kids

to her place on certain weekends.

Hence, she was not eager to stay by his side all the time, just to spend time with her children.

However, something still bothered her. Just before she left, Cayden put on a grouchy expression and

said, “You should leave right now if you do not wish to deal with him. Dylan can overthink sometimes,

and he will likely come back here after he realized that something is off. He will look all over the place

for the two of us, and it might put a strain on your relationship with your husband if he sees us.”

Is Cayden a lunatic or something? Why is he saying so many crazy things?

Avery closed her eyes in frustration and exasperation as she stood inside the subway.

The truth was that she had already planned her escape route when she married Dylan.

Saving her grandfather was the most urgent matter at hand, but she didn't want to throw the rest of her

life away over an impulsive move.

When the time was right, she would mercilessly sue him and demand a divorce. A marriage certificate

was not a shackle, and it couldn't bind someone forever. It certainly wasn't something that couldn't be

broken.

Avery was entering the residential area when she received a message from Nina.

Nina: Are you home? I've pressed your doorbell a dozen times, but no one answered the door... Please

be home. I don't want to go back and suffer the unending wrath of my parents.

As Avery made her way home, she typed her reply. Avery: I'm on my way up.

She saw Nina waiting by the entrance when she reached her destination.

The two of them entered the house together. Just then, Nina saw the shoes Avery had on and yelped in

surprise. “Oh my gosh, six thousand and four hundred!”

Avery got into her house and put her bag down before putting on her slippers. After that, she asked,

“What are you talking about?”

Nina had gotten into the house as well. She shifted her gaze from the shoes and replied, “Those

shoes... every magazine is advertising them. If I remember correctly, it is a family series, and the

Mommy shoes alone cost six thousand and four hundred.”

“W-What?” said Avery. She frowned because she was broke and thought that a pair of shoes would, at

most, go for two or three thousand.

The doorbell rang at that moment.

“Hey, someone is here. Huh... I wonder if it's your boss,” teased Nina as she turned around to answer

the door.

Avery didn't even get the chance to try to stop Nina before the door was opened.

Dylan stood right outside.

“W-Who are you? A-And who are you looking for?” asked Nina curiously when she saw the guy in a

suit who looked as though he was angry enough to kill.
