Chapter 487

Allison got a call from the hospital nurse, saying Grace was ready to be discharged. She rubbed her forehead and

said, “Thank you. I got it.” After hanging up, her brows remained furrowed.

She couldn’t suppress the pressure in her heart, feeling like there was a lump in her chest that just wouldn’t go

away. After a few minutes, she sighed and called Emma, asking her to find a reliable home service agency. She

needed a nanny to take care of Grace.

Emma was efficient. By the afternoon, a nanny had arrived at Blue Mountain Estate. Allison called the nanny and

gave her some instructions, especially reminding her to make sure Grace took her meds on time, and look after her

diet and general well-being. The guest bedroom would be the nanny’s quarters.

The nanny nodded, “Understoods.”

When Grace got home and pushed open the door, she saw the living room was tidy as a pin. A woman in her

forties, wearing a blue apron, with her mid-length hair tied up, was mopping the floor. Seeing Grace, Sammy said,

“Miss Zimmer sent me to look after you.”

As a nanny assigned by the home service agency, Sammy had no idea about what was going on between Grace

and Allison. She just assumed it was a busy daughter unable to take care of her sick mother.

Grace looked at this stranger in her house, feeling bewildered. It seemed like she was thinking about what Sammy

had just said. “You said my daughter sent you to look after me?”

Sammy put down her mop, “Yes, Miss Allison sent me.”

She poured a glass of water for Grace, “Ms. Grace, Miss Zimmer has instructed me that you will be in the master

bedroom and I will be in the guest bedroom.”

Grace walked into the master bedroom. The layout hadn’t changed, but there were fewer books on the shelf and

fewer clothes in the wardrobe. Almost all of Allison’s personal items were gone.

Grace’s face turned pale, she took a step back and leaned against the door. Sure enough, Allison had moved out.

Sammy seemed to sense Grace’s disappointment, but she didn’t want to meddle in others’ affairs. She just hoped

to do her job well. The pay was good, and she feared if Grace wasn’t satisfied, she might be sent back to the

agency. So she quickly said with enthusiasm, “Ms. Grace, why don’t you rest? You must be tired coming back from

the hospital, I’ll have dinner ready in a jiffy.”

Grace was truly exhausted. She lay down on the bed without saying a word.

Sammy headed to the kitchen to prepare dinner. She took out her phone and texted Allison, “Miss Zimmer, Ms.

Grace has gone to bed, she seems okay.”

After reading the message, Allison left her phone on the table. She walked over to the bar and took out a bottle of

red wine. She poured herself half a glass and took a sip. The wine was mellow and sweet; she drank one glass after

another.

Leah’s mocking words echoed in her mind.

“How could a woman like Grace give birth to a daughter like a noble?”

“Do you really dare to dream that big, just by yourself? What a joke! Have you even taken a good look at yourself?”

“You’re bad luck. Don’t come spreading it to me.”

“If I were you, I might just off myself for being so disgusting and cheap.”

Allison let go of her hand. The glass of wine slipped from her grasp and fell to the floor. It landed on the carpet,

She seemed to be drunk, leaning on the bar.

In the past, she felt invincible, facing the Flanagan family like an unbeatable warrior. She wasn’t afraid of Leah and

Penelope’s insults, and she believed she could soar against the wind.

But now, Allison laughed at her own naivety.

She couldn’t do it. She didn’t have the resolve.
