and followed Lucian’s pace.
Lucian led the way and stopped after a few steps.

The lakeside was overgrown with weeds, misty with water vapour, and various insects and small
animals began to increase. Allison carefully watched every step. Suddenly, a black–green insect
jumped onto her foot. She was startled and almost screamed.
She looked up, meeting Lucian’s teasing eyes.
He seemed to be enjoying her embarrassment. “I thought you were a fearless person.”
As a girl who dared to come here alone, she was unlike those rich girls.
