Chapter 535

“No way! Absolutely not? Larissa denied the possibility at once.

The Seymours hated her so much, so how could they suddenly want to meet her son? Even if she

considered things from a different perspective, they should not have let someone like Ron go pick Aster

up if they wanted to meet him so badly.

Her reaction was just as Gary had predicted.

The truth was, his suggestion from before had only been just an attempt to sound Larissa out. He

already knew that she did not have it good with the Seymours from her previous narrative. She did not

like the Seymours, and they did not like her either. But he had not been sure if their dislike would be

bad enough that they would take it out on an innocent child.

“Then — what could the reason be?” Gary asked.

Larissa’s mind was a mess. She could not answer that question at all. “I don’t know,” she said.

Kidnapping Aster was either to make her upset or to gain some benefit from her. If it was the former, it

was too sudden; but it it was the latter She was only a hotel manager. She could only give them an

80% discount on their room rates at most.

“Is it because of money?”

“They are probably richer than I am,” Larissa laughed. Money was probably the least likely reason out

of everything else.

Although Cosmic Entertainment went through heavy losses six years ago, where their “cash cows” and

“backbones” left one by one, they had the investment of Soaring Corporation after Lana married Cody,

expanding the scale of their operations as well as bringing in all kinds of new traffic. Their annual profit

could be up to several hundred million dollars. Even if there was a little setback from Cody’s recent

scandal as well as his and Lana’s divorce. Cosmic Entertainment’s position in the industry was still

stable. Just based on their existing resources alone, the Seymours would be very well off for the rest of

their lives; why would they care about her meager wage?

“That may not be true.” Gary said enigmatically even as he sipped his tea

After finding out Larissa was his biological daughter, he got someone to investigate the Seymours.

Unfortunately, he probably understood Cosmic Entertainment’s current operating performance better

than Xavier.

“I heard that Cosmic Entertainment hasn’t been looking too good recently.”

Lana and Cody’s marriage had indeed brought in a large capital flow for Cosmic Entertainment,

allowing it to survive. But at the same time, Cosmic Entertainment became Cody’s backup “vault of

gold.” Whenever he lacked capital, he would get money from Xavier, glorifying it as

a “joint investment.”

When Cody first started his investment business, he was careful and actually put in some work.

Therefore, he earned a bit of money as well as Xavier’s trust. But after that one could say that Cody

screwed Xavier over so much that his money had all gone down the drain. Hence, Cosmic

Entertainment was also teetering on the edge of collapse.

But Gary agreed with Larissa in that Xavier could not care less for what little money she had. Her few

million dollars in savings would not be enough to save Cosmic Entertainment.

“Well, there’s no point in us guessing blindly here,” he said. “Let’s just wait and see. You’ve already

sent Aster away, so there’s not much to be worried about. If they want to take it out on you, they’d

come to find you in person.”

Larissa did not relax like he thought she would though-There was nothing more she hated in life than

having to deal with the Seymours.

If it were not for her superior’s earnest persuasion, she would have long placed her reassignment

application into the hands of her boss. She would rather not be promoted than remain here and deal

with all those troublesome jerks.

“Thank you.” She put all of the information back into the folder and took a deep breath, pushing down

all her negative emotions. “Speaking of which –” She was a little curious. “A week already passed a

long while ago, right? You still haven’t linished negotiating your contract

with Soaring Corporation?”
