Chapter 446

Shannon bit her lip hard.

How can this be? How is this possible? I've been living in Tarragon's headquarters, yet I've never met

or interacted with the new leader. How did Shannon gain his protection and make him bear all the

pressure to pardon her for her crimes?

“I want to meet our leader. Lord Euchler, help me to get in touch with him and tell him that I'm looking

for him.”

“That's...”

Daniel was a little hesitant.

The leader has never shown himself. We all know that Tarragon has a mysterious boss, but no one has

ever seen his face. Over the years, he has never appeared at the headquarters, leaving Holden and

Micah to handle all of Tarragon's affairs. If I'm being honest, I'm a little terrified of the secretive head of

this organization.

“You're putting me in a tight spot. Even Micah and Holden wouldn't be able to ask him to show himself,

so what makes you think I'll be capable of doing so?”

Yvette gritted her teeth and uttered bitterly, “I'm the victim of this assassination. Even if he wants to

spare Shannon's life, shouldn't he be asking for my approval first? I don't care. Since it happened on

your turf, you'll have to give me a satisfactory answer. And if you can't, you can forget about being the

head of this branch. I may be powerless against the leader, but it'll be a piece of cake for me to drag

you down with me!”

Daniel's expression froze.

He did not doubt her threat in the slightest.

As the daughter of the previous head, she was once Tarragon's most distinguished princess. Despite

her father's death, she still wielded considerable influence within the headquarters.

That was also why Micah and Holden dared not lay a finger on her.

“Don't get mad, Ms. Sullivan. All right. I'll agree to it. I'll help you contact him now and ask him to meet

you or talk to you on the phone.”

Yvette's expression finally eased.

As long as I get to speak to the leader, I'm confident I can persuade him to execute Shannon as soon

as possible.

Over at a resort on Belmonia Island, Lionel had on sunglasses and a pair of binoculars in his hand as

he observed a hanging bridge some distance away.

“Has there been any strange activity lately on her end?”

Hearing the question, the man in black next to him quickly inclined his head politely before answering,

“Ms. Saunders leads a simple life and never initiates conversation with others. She has been on the

island for quite a few days, and she spends most of her time sitting on the end of the bridge by herself

and gazing at the sea.”

Suddenly, Lionel frowned.

He had spotted a young man pass by in front of Victoria on a bicycle. Then, the man stopped and

appeared to greet her.

Lionel did not know what they said to each other, but the young man proceeded to get off the bicycle

and hand it to Victoria.

She was smiling. Her bright smile lit up her pretty face, and she looked radiant and charming.

A second later, she hopped onto the bicycle and started riding it on the bridge.

It was clear she was not good at it. In fact, it would be more accurate to say she did not know how to

cycle. The moment she lifted her feet off the ground, the bicycle and her whole body started swaying

dangerously.

Lionel's pupils constricted.

This d*mned woman! Doesn't she know she's pregnant? How could someone who has never ridden a

bicycle attempt it on a hanging bridge? She truly knows how to have “fun.” No, wait. I should say she

surely knows how to look for “excitement.”

He tossed the binoculars toward the man in black and strode toward the bridge.

Meanwhile, the young man on the bridge could not help laughing when he saw Victoria cycling

unsteadily. “You can't ride a bicycle? In that case, you're pretty brave for trying it for the first time on a

hanging bridge. I'm impressed.”

She chuckled while endeavoring to lift her feet off the ground again. Unsurprisingly, she and the bicycle

both tilted to one side immediately. In the end, she had to try several positions before managing to

stabilize herself.

Without her realizing it, she furrowed her brows.

If I can drift on four wheels and look super cool while racing, I don't believe I can't master riding on two

wheels.

As the bicycle rolled to the top of a slope, she released the brake without even thinking.

A second later, the bicycle was speeding downhill.

The sea breeze howled in her ears, and she sensed she had lost control over her momentum.

Nonetheless, the bicycle isn't that tall. Even if it does overturn, I should be able to get out of harm's way

immediately with my skills.

As it turned out, she did not fall. It was not because she mastered the art of controlling the bicycle but

because a tall figure dashed out to grab ahold of the vehicle with one hand and wrap the other arm

around her.

She was startled as a familiar scent greeted her.

When she returned to her senses, she broke away from the man's grip and got off the bicycle. Then,

she spun around and headed toward the stairs.

Lionel frowned. He flung aside the bicycle, caught up to her in just a few steps, and hugged her from

behind.

“Let's talk.”

Victoria's body stiffened, and her muscles tensed up. An invisible aversion spread through her limbs.

Then, exerting all of her strength, she tried to use her arms to free herself from his embrace.

The man behind her repeated, “Let's talk.”

After several failed attempts to free herself, she eventually gave up. In a frosty tone, she said, “What

would a wealthy man and his mistress have to say to each other? Please have some respect, Mr.

Gezmond.”

Her words stabbed his heart like a knife, and his expression turned grim.

“I'm not married, so we don't have that sort of relationship. Please don't sully yourself, Victoria.”

The cold expression on her face changed, and she chuckled softly. “Who's sullying whom, may I ask?

Have you forgotten what you did to me?”
