Lizetta handed Remington's phone to the nurse at the desk, asking her to deliver it to Remington before turning

to leave. The nurse, true to her word, immediately took the phone to him.

Barbara had been rushed into surgery, and Remington was pacing anxiously alongside Martin in the waiting

area. Seeing the nurse with his phone, he had his brow furrowed in irritation as he took it and asked, "Who

brought this?"

"She left it withand then took off," the nurse replied.

Clutching the phone, Remington told Martin, "I'll be right back."

Without waiting for a response, he strode towards the elevator.

But by the the got to the lobby, there was no sign of Lizetta. He quickly dialed her number.

After a few rings, she answered.

Remington, now in the elevator, asked in a deep, worried tone, "Where are you?"

Lizetta was on her way out of the hospital; her voice was calm as she replied, "I'm beat. Caught a cab home. |

know you're busy; just carry on." Remington could detect the chill in her tone.

He felt his heart squeezed. He knew she must have overheard it.

After a moment of silence, his grip on the phone tightened, and he barely managed to say, "Honey."

But before he could figure out the right words to explain, Lizetta cut him off. "My ride's here. Gotta go. We'll talk

later."

Remington's breath hitched, "Alright, just textwhen you get home."

"Yeah, will do," she said before hanging up.

Yet, Lizetta didn't actually board any cab. She sat down on a bench nearby.

She had lied to Remington, because she hadn't even seen a cab yet.

She didn't want to hear his explanations; they weren't necessary.

Because even without hearing them, she knew what he would say.

It was all about making Barbara feel at ease before her surgery.

It was because Eileen wasn't Stella that he had played along with Barbara's demands, just for the moment.

But these were not the words Lizetta wanted to hear. She yearned for a husband who would stand by her side,

steadfastly, under any circumstances. Yet, he had disappointed her.

Lizetta didn't realize how long she had been sitting on the bench until her phone rang again.

She numbly answered; her expression changed as she listened to the call.

It was from a paternity testing clinic, informing her that the DNA results for Evelina and Elara Hawthorne were

ready for pickup.

Quickly, she hailed a cab and headed to the clinic.

"Where's she off to in such a hurry? April, follow her."

Across the street, Evelina watched Lizetta leave and urged the driver, April, to follow.

Evelina had earlier bribed a nurse to keep tabs on Barbara's condition.

After learning that Barbara's condition had worsened and that Remington and his family were at the hospital,

Evelina rushed over as well.

She hadn't expected to find Lizetta sitting on a bench outside the hospital, who looking lost and dejected.

Evelina felt a surge of schadenfreude; she assumed that Stella's return had devastated Lizetta.

As she and April were about to approach Lizetta to gloat, Lizetta received a call, which led her to shift her

demeanor, and then quickly leave in a cab. Evelina sensed something was amiss.

Nodding, April immediately followed Lizetta's cab.

But what Evelina hadn't expected was that Lizetta stopped at a paternity clinic twenty minutes later.

"That's odd, what is she doing here?" Evelina mused, feeling puzzled by Lizetta's unexpected destination.
