Douglas looked at Felicia and Jansen with calm eyes. "I'm afraid I can't break up with her," he replied.
"What the hell?!" His answer made Jansen's blood boil. He had been in the business world for years and had never
seen such a brazen person. "You have a wife and a daughter. Why do you have to cheat on her and betray them?!"
Douglas pursed his lips and remained silent in the face of their questioning. Since that night, he knew that he still
loved Whitney, although there was a chasm between them.
His reticence enraged Jansen further. He pointed at Douglas and bellowed, "Listen here. I don't care whether you
agree, but don't think about attending the trade fair today! After what you did to us, we won't let you off the hook!

Jansen and Felicia were shocked when they turned around and saw Emily, and they quickly suppressed their anger.
Felicia marched forward and questioned frantically, "Emily? Didn't I ask you to take Lucy to a picnic today? Why are
you here?"
Emily looked at her parents with a profound gaze, and the expression on her face was stiff. Her presence made the

Felicia was rightfully worried that Emily had overheard their argument earlier, so she hastily grabbed her wrist and
reassured her, "Don't worry. Your dad and I will take care of this. So, hurry up, go to the picnic with Lucy."
Emily stood rooted on the spot, her eyes locked on Douglas.
Jansen's expression slightly softened when Emily made an appearance. He went to her and said softly, "Em,
Douglas and I have some business to discuss. How about you and your mother go out first?"
Finally, Emily couldn't take it any longer as she opened her mouth and muttered, "Dad, Mom, I heard everything.
Don't lie to me." Her voice was soft and choked, as if she was about to cry.
When he heard her remarks, he couldn't suppress his rage. He couldn't bear to see Emily sad, and his glare toward
Douglas became fierce. Then, he suddenly slapped Douglas across the face!
Douglas didn't dodge, and the slap firmly landed on his cheek. The crisp sound made everyone in the room look at
him.
His face was forced to turn sideways due to Jansen's blow, and his cheeks ached. Still, he didn't say a word in
protest.
Emily sighed at his silence and said to her parents, "Dad, Mom, forget it. Let's go."
Alas, they refused to let Douglas off the hook. They wanted to bite his head off, but she pulled them back and
urged, "It's the trade fair today. Do you want us to turn into the guests' laughingstocks today?"

Douglas simply stood quietly and motionlessly, and his lack of response only served to rub Felicia further the wrong

Jansen hissed sullenly, "If you don't give us a reasonable explanation, don't think about going to that trade fair!"
Emily tugged at Jansen's arm and whispered, "Forget it, Dad."
Jansen couldn't help snarling at her humble demeanor. "Em, it's not that we want him to stay in the family. So, why
are you enabling him like this?! You've been married for over three years, but he cheated on you!"
