Chapter 1267 Ryan Arrives

"What? Are you still dreaming about someone beyond your league? Hurry up and leave." The security guard

scoffed and shot a disdainful look at the woman before him. He had seen many of such women, always wanting to

get their hands on rich men.

Evelyn frowned while looking at the bulky man blocking her way. It seemed like she would not be able to enter the

bar tonight, so she had to find another way in.

When the security guard saw the woman slowly leaving, he spat in the direction she left. He despised women like

her the most.

While roaming the streets, Evelyn kept contemplating what to do. She bowed her head to touch her belly. Even

though she was seven months pregnant, she was still trying to get her child's father out of trouble.

Nicole. Unknowingly, Evelyn suddenly remembered that name. It seemed like she had not heard anything about

Nicole since she and Colton got divorced. Was she dead?

Just as she was lost in thought, she heard her phone ringing repeatedly. She grabbed her phone from her bag and

saw Ryan's messages coming in, almost filling up the entire screen. She and Ryan had stopped contacting each

other since he planted the voodoo bug on Nicole. Although they had exchanged contact information, they never

reached out to each other, so the chat box remained the same since that day.

'How are things?'

'I'm talking about you and Colton.'

'I heard he's been lingering around nightclubs every day and never returns home, so I thought about asking you.'

'Reply if you see this message. I have something to tell you.'

'I won't say much here. It's not convenient. We'll meet up somewhere.'

Ryan's texts looked like he was talking to himself, and Evelyn did not know why he would send her these texts at this

moment. In the end, she ignored them.

After returning her phone to her bag, she returned to the villa Colton had arranged for her in a daze, deciding to

head to the research center tomorrow to try her luck. If Nicole was still alive, she had to make the other think of a

plan, for Colton could not continue living in such a way.

"Evelyn Wrenn, do you not check your phone?"

As it was nighttime, the place was pitch black. The streetlights on both sides of the road were broken too. Evelyn

had tried contacting the butler several times to get someone to fix those lights, but Colton's behavior toward her

might have influenced the butler, so he never called anyone to fix anything.

Evelyn looked at the figure in the distance and noticed he was tall and well-built, clearly a strong man. A woman like

her who was seven months pregnant would not be able to defend herself. "W-Who are you?"

While tremulously retreating backward, Evelyn knew she could not return to the villa while the stranger was

standing by the door, so she could only return the way she came and try calling the police.

"Don't be afraid. It's me, Ryan." Once the man spoke, Evelyn gradually recognized the man. His face and features

slowly became clearer, and she stopped moving. She stood there and felt relieved that it was not someone with

bad intentions.

"I asked you a question. Why didn't you check your phone?" Ryan did not notice the change in Evelyn's emotions but

asked frankly, for he only had his plan in mind.

Evelyn felt relieved just moments ago, but she soon felt nervous again. "I didn't see your message. My phone was

on silent mode."

Though skeptical, Ryan nodded as he leisurely sat on the brick pavement, saying, "I'm here to ask you a few

questions. At first, I thought we should find a place so that we could talk alone, but…"

Evelyn gradually approached Ryan but was afraid to get too close. She had to protect the child in her belly, after all.

"I looked around when I came and noticed you don't have many people around here, and the servants at the villa

don't care about you at all. As such, this might be the safest place." Ryan paused for a bit, unaware that Evelyn was

approaching him.
