The next day, as the first light was starting to show, Cherise was about to get up when Morris turned over and

pulled her tightly into his arms.

"Mrs. Chivers, today is New Year's Eve. Stay witha bit longer just one more hour!" Morris said in a sleepy,

teasing voice.

Cherise shook his arm. "Mr. Chivers, this is our first New Year together, let's get up early and get ready!"

Morris nestled his head into her neck. "I always disliked New Year's the most. Because every hwas filled with

laughter, and | was alone, not even wanting to visit the Chivers residence.

"On New Year's Eve, | just wanted to lock myself in the office, do overtime, like a heartless money-making

machine. | really didn't know how New Year's Eve or New Year's felt.

"I'm glad that starting this year, | have you. It's really makinglook forward to it!"
