Chapter 146

Stella was taken aback for a moment, but quickly composed herself. She wasn’t afraid at all and raised

a chair, ready to smash it.

Bonnie cowered, hugging her head and looking terrified.

“Darling!” Mitch quickly grabbed the chair from Stella, pulling her into his arms “Don’t get physical, what

if you hurt our baby? Remember what the doc said, stability is good for the baby”

Stella’s eyes burned with fury “Mitch! If you continue to defend her in front of me, I swear I’ll divorce

you!”

“No way!” Mitch answered firmly, glancing at Bonnie crouched on the floor, his gaze no longer

sympathetic but wary and disgusted.

Not only was Stella surprised by his response, Bonnie also couldn’t help but look up at him.

Ever since Neil introduced her to his social circle, her innocent and naive image had won over many,

except for Neil’s family.

Then, another person appeared at the door.

I turned my head to see Neil standing coldly, looking at the chaotic scene in the ward, his tone irritable.

“What happened?”

I’m fine, Stella just misunderstood me, so she came to ask me some questions.” Bonnie got up,

clutching her injured forehead

Her eyes were full of grievance, looking straight at Neil.

Mitchs eyes widened in anger. Bonnie’s words were essentially complaining to Neil about Stella,

weren’t they?

“Bonnie, I think my wife didn’t misunderstand you” Mitch couldn’t help but retort.

Bonnie looked visibly shocked, seemingly unable to understand why Mitch, who had always protected

her, was suddenly cold towards her.

Neil’s deep, frosty gaze moved from Bonnie to Stella and Mitch. It was hard to decipher his thoughts.

“Mitch… Did I do something wrong?” Bonnie’s eyes welled up. “I know Stella is your wife and she’s

pregnant, so I don’t want to fight with her. She wanted to hit me with a chair, I endured it, but I’m sick

too!”

Mitch’s face turned ugly. He seemed to want to spit out the words he had just heard, but after seeing

Neil, he held himself back.

I just glared at Neil, waiting for him to defend Bonnie

Neil came over and helped Bonnie sit on the bed, his voice indifferent. If you’re not feeling well, don’t

move around.”

Bonnie immediately looked like she was on the verge of tears, as if she was greatly wronged. “Mr.

Whitmore, I know many people hate me, but now even Mitch

Neil pulled out his phone and opened a video, interrupting Bonnie. “Did you post this video?”

It was the video of Bonnie apologizing to me. It had gone viral, with many people thinking I had

pressured Bonnie into apologizing.

Why was he asking about this?

Bonnie seemed taken aback, sensing something was off about Neils attitude. She carefully replied, “It

was Malinda who suggested I apologize to Irene. After all, I did hurt her. I just hoped she could forgive

me, and we could make peace…”

Her explanation sounded perfect. She shifted the blame to Malinda and kept the good intentions for

herself

Neil might be moved by what a kind girl she is!

“Bonnie.” Neil interrupted Bonnie again, his expression as cold as frost. “I told you not to try to hurt her

in any way. What are you trying to express with this video? That she hates you, bullies you, so you had

to apologize?”

His words left me, Stella, and Mitch stunned.

Bonnie just stared at him in a daze.

Soon, two lines of tears slid down Bonnie’s cheeks. She was full of grievance. “Everything’s my fault,

even apologizing is my fault, Mr. Whitmore. If you liked Irene, why did you show interest in me in the

first place? What’s so good about me that you’d help me, get close to me? Now that I fell for you, but

you’re distancing yourself from me, blaming me. What should I do?!*

She was still pretending she didn’t know about Karina.

Neil ignored Bonnie’s grievance Tl release a statement This matter ends here. I hope you don’t bother

me with such unnecessary troubles in the future. Just wait for the day you can have surgery.”

“I understand. I won’t overstep my bounds again” Bonnie wiped away her tears, showing a bitter smile,

then looked at me, as if blaming me

I was still immersed in Neil’s cold blame towards Bonnie. What were his feelings towards Bonnie? Was

it purely because of Karina’s heart that he kept indulging her?

Karina was his biggest regret in life, and I understood his inability to let go.

Now the heart that was beating inside Bonnie had once loved him.

But why do I feel so desolate at this moment? I didn’t lose to a living person, but to a memory less

heart

“Stella, I’m going to leave.” I felt a bit suffocated and told Stella before turning around and leaving.

Stella immediately followed, with Mitch close behind.

In the elevator, Stella was puzzled. “What’s Neil’s deal? Why was he so cold to Bonnie? Bonnie’s

already into him, shouldn’t he be sympathetic?”

I looked at Mitch, who also looked confused. “Bonnie has a heart condition, he should be more

concerned about her.”

I doubted he knew about Bonnie’s heart transplant, thus being somewhat clueless about the situation.

Now, besides me, Neil, Bonnie, and Kate, no one should know the inside story. Even Oscar and Russel

I had never told.

This wasn’t something I needed to reveal. They would naturally find out when the time was right.

Just as I exited the hospital, Kate walked up to me. The moment she saw me, her face subtly changed,

showing a hint of repulsion and disgust.

I talked to Orlando a couple of days ago, and heard that Kate quit her job to take care of Bonnie when

she was sick.

I gotta hand it to Kate for being so good to Bonnie

“What the hell are you doing here? Here to stress Bonnie out again?” Kate asked coldly.

Rena, whos she? Stella asked with a frown

“An old colleague from when I worked at Caladonia. Her name’s Kate, I replied

Stella has a good memory, especially for those unpleasant things I’ve mentioned before. She

remembers them as if she’s a memo pad, crystal clear.

Kates identity, and her current relationship with Bonnie, I’m sure Stella remembers it all too clearly

The next second, Stella was giving me this look of utter disdain. “Oh, so it’s Bonnie’s friend. What a

hypocrite!”

Just because Bonnie happens to look like her deceased sister, she acts all high and mighty, putting on

this show of being all moral and righteous. If that aint a hypocrite then I don’t know what is.

Hearing this, Kate turned red with anger. Watch your mouth! Don’t think I won’t lay a hand on you

because you’re pregnant”

I immediately stepped in front of Stella, fixing Kate with a cold stare if you dare lay a finger on her, I

can’t promise what will happen to you, Kate. You’re in my territory now.”
