Chapter 140 No More Blood Transfusion This Time
“Are you home now?”
Hearst‘s voice came from the phone, as pleasant as ever.
“Yes. Why?” Anaya continued to search for movies lising the remote.
“Open the door.”
Anaya tightened her grip on the remote. She had a presumption.
She thought, didn‘t he say he would stay abroad for at least a week?
He‘s back already?
She stood up and walked towards the entrance.
She asked the man on the other end of the line, “Are you at the door?”
Hearst did not answer and waited for her to open the door to verify.
Anaya approached the entrance, and for some reason, she had some anticipation.
She opened the door.
In the empty corridor, she saw nothing but a small bottle of candy on the ground.
“You are not back?” Anaya bent down and picked up the bottle.
“No. I‘ın still in Las Vegas.”
Anaya leaned against the door and could not help but smile, “Mr. Helms, since when do you make
those small jokes?”
“Samuel said I should keep you at arm‘s length. That‘s the way to attract you always.”
Anaya teased, “He sounds like a relationship therapist.”
“Then tell me, were you looking forward to it just now?” She heard his pleasant, low laugh from the
phone.
“Have a guess.” Anaya fiddled with the bottle in her hand.
“I think you were expecting me.”
Anaya refused to admit it. She said, “Mr. Helms, you‘re reading too inuch into it.”
Hearst did not argue with her. The two chatted for a while and ended the call.

ya was in a much better mood. After dinner and watching a movie, slie went back to bed.
The next day, she received a text message from Kelton, asking her to go out for dinner at night.
Since Karley returned, she had not been in touch with Kelton.
Now that Karley was confirmed as Adams’ granddaughter, Kelton was no longer Anaya‘s cousin.
Alter the matter was exposed, Anaya had not contacted anyone from the Lomas family, more or less
because she was avoiding them
But she couldn‘t just run away from the fact
She replied to Kelton: “Text me the time and place.”
After receiving his reply. Anaya contacted the private investigator who had worked for her earlier and
had her parents identities checked.
Though it was a long shot, she would try.
It was night, and Anaya went to the hotel.
Kelion booked a private room. Anaya asked the hotel reception for the floor and headed for the
elevator.
When she went over, the elevator doors were about to close.
she quickened her pace and walked over, pressing the up button.
The elevator doors opened again, and she noticed the four people inside.
It was Joshua, Lexie, Bria, and Cecilia.
It was like a small family gathering
When the four people saw her, they had different expressions.
Without changing her expression, Anaya stepped into the elevator to press the floor button, only to find
that the button for the floor she was heading to had been pressed already.
she would go to the same floor as those from the Maltz family.
Seeing that Anaya did not press the floor button, Bria muttered, “She isn‘t going to follow us up, is
she?”
Anaya‘s deterrence last time worked. Bria didn‘t dare to provoke Anaya directly.
Anaya ignored Bria and quietly watched the elevator doors close.
“Anaya, do you want to eat with us?”
It wasn‘t Lexie who offered.
It was Cecilia.
Anaya was slightly surprised.
Anaya thought, normally, there‘s only one reason why Lexie would talk to me. Lexie wants to maintain her gentle and kand image
Cecilla, on the other hand, has always been at odds with me. Why would she be so enthusiastic today?
Ladie‘s face was originally full of smiles, but when she heard Cecilia‘s invitation, the look in her eyes
suddenly changed.
Lexie glanced at Cecilia with a hint of warning in her eyes.
Lexie thought, does she find me not good enough? And she is now trying to win Anaya back?
Cecilia ignored texle‘s gaze and continued staring at Anaya, waiting for Anaya‘s reply.
Anaya was just about to refuse when she heard Joshua say, “Mom, why did you invite her? she must
have heard about our plans and deliberately followed us here. Isn‘t that exactly what she wants?”
Anaya pursed her lips. “Mr. Maltz, don‘t you think you think too highly of yourself? I‘m here to eat with
my cousin. How come i‘m a stalker in your mouth?
“Isn‘t stalking your favorite thing to do? i‘m not you, Mr. Maltz. Such a kind of thing is too lowly for me.”
Joshua had indeed done a lew unspeakable things before, and for a time, he couldn‘t find any words to
refute Anava.
when the elevator reached the floor, Anaya got out first. Before leaving, she “kindly” warned, “Mr. Maltz,
you are just starting to walk again, and you go for a long way to cat. You should be careful.
“Don‘t get into another car accident or something like that in case you lose too much blood again. I
won‘t have a blood transfusion for you so easily this time.”
After she finished speaking, she left directly.
Joshua frowned.
What did she mean by that? Lose her blood for him?
What the heck was she talking about?
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmLexie noticed Joshua‘s expression and hurriedly said, “Joshua, let‘s go to the private room. I‘m a bit
hungry.”
Joshua nodded but still frowned.
Anaya found the private room Kelton mentioned, pushed open the door, and walked in.
The people in the private room were those from the Lomas family and ... Karley.
They were also stunned when they saw her.
“Anaya, why are you liere?” Kelton stood up from the chair, feeling a little uneasy.
“Didn‘t you text me to come over?” asked Anaya.
Kelton was a little confused. “No.”
“You didn‘t text me this morning?”
Kelton shook his head. To make sure, he took out his phone and checked it again.
He did not text Anaya.
Anaya realized something. “Did Karley use your phone?”
Kelton glanced at Karley suspiciously. “I don‘t know. I didn‘t see her use it. I did leave my phone next to
her this morning, though...”
Seeing that Kelton doubted her, Karley hurriedly said, “Kelton, I wasn‘t even near your phone.”
“Then where did this message come from?‘ Anaya took out her phone and showed then the message.
Karley was a little arerieved, her voice soft, “I don‘t know...”
Anaya looked at Karley with ridicule in her eyes.
Laila Julius, Karley‘s mom, opened her mouth to ease the tension. She said, “Anaya, I think it‘s a
misunderstanding. Karley is a good girl, and she won‘t do anything like that. Now that you‘re here, why
don‘t you sit down and join us?”
“I‘ll pass, thanks.” Anaya looked away from Karley. “I think it‘s a family dinner.”
Anaya refused casually, whille Karley caught the word “family” said by Anaya. Karley said, “Anaya,
although I am my uncle and aunt‘s niece, we think of you as family, too, sit down and cal together with
us.”
Karley clearly drew a line between Anaya and the rest of them
Karley said it as if she was the hostess, while Anaya was the cuest.
“OK” Anaya did not refuse, she raised her tosy lips.
