Eileen got into Jasper’s car. The air conditioning inside wasn’t too cold. She still had her coat draped
over her. It was a bit late when she headed back. Eileen leaned against the car seat, already asleep
with her eyes closed.
Seeing this through the rearview mirror, Fabian dimmed the lights inside the car. It was so quiet that her
shallow breathing could be heard clearly.
Jasper took out a blanket he had prepared and gently covered her. Eileen adjusted her posture
comfortably. Feeling the movement, she slowly opened her eyes. Her vision was a bit blurry until she
recognized the familiar face.
“Sorry for waking you up,” he said gently.
Eileen glanced down at the blanket on her body, shaking her head slightly in a sleepy state. “I’m fine.

Eileen took off her suit and put it aside. After finishing the milk, she went to the room to grab clean
clothes and take a shower.
Half an hour later, she came out of the bathroom and wiped her hair with a dry towel. She was about to
go back to her room when her phone started vibrating. It was a call from Jasper.
Eileen paused in her actions, quietly watching as the call was automatically ended. She withdrew her
gaze and sat on the edge of the bed, feeling a heaviness in her heart as if someone was slowly piling
stones on her chest.
In truth, she had numerous opportunities to reject Jasper’s advances. Tonight, she had planned to
clarify things with him. However, she hadn’t expected Richard to disclose his illness to her.
