Chapter 697
The security guard was stunned for a moment. However, he quickly guessed that Sylvie was probably
doing that to gain Herbert‘s sympathy. His disdain toward her intensified, and he ignored her.
Even as the rain grew heavier. Sylvic did not move. She continued kneeling there with her back tall and
straight
Soon after that, a black car drove up. Seeing the familiar license plate, the security guard opened the
gates immediately while kecping a wary cye on Sylvie, ready to prevent her from rushing inside.
Before the car drove in, Zayne looked out the car window as he sat in the rear passenger seat and saw
Sylvie kneeling in front of the gates.
She was drenched to the skin, and her wet hair stuck to her face and shoulders.
He sat forward subconsciously, thinking of telling the driver to stop the car. But when he remembered
how she had deceived Herbert, he bit back the words on the tip of his tongue.
Meanwhile, the housekeeper was in the midst of preparing dinner.

spirits.
Since his three sons were busy working, his grandchildren accompanied him.
Racked with guilt as he was the one who had brought Genevieve and the others, Yuvan had not
stepped away from Herbert‘s side since the day before,
When Zayne went upstairs, he saw Yuvan playing chess with Herbert.
“Grandpa.”
“Oh, you‘re here!” As soon as Herbert saw Zayne walking in, he forgot all about playing chess and
quickly beckoned to the latter. “I‘m fine. All of you don‘t have to stay home and accompany me.”
Zayne shrugged his shoulders and smiled. “I don‘t have much to do at school anyway, so I thought I‘d come and have dinner and play chess with you.”
“I think you‘re just here to have fun,” Yuvan responded jokingly.
“Yeah, you‘re right,” Zayne admited readily. He gestured with his hands as he continued, “I just finished
memorizing iwo books that were this thick not too long ago. They were even thicker than a brick”
Then, he added with a downcast expression, “If I‘d known studying law would be so tiring. I‘d have
gone to join the military.”
Herbert was amused by his grandson‘s krumbling, “Were they Mr. Sasnett‘s notes?”
Zayne nodded in response.
Just then the housekeeper came upstairs and knocked on the door to tell them that dinner was ready.
As Herbert and his two grandsons headed downstairs, he told Zayne, it may be difficult now, but when
you succeed in the future your father and I will be very happy.”
Kevin Sasncit was a famous attorney general in Baykeep and quite close to Herbert‘s second son,
Thanks to his help, Felix was able to rise swiftly within the political circles and gain a solid footing
I have many grandsons, but apart from two who joined the military. the others have ventured into various fields. Now, Zayne has the chance to enter the judiciary, and he has Kevin‘s assistance. Once
Zayne gains a firm foothold in those circles, the Zeigler family will be able to prosper for many more years to come.
Zayne murmured an acknowledgment. “Don‘t worry, Grandpa. I won‘t let you down.”
“Good.” Herbert broke into a relieved smile.
Smiling coyly, Yuvan hurried over and slung an arm over Zayne‘s shoulders. “I heard Mr. Sasnett‘s
daughter likes you and even confessed her feelings to you.”

Yuvan replied, “Don‘t mind where I heard it. Zayne, how could you let a girl confess her feelings to you?
You‘re such an embarrassment.”
Herbert turned toward Zayne when he heard that. “Is it Faith Sasnett?”
“Yes. However, I had something to do that day and couldn‘t attend the party, so I didn‘t meet Faith.”
Once they entered the dining room, Zayne pulled a chair out and sat down,
“I met her when I went to the Sasnett residence previously. She‘s beautiful and courtcous,” Herbert
recalled.
If Zayne really does end up with Faith, the Zeiglers and the Sasnetts will be in–laws.
When Zayne heard that and noticed that Herbert seemed to approve of Faith, he could not help saying,
“Grandpa, to be honest, I‘ve no plans to start dating. All I want is to focus on my studies so that I can
lend my uncle a helping hand in the future.”
“Does that mean you don‘t like her?” Herbert asked.
Before Zayne could reply, Yuvan piped up. “Faith‘s father is a high–ranking official and your lecturer. If
you date her you‘d only benefit from it.”
Zayne snorted. “I don‘t want such benefits. If you‘re so interested, why don‘t you date her?”
