Chapter 237 I Miss You
Freya felt something was off after she escorted Radley to the window.
Although he had entered through the window, it wouldn’t be right to let him leave through it again.
“Forget it. I’ll take you out,” Freya whispered. “We’re on the second floor, after all. I can’t afford for you to get hurt
if you fall.”
With that, she took Radley’s hand, intending to stop him from jumping out of the window.
However, when she touched his warm palm, she blushed.
Immediately, she held his hand even tighter.
Freya quietly opened the door, remembering the lesson she learned when she bumped into Brisa at the villa last
time.
She first stuck out half of her head, made sure there was no one in the corridor, then pulled Radley out.
Ten minutes later, Freya avoided all the surveillance and patrol personnel and brought Radley to the front gate of
Kaufmann Residence.
“Alright. You should
go back now.” Freya was in much better spirits now.
Radley’s gaze was meaningful as he spoke, “The next time I come back, it will be after signing
the contract.”
“Okay.” Freya nodded. “That’s only a few days left, and I will keep an eye on West Geft.”
She switched the topic to West Geft again.
Radley smirked. “I’m not talking about West Geft. I’m concerned about whether miss me.”
you will
Freya’s face turned slightly crimson. “It’ll only be a few days.”
After she finished speaking, she saw Radley still staring at her.
“I’ll try to miss you.”
Radley chuckled softly, amused by Freya’s somewhat shy and helpless response.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“Now that we’re in a relationship, what should a normal couple do when they’re apart?” he
asked.
Freya glared at him. “Say goodbye!”
She knew what he meant. He was expecting a farewell kiss, but she couldn’t do it right now.
Radley chuckled softly then hugged Freya gently.
However, it was merely a light hug before they separated.
“I won’t push you too hard, and I’ll wait for you to accept me gradually,” Radley remarked before turning around
and walking back to his car.
Back at Kaufmann Residence, Freya touched her chest. When she was with Radley tonight, her heart was always
beating fast as if there was a palpitation spreading from her chest.
She and Radley were officially dating now.
The realization kept creeping up Freya’s mind. She sighed softly, wondering if she was too impulsive.
How could she agree to it?
When she saw Radley appear in the room, she thought about how he had flown back from Iternia overnight.
A smile appeared on her lips.
She secretly told herself that since she had made the decision, she shouldn’t turn back on it.
The next day, Freya didn’t get up until half past ten o’clock in the morning. When she went. downstairs, her mother,
Sylvia, Sarah Burgess, and Ashley were already sitting in the living
room.
“Good morning, Grandma and Aunt Ashley.”
“Good morning, Frey,” they responded with smiles.
Sylvia glanced at Freya. “Why did you get up so late today? Didn’t you rest early last night?”
“I’ve been feeling a bit sleepy lately,” Freya uttered nervously.
“It’s fine. Let her sleep a little longer,” Sarah laughed and then looked at Freya tenderly, “Frey, we’ve already had
breakfast. Go and have yours.”
Freya happily agreed.
“Mom, don’t spoil her. She’s not a child anymore. In a little over two months, she’ll be a mother herself.” Sarah’s
voice sounded from behind. A happy smile appeared on Freya’s face. If only Grandma will always be here at
Kaufmann Residence.
After breakfast, Freya got ready and went to West Geft Joint Department.
Before leaving, she was nagged at by Sylvia again, while Sarah chimed in to defend her, reminding Freya to be
careful on the way.
Freya drove to West Geft Joint Department and went to Brandon’s office first.
Brandon was in his office, carving wood. He looked up and waved when he saw Freya come in. “You came at the
right time. Come here. I’ll teach you something new today.”
Freya was stationed at West Geft Joint Department and didn’t have many tasks at hand. Hence, she didn’t return to
her own office and instead learned how to make a multipurpose box with Brandon.
The making of the multipurpose box was very complicated. Although it was called a multipurpose box, it was more
like a box with hidden compartments.
It had much better concealment than a multipurpose box.
“This thing can keep a lot of stuff inside,” Freya praised when she saw the finished. multipurpose box.
Brandon looked at the finished box with great pride.
“Of course. I have one at home, and I’ve been using it to hide my personal savings for decades. My wife has never
found it.”
Freya chuckled, feeling like she had just found out about a big secret.
“It will look even better after applying paint.” Brandon sighed, “These kinds of boxes could be enhanced with inlay
work, but the craftsmanship of inlay work has been declining. Most of them are done by machines now. The soul is
completely lost in machines.”
“Things that can’t be mass-produced will always be abandoned by capitalism,” Freya sighed softly while playing with
the multipurpose box in her hands.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmFrom the surface, the multipurpose box looked like a two-layer antique dressing box.
Even when one opened the drawer, the depth of it seemed to fit perfectly with the box, completely making it
impossible for one to imagine that there was a hidden layer.
This was something Brandon taught her by using the combination and overlay of wood to create visual deception.
There seemed to be only a thin layer at the bottom, but in fact, it was deep enough to hold something an inch
thick..
Freya stared at it for a while and suddenly had a thought.
The Compendium of Medical Wisdom was currently placed on her bookshelf in her bedroom, and although she hid
it in another book, she still felt somewhat uneasy.
Braxton mentioned last time that even if the thief didn’t know where the book was, they could easily steal The
Compendium of Medical Wisdom if they stole the book that hid it.
On the other hand, this multipurpose box would serve as a great hiding place for The Compendium of Medical
Wisdom.
Freya pondered for a moment.
“Master, teach me how to make another multipurpose box.”
Brandon looked at Freya suspiciously. “Why are you so diligent today?”
The master and apprentice worked around until the afternoon. Just then, Freya’s phone, which she had placed on
the table, rang. She walked over, glanced at Brandon, and went to a corner to answer the call.
On the other end, Radley’s low voice carried concern. “Did you go to West Geft Joint Department?”
“Yes. I have to keep an eye on things here since you’re not around. The matters here are almost done, so nothing
should go wrong,” Freya whispered.
Radley responded, “Take care of yourself and call me if anything happens.”
Freya checked the time. “Aren’t you supposed to be playing golf with Wilson now?”
“I am, but I sneaked out to call you.” Radley lowered his voice. “I miss you, so I called.”
Freya’s face turned crimson instantly. In a volume only she could hear, she uttered, “Then, come back soon.”
For someone like Radley, who was cold and aloof, saying “I miss you” was probably the most straightforward
expression of affection.
