Chapter 144 Jamie Wakes Up
Freya was about to leave after going through all the necessary precautions with the nurses.
Til take my leave now. Stay put and rest well,” Freya said.
But, Radley was slightly disappointed, and he asked, “When will you be back again?”
She thought for a moment before she answered. “Tomorrow. I’ll come and have a look at your examination results
tomorrow.”
At that moment, Radley didn’t mind her acting like a doctor talking to a patient as long as she would be back for
him.
Freya did not leave the hospital immediately after leaving the ward. She took a detour to the gynecological
department at the adjacent building for a checkup instead.
She was worried about excessive fatigue after these days. There was a baby in her belly after all.
The examination result came as a relief as the baby was perfectly fine.
Then, she called Brisa, who then quickly drove over to pick her up.
Brisa kept on reprimanding her on their way back to the Kaufmann Residence.
“You’re pregnant. How can you still think of others before yourself? I understand that Radley only got injured
because he wanted to save you. But, you should also think about the well–being of your baby!” Brisa shouted.
Freya only smiled awkwardly. Tm still fine, see? Besides. I went for a checkup today, and the results showed that
the baby is doing great.”
At that time, Freya felt that her baby made her proud as it didn’t cause her any worry.
However, Brisa held on to her opinion. “Can’t you care more about yourself? What if something bad happens? It’ll
be too late then!”
Freya knew she had been careless, and she remained silent.
Brisa appeared to be in a hurry to make her leave after she dropped Freya off at the Kaufmann Residence.
Curious, Freya asked, “Don’t you want to come in for a drink? Why are you in a rush?”
But Brisa only gave her a cold gaze. “Why am I in a hurry? I’m in a hurry to find out who tried to have a go “at
you!”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtFreya went straight to her bedroom on the second floor after returning to the Kaufmann Residence.
She had been with Radley nearly all the time except for meals and naps these days.
She sat on the chair beside the window as a cool breeze blew past her. She felt her mood become complicated.
Now, she didn’t even know how she felt toward Radley. All she knew was that she had a strong desire to marry him
seeing how he risked his life to save her.
Not even the breeze could carry the struggles in Freya’s heart at that moment, and she pinched her forehead to
stop herself from thinking about it any further.
A week had passed quickly. Freya went to the hospital three times during that time.
Fortunately, Radley’s wounds steered clear of any infection, and everything was looking brightly
However, Freya only looked at the examination results when she was in the hospital. She did not visit Radley in the
ward.
She didn’t know how she would face him now that her emotion toward him was complicated. She didn’t want to see
him for the time being.
Today should be the day Radley was discharged from the hospital. Freya went to Jamie’s ward after reading the
examination results.
Jamie should wake up any time now after the surgery last time according to her calculation.
It was the afternoon, which was the peak hour for students at Evergreen University as well.
Freya quietly opened the door to Jamie’s ward, and she found Edward was missing. Only the two nurses
immediately looked up at her after she opened the door.
Then, Freya looked at the bed as she thought Jamie was still unconscious.
But to her surprise, the man whom she thought would be lying on the sickbed with his eyes closed was now sitting
on the edge of the bed instead.
At that moment, Jamie instinctively looked at her with a completely different aura from when he was unconscious.
His eyes were deep and they gave off a mysterious look.
Freya’s eyes flickered as she knew Jamie was no ordinary person.
“You must be…” Then, Jamie looked at Freya and suddenly had a laugh. “Miss Kaufmann, am I right?”
Freya smiled politely. “Do you recognize me?”
“I woke up yesterday. Edward told me about you, and he showed me your photo. He also told me about what
happened after I got sick. You are the Frasers‘ patron,” Jamie replied with a smile.
“Thank you
for looking after my brother during my illness. Edward might have strayed away from his path and ruined his life
without you.”
Freya smiled lightly. “Edward is a sensible person. I always treat him as my own younger brother. He is a very
talented person as well.”
She noticed that Jamie’s gaze fell on her hand during their conversation.
Jamie continued in a calm tone after a few seconds, “Edward also said that you were able to have the renowned
Doctor Harlan in charge of my surgery, and that’s why the surgery was so successful. Thank you.”
Freya had a few calluses on her hand due to practicing surgeries for an extended time.
At that moment, she felt that Jamie’s words carried a hint of probing, but surely he shouldn’t notice her calluses
even with his keen observation skills.
Freya chatted with Jamie for a while, and she found that he didn’t seem like a child growing up in a moderately
prosperous environment.
The way Jamie conducted himself in front of Freya was classy. He carried a noble aura during every gesture and
word, and he remained calm no matter what was said.
He was very polite and humble in his speech and actions, but there was a sense of confidence emanating from him
at the same time.
Freya was a little puzzled, but she didn’t ask him about it. It was his private matter after all.
After visiting Jamie’s ward, Freya returned to the Kaufmann Residence,
She didn’t want to have anything to do with the hospital for the time being now that Radley had been discharged
from the hospital and Jamie was also looking good.
Freya logged onto her computer and looked at the recent events of the Joint Department in West Geft after
returning to the Kaufmann Residence.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmRadley was bedridden, and she was looking after him most of the time.
There were matters left unattended in the Joint Department in West Geft due to that.
Luckily, they weren’t too big of a deal. There was still someone in charge during these times after all. However,
they all needed her to make decisions personally.
It took Freya a while to read all the documents and deal with the matters.
She took a break after that, and she logged onto The Green Flamation forum.
Freya knew that the assassin who targeted her was most likely the one who accepted the mission given by Rose
Zero.
She also believed that the group from The Compendium of Medical Wisdom wouldn’t do it in quick succession at the
moment.
Freya recalled what Killblade had reminded her. Someone had taken on the mission given by Rose Zero and she
needed to be careful..
However, it still caught Freya off guard, and she couldn’t prevent it.
Meanwhile, the administrators of The Green Flamation forum, Tisch, Ink, and Heartless Scoundrel were discussing
Freya’s encounter.
Freya raised an eyebrow before she typed out a message through her ID by the name of Green Scylla. ‘It seems
like Tisch had exposed my identity!
Tisch replied, “You’ll be dead otherwise!”
On the other hand, Heartless Scoundrel and Ink were very excited. ‘We never thought that Green Scylla was
actually a woman. Moreover, she’s Freya of the Kaufmann family!”
Freya laughed before she replied, “I’m not the only one with a title around here. The founder of The
Green Flamation forum, Mr. Ink, is also a reputable gentleman in Hartterre.”
Ink asked. ‘Green Scylla! Did you secretly investigate me?”
But. Freya only laughed and typed, ‘Not secretly. I did it openly because your IP address is not well hidden by any
means.
The IP address on the dark web changed often, but they followed each other on Twitter.
Thus, Freya could easily access information about them.
Then, Ink typed out, ‘I feel like I’m naked in front of Green Scylla.
Heartless Scoundrel replied, ‘Same here.
