Chapter 208 Go Back To Save Nancy (2)
“That’s impossible,” Puck exclaimed, visibly agitated, as he stared at Nancy in disbelief.
Nancy continued, “But it’s true. Nicholas and I are divorced. Do you think they would leave a small debt like this
unresolved? Nicholas’ family is wealthy. That’s why it’s pointless to take me.” Her heart raced. She knew she
couldn’t turn back now. If she couldn’t save herself, she would die. She understood that her survival depended on
her wit.
Desperately hoping to wear down her captors, she aimed to portray herself as worthless, in the hope that they
might release her. She knew the chances of that happening were slim, but she wanted to take a chance.
Just as she finished speaking, she could sense the man wavering. Just when she thought there was hope, he
abruptly turned around and glared at her.
“You’re ten years too early to engage in psychological warfare with me, girl. I don’t care if you’re divorced. Either
the Sallows pay me, and I let you go, or…” Puck raised his hand and swung it down towards her neck. “I get rid of
you and pretend this never happened.”.
Panic surged through her. Her only escape route was blocked, and she thought to herself, Am I really going to die
here?
It was a long night. Nancy was tied to a pole, her limbs tightly bound. The ground was icy, and she sat on it, her
entire body cold and stiff. The back of her head throbbed in pain. She remembered how it got hit. Hugo shoved her

The bleeding had stopped, but the pain persisted. Every time the pain flared up, her head felt like it would explode.
With each wave of pain, she leaned against the pillar and took deep breaths, trying to alleviate the agony.
Once again, the pain surged. She gripped the hay on the ground as tightly as she could. Her fingernails dug into her
flesh, but the pain in her body was still more intense. Sweat covered her face and soaked her shirt.
And then, the moon rose into the sky. Nancy stared at it, stunned, and thought, What a beautiful moon. Look,
Nicholas. The moon is so big. So beautiful. Can you see it where you are, too?
The thought of Nicholas filled her with longing and regret. She regretted never asking him who the woman on the
call was. She regretted not being braver and stronger. If she had asked him that question. that night, perhaps
things would have turned out differently.
Thoughts raced through her mind. You’ve been gone for a week, Nicholas. I miss you, you know. Do you
me?
miss
The more she dwelled on it, the sadder she felt. Something squeezed her heart, suffocating her. Eventually, she
drifted off to sleep, but then a basin of cold water splashed over her, jolting her awake and drenching her
completely.
The bone-chilling temperature brought her back to consciousness. Shivering, she snarled, “What do
you want?”
Puck sneered at her. “Time to see what happens to you. Let’s see if you’ll live or die.”
“No, I won’t go.” Nancy resisted immediately, but her strength was no match for her abductors.
A short while later, she was taken to the top of a mountain. There was a small plateau, but jagged stones
surrounded them, and below them were cliffs leading to an endless abyss. One glance was enough to fill anyone
with horror. They arrived in a cable car.
“Take her over there,” Puck ordered. She was dragged to the edge of a cliff. The winds howled.
Nancy’s clothes billowed, and she trembled in fear. She opened her mouth, but no words came out. Her heart
pounded so fiercely that it felt like it could burst out of her chest. She could feel death standing right beside her,
gripping her arm.
Yes, she was scared. She was terrified. Even though her mother couldn’t spend any more time with her, she still
wanted to live. She still wanted to be in Nicholas’ embrace once more. She lacked the courage to look behind her.
She closed her eyes, and as her heart urged her, she shouted, “Nicholas! Nicholas, save me! Where are you? I’m
scared! Nicholas, I don’t want to leave you!”
She never expected that Puck had Nicholas on the call.
“Don’t be afraid, Nancy. I’m coming right away. I won’t leave you alone.”
Wait? I recognize that voice. Her eyes snapped open, and she looked ahead in disbelief. When she saw that Puck
had used her phone to call Nicholas, she was filled with surprise and fear.
She was surprised that he would come, but she feared for his life. Nicholas was risking everything for her. She was

her mouth tightly sealed, refusing to let her talk.
Panicked, Nancy widened her eyes and looked ahead. She heard Puck say, “You have ten minutes, Mr. Sallow. Listen
closely to the sounds.” And then Puck reloaded his
gun.
Nicholas’ eyes turned red, and he roared, “I’m coming right away! I’m warning you, if she’s harmed, I’ll kill you!”
“Calm down, Mr. Sallow. Getting so angry over a woman. Oh, just a friendly reminder. She’s on the edge of a cliff. If
you don’t give me enough money, I might get a bit too angry, and your wife might just
die.”
“I’m warning you, don’t touch her!” Nicholas roared.
“You have ten minutes. Do your best, Mr. Sallow.” Puck hung up.
Nicholas climbed up the mountain path as fast as he could. Despite being drenched in sweat and breathing heavily,
he continued climbing. He knew Nancy was there. If he failed to reach her, he would never see her again. He would
save her even if it meant risking his own life. “I’m coming, Nancy. Hold on. You must hold on,” Nicholas said,
reassuring himself.
And then, he ascended the final slope and reached the peak. Nancy was held on the edge of a cliff by two men, her
clothes billowing. The sight shattered Nicholas. “Nancy!” he cried, his heart breaking for her.
“Nicholas, is it really you?” Nancy’s eyes widened, and she looked at Nicholas in disbelief.
