Chapter 108 You’re Not Allowed to Go, Nicholas
“I’ll be right there,” Nicholas said, his gaze turning cold as he ended the call.
Nancy mustered the courage to rush forward, blocking his path with outstretched arms.
What are you doing, Nancy?”
“You’re not allowed to go,” she declared, her eyes filled with stubborn resolve.
Nicholas expression grew even colder. His voice turned sharp and steely. “Get out of the way.”
“I said you’re not allowed to go.” Nancy repeated. She continued, “You’re my husband, Nicholas. We’re married,
and I refuse to let you abandon me to see that homewrecker who’s destroying our marriage.” She used the term
‘homewrecker’ without hesitation, something she’d never done. before, even in the heat of her anger. However,
she let her emotions flow freely this time, caring little about holding back.
When did you start speaking so harshly, Nancy?”
She smiled and said, “I’ve always been sharp. I’m like a porcupine covered in quills. Didn’t you know that, Mr.
Sallow?”
She had never been one to conform to societal norms. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have survived her challenging
upbringing. All her previous meekness and compliance were a testament to her love
for him.
What about him? He took her for granted. She had shed her quills for him, exposing only her soft body and tender
heart. In return, he provided no protection, no armor-just one storm after another, each more piercing than the
last, each a mortal blow. She had never been one to make a scene, but this time, she was determined to fight for

“I always thought you were a kind, gentle, and mature young woman, Nancy. I hope you won’t change my
impression of you.”
“You got it all wrong then. I’m not kind and gentle, and I’m far from mature. I’m a vicious and heinous woman.”
For some inexplicable reason, hearing Nancy describe herself this way pained Nicholas. He uttered, “Don’t degrade
yourself like that.”
She thought, Hah! Degrade, huh? “Have you forgotten, Nicholas? You said so yourself. You said I was vicious and
heinous.”
His phone rang again, and his patience ran out. He grabbed her and pushed her aside.
Just as he was about to leave, he heard a loud crash. Something had fallen from the window.

“Nancy Nicholas turned around and shouted, fearing the worst. His heart skipped a beat when he couldn’t spot
Nancy by the window. Panic set in, he uttered, “Nancy…” He rushed to the window and looked down, only to find
that it was a vase that had fallen. He breathed a sigh of rehet but no sign of her. He quickly made a call. “Send
some people over, including two females.”
Nancy emerged from the bathroom, staring at him in disbelief. “What do you mean by this? Are you locking me
up?”
I’m not locking you up. I just want them to keep an eye on you in case you do something foolish,” he explained.
I won’t do anything foolish. Since you can’t wait to go and see Madelline, go on. Go right now. Don’t worry. I won’t
stop you.” The light had gone out in her eyes, the one she had been desperately chasing-
Nicholas only left after giving instructions to the bodyguards who had arrived.
Nancy heard everything. It was just a simple instruction. He wanted them to stay with her at all
times.
The four male bodyguards were stationed outside, while the two female bodyguards remained in the room with
her. They were to accompany her, whether eating or sleeping, never allowing her out of their sight.
Nancy laughed hollowly, feeling it was all unnecessary. Where would she even go? What did she have left? She had
no family; her mother’s passing had seen to that.
When Nicholas arrived at the hospital, Madelline was still on the roof, her hair disheveled, looking utterly distraught.
She sat in a wheelchair and slowly inched it forward. What was most alarming was that the wheelchair was just
inches away from the roof’s edge.
He was in turmoil seeing that.
Alice played along with the act, her voice trembling as she spoke. “Come down right now, Madelline! Please, I beg
you. It’s too dangerous.”
Madelline cried out, “I don’t want to. Alice, I can’t face anyone anymore.”
Alice persisted, “We can resolve this. Come down, and let’s figure this out together. Nicholas will help you. He won’t
abandon you.”
“No, Madelline screamed hysterically. “He won’t! He doesn’t care about me anymore!” She added, “All Nicholas
cares about is Nancy! He abandoned me a long time ago! My life doesn’t matter to him anymore. Do you know how
sad I am, Alice? I love him, but he doesn’t care about me.”

with him. If we hadn’t, I would’ve been the luckiest woman in the world. I shouldn’t have broken up with him. I
regret it. Do you know how much I regret doing that? I wish

Madelline’s acting skills were impressive, and Nicholas’ heart ached as he listened to her tearful pleas
“Madelline. He finally spoke up. “I’m here. I didn’t abandon you. I care about your life.” he added. “Come here. I
promise I’ll help you deal with this. Your reputation won’t be ruined.”
“Nicholas Her voice trembled with agitation. “Why are you here? I thought you wouldn’t come. You still care about
me, don’t you? You still love me, right?”
She smiled through her teary eyes as she wheeled herself toward him. However, just as she was about to reach
him, he reached out, firmly grabbing her wheelchair and escorting her back to her hospital room.
Once they were there, she saw a row of men dressed in suits. She knew he was concerned she might attempt to
escape again.
After carefully placing Madelline on her bed, Nicholas turned to Alice and instructed. “Bring the doctor over.”
“Got it, Nicholas. Right away.”
The doctor conducted a thorough examination and assured that Madelline was in good health.
Nicholas sighed in relief and said, “Get some rest.”
Throughout this ordeal, Madelline believed she had fought a successful battle and emerged victorious. Little did she
know that the man would soon depart after saying these words, a reality that had never crossed her wildest
dreams.
