Chapter 575
Cynthia wanted to talk to Joshua again, sensing something was seriously wrong with him.
However, Joshua showed no intention of having another conversation. After speaking, he
silently returned to his room.
Observing his behavior, Cynthia glanced at the time. It was only a little past eight in the
evening, so she sent a message to
Felix.
[Uncle Felix, I want to ask about Joshua’s childhood. Are you busy?]
Shortly after sending the message, Felix called her.
“Uncle Felix,” Cynthia instinctively addressed him.
Felix stood on the balcony, wearing a robe. He spoke with a gentlemanly and mature
demeanor. “Did Joshua cause you any
trouble?”
“No, I want to know what he was like when he was five,” Cynthia answered truthfully, as
Joshua had been relatively well- behaved.
“He was well-behaved and sensible. Even energetic and considerate,” Felix recalled it

Energetic?
Cynthia glanced at the closed door.
The current Joshua was not energetic at all.
“What is he like now? Felix asked.
“Obedient, but doesn’t talk much. And he still feels very insecure.” Cynthia uttered.
Felix raised an eyebrow.
Insecure?
When did Joshua ever feel that?
“Are you sure he’s not pretending? Felix expressed his doubt, as Cynthia’s description did
not match his impression of his son’s personality at all.
“I’m sure he’s not. He has asked me several times if I don’t want him anymore. I always
get the feeling that he lacks a sense of security.” Cynthia knew that saying this might
make Felix feel like she had not taken good care of Joshua, but she had to be
honest
If Matthew’s remark about Joshua hogging attention was indeed true, then Joshua’s
psychological state.
It seemed like a thorough examination was needed.
“Where is he?” Felix asked.
“He’s in his room. Do you want to talk to him? Cynthia replied truthfully.
Felix’s tone was no different from before, and said, “Give him the phone, and I’ll ask him.”
“Okay.”
Cynthia took the phone and went to lock on Joshua’s door. Along the way, she asked, “By
the way, Uncle Felix, was Joshua afraid of pain when he was a child?TM
“No.” Felix had a vivid memory of this.
Felix used to pretend to be in pain to earn sympathy from Daphne, and Joshua complained
about his lack of manliness. However, Felix soon discovered that Joshua indeed had a
higher tolerance for pain than many people, and he could handle it without flinching, even
when it was quite severe.

Cynthia replied, “I don’t think he was pretending. I believe he genuinely fears pain.”
Felix was surprised.
Just at that moment, Cynthia knocked on Joshua’s door.
Seeing Cynthia coming to find him again, Joshua thought she would lecture him.
He was considering how to refuse her when Cynthia handed him the phone and said, “It’s
your dad. He wants to talk to you.”
Joshua did not want to answer, but he was afraid that Cynthia would be upset, so he
reluctantly took the phone.
Cynthia did not stay, leaving space for Joshua and Felix to talk
Joshua went to the balcony with the phone and sat on a chair. With an unwilling tone, he
asked, “What do you want to talk about?
“What kind of attitude is that? Are you itching for a beating?”
Joshua remained silent. If it were not for the fact that Cynthia would be upset if he did not
answer the call, he would have hung up by now.
He did not want to talk to anyone other than Cynthia
“Call me Dad,” Felix said.
Joshua was annoyed.
