Chapter 624

Was it not Cynthia who had persuaded him?

Moses, burning with curiosity, stepped up to him and whispered in his ear, “What have

you been up to? Finding women?”

Joshua shot him a sideways glance.

He also noticed that the joy Old Man Neal had expressed at seeing him had gradually

faded.

“Why waste your time on all this. If you don’t want to return, then don’t. This house is big

enough without him,” Old Man Neal huffed dismissively, revealing his stubbom yet tender

heart.

He was visibly upset. In the past, no matter how busy he was, Joshua, that brat, would call

him monthly to check in and would always return home early for the New Year to keep him

company. Now, not only had he not heard from him in months, Joshua had returned home

without telling anyone and acted like a lord, standing there arrogantly. This brat definitely

needed a lesson

“I didn’t want to come back either. It was him who forced me,” Joshua retorted, proving he

was not the same person he used

to be

He could not comprehend why Cynthia would want him to return when everyone in the

family showed no fondness for him. Filled with anger, he turned around and left the main

hall. Thanks to Cynthia’s earlier introduction to the layout of the Neal residence, he

navigated his way to his room with precision.

His reaction caught everyone present off guard, including Felixx Daphne rushed forward to

stop him, her voice filled with concern. “Joshua, what’s wrong?”

Joshua wanted to retort, “Don’t you all dislike me? However, looking at the worried and

anxdous face before him, he found himself unable to utter those words.

“Nothing really, I’m just a bit tired from the flight. I’ll go and rest now,” Joshua managed a

softer tone, shifting the narrative.

With that, he walked away, leaving Daphne unable to stop him.

“Joshua!”

“Let him be. He’ll be fine after a rest.” Felix’s eyes darkened as he held Daphne back.

“What’s really wrong with him?” Daphne was genuinely concerned. She had never seen

him radiating such hostility and aloofness. “Did something happen to him?”

Their grandfather–grandson relationship had always been one of conflict and resolution. To

outsiders, it seemed that Old Man Neal was harsh to Joshua, but Joshua himself had

always felt blessed and even found his grandfather’s persistence endearing.

Both had their disagreements, but they also cared deeply for each other. However, the

current situation

“What’s the matter with that brat?” Old Man Neal was puzzled too.

“I don’t know, Let’s ask him slowly once he’s rested.” Felix did not directly answer but

provided a natural explanation.

The atmosphere in the main hall was somewhat subdued. Daphne and Old Man Neal

looked worried. The only one who seemed relatively unaffected was Moses.

After a while, Old Man Neal decided to visit Joshua. He found him holding a phone upon

entering his room. Joshua immediately turned off the screen and put down the phone, his

face full of displeasure. “What are you here for?

The cold gaze and frosty attitude stung Old Man Neal.

He did not get angry. He knew what kind of temperament his grandson had. If it had not

been for a major event, Joshua would not have lashed out at him as he did.

“I was impulsive just now,” admitted Old Man Neal. Despite his strict nature, he was not a

stubborn inan when it came to Joshua. “I came to apologize.”

Joshua was taken aback. His hostility and indifference vanished in an instant. He looked at

the man before him, well over fifty, his beard already whitening with age, and felt a

sudden surge of indescribable complexity. In his view, his grandfather should be a

stubborn, proud man. How could he come to apologize!
