Chapter 588
Cedric’s hair, once impeccably styled, was now a matted mess, dripping with the remnants of a rotten
egg attack. He was still reeling from the initial shock when more “grenades” of disgust were hurled his
way.
“Scumbag lawyer! A corporate lapdog, only chasing the almighty dollar! How could you defend
someone like Elspeth, a
cold blooded killer? Have you no conscience?”
A squashed tomato smacked against his chest, its crimson juice splattering everywhere.
“You spineless weasel! You call yourself a lawyer, but you have no humanity. Defending the high and
mighty while the common folk suffer for it! You don’t deserve your title; you’re a disgrace to the
profession!”
Another rotten egg made a direct hit on Cedric’s face, bursting open and blinding him with its foul
contents.
“Damn beast! Go to hell!”
“You should die along with Elspeth!”
“Go to hell! Burn for eternity!”
Cedric’s once pristine suit was now unrecognizable, and he shivered all over, his face etched with
panic as he attempted to weave through the angry crowd that had him trapped.

The infuriated group, red–eyed and unyielding, formed a human barrier around him, some taking the
chaos as an opportunity to land punches and kicks.
Caught between a rock and a hard place, Cedric, the “golden lawyer” renowned for defending the rich
and powerful, now found himself unable to wield the weapon of law to protect his own skin.
It was both tragic and laughable.
“If you hit me again, watch out, I’ll sue you.”
Cedric’s trembling words were cut short as a dark stone traced a parabolic arc through the air, thudding
against his head with a sickening sound!
In the next second, his vision turned a bloody red, his eyes rolled back, and he collapsed to the ground
with a heavy thud. Exiting the courtroom, Jason could no longer contain his turbulent emotions.
Ignoring the presence of the Ashbourne family elders, he embraced Nydia tightly.
“Nydia, I didn’t do well. I’ve let you down,” Jason said, his eyes brimming with remorse as he held her
delicate form close. “Don’t be silly, Jason. You were absolutely amazing. Don’t be so hard on yourself,”
Nydia consoled him softly, well aware of his strong sense of duty and his desire not to feel guilty.
“Myra, what do you think of Jason now?”
Suri, witnessing the young couple’s affectionate embrace, asked with a knowing smile, “This time, it
must be like a mother–in–law growing fonder of her son–in–law by the day, right?”
Myra, looking at her daughter’s blissful smile, felt a twinge of guilt for almost ruining her happiness in
the past.
She approached them, her tone gentle, “Jason.”
Jason immediately bowed respectfully, “Mrs. Myra.”
“Mom.” Nydia shyly stepped out of her boyfriend’s embrace, but their hands remained tightly clasped.
“Jason, in the past, I said some harsh things. I was wrong, and I apologize,” Myra said humbly,
sincerely expressing her regret. Nydia looked surprised, “Mom.”
Jason’s eyes widened in shock as he hastily waved his hands, “Please, Mrs. Myra, you shouldn’t say
that! I don’t recall any harsh words from you, and there’s no need for you to apologize to me. It’s I who
should apologize to you. There have been times when Nydia was in danger, and I wasn’t there to
protect her. I wasn’t strong enough, I wasn’t capable enough. But rest assured, from now on, even at
the cost of my life, I won’t let your daughter be harmed again! I swear it!”
Myra’s words had deeply moved him.
To hold a grudge against his future mother–in–law? That was the last thing he wanted if he hoped to
join this prestigious family! Myra smiled warmly, nodding in approval before turning to her daughter,
“Nydia, from now on, you need to treat Jason well. Don’t use your status to bully him. Jason, my
daughter may seem gentle and obedient, but she can be quite headstrong. It’s going to take some

After a brief silence, Nydia covered her mouth, overcome with emotion to the point of tears.
Jason felt a rush of warmth, his heart pounding with excitement!
Although Myra’s words were subtle, their meaning was clear: she fully supported Nydia and Jason’s
relationship!
Evadne and Thaddeus stood to the side, sweetly entwined, savoring the peaceful and tender moments
after the storm had passed.
“It’s finally over, isn’t it?”
“Yes, it’s over.”
Thaddeus tenderly kissed Evadne’s forehead, his hot lips slowly trailing down to her ear, now flushed
as if stained with blood, whispering intimately, “Let me bathe you tonight. You must be exhausted.”
Evadne’s cheeks turned a rosy red, her eyes sparkling with anticipation even as she feigned
resistance, “No matter how tired I am, I can still manage to bathe.”
“Evadne, have pity on me, don’t be so cruel, okay?” he pleaded with a soft, coaxing voice, almost
pitifully.
Evadne pursed her lips, just about to reply when Gordon’s clear voice called out from a distance:
“Mr. Abernathy! Mrs. Abernathy! Justice has been served, rejoice!”
