Chapter 278
The golden hues of the setting sun filtered through the clear windows, casting a gentle glow on their
overlapping shadows. It was an enchanting sight, as tender and intoxicating as their passionate kiss.
Evadne’s cheeks flushed a rosy hue under the man’s fervent kisses, a tingling sensation spreading to
every nerve in her body.
At first, she had the strength to hammer her fists against his broad chest and shoulders, but slowly, her
strength waned. Overwhelmed by Thaddeus‘ dominant masculinity, she found herself breathless and
her legs weak, involuntarily stepping backward.
Crash!
Her petite body was pushed onto the table by Thaddeus, causing a mess of scattered items on the
floor.
“Mmm.”
A low moan escaped from her intertwined lips, sounding both like a protest and a plea. Thaddeus eyes
turned a darker shade, his ears flushing a shade of red as if they were about to bleed. He was
consumed by a burning sensation that spread across his body, as if he was about to be ignited by a
flame named Evadne. Thaddeus vowed that he had only ever kissed one woman like this in his life,
and that was Evadne.
He also silently swore that he would never touch another woman like this again in his life.
“Master!”
The door to the studio was abruptly pushed open, and an oblivious Camille barged in, her eyes wide
with shock at the sight of Evadne and Thaddeus locked in a passionate embrace.
“What the hell are you doing, Thaddeus? Let go of my master!”
Evadne pushed Thaddeus away abruptly, her almond–shaped eyes wide open as if she were waking
from a dream. She swiftly slapped him across the face. Thwack!.
The sound echoed throughout the room, leaving Thaddeus‘ left cheek swollen and Camille
dumbfounded.
Despite the burning sensation on his cheek, a smirk formed on his face, painting an eerily pleased
expression on his face.
“Thaddeus. Get out. Now! I don’t want to see you!”
Evadne’s face was flushed from the kiss, her eyes watery and her lips stained with a blush of
embarrassment. Thaddeus‘ smirk deepened when he saw this.

Evadne was taken aback. What on earth was he talking about? Who said she wanted to see him?
Thaddeus gave her a lingering look before reluctantly heading towards the door.
As he brushed past Camille, he left in his wake a lingering scent of cool pine.
“Master! Are you okay?”
Camille rushed to Evadne, her eyes filled with anger and tears.
“I’m fine.”
Evadne sighed as she held her racing heart, “Let’s just pretend I got bitten by a dog.”
Camille froze at her words, and when she finally snapped back to reality, Thaddeus was already gone.
“Master, you have to tell me the truth, are you still not over him?”
“I’m over him.”
Evadne responded almost instantly, returning Camille’s hug with a dry voice, “I’ve already divorced him.
If 1 can’t let go of him now, then I’don’t deserve to be a
person.”
For thirteen years, she had never truly treated herself well because of Thaddeus. She wouldn’t love
anyone else after leaving him, and she wouldn’t repeat the same mistakes. She needed to move
forward.
“Right, you should look forward! Wise people don’t fall in love, they cook roast goose!”
Camille patted Evadne’s back, her voice filled with a playful cheer, “Master, let’s go out for barbecue
tonight and have a good drink! I want to hear your heartbreaking love stories!”
“My love story is nothing but a pile of bad debts and confusions.”
Evadne brushed off the gloomy thoughts and gave Camille a playful smile, “But what about you? Have
you met any handsome guys recently or started any new relationships?”
“I don’t have time for that, all I do is make and design clothes.”
Camille huffed proudly, “Handsome guys are nice to look at, but they’re useless otherwise. Those
models and actors I liked before showed their true colors after a few days. They either wanted me to
buy them luxury watches or fancy cars. I’m not a sugar mama!”
Evadne couldn’t help but laugh, “Looks like we’re both sucker magnets. But don’t worry, Camille.
Whatever bitter experiences I’ve had, I won’t let you go through them again. If you want a boyfriend, I
can introduce you to a few guys.”
“Really? You’re always so busy, how do you have so many options?”
“I’ve had this resource since I was born.”
Evadne patted her chest proudly, “My brothers Cassius, Arnold, Bennett, and Elvis are all single. I’ll
print out their profiles for you to look at, and you can see if you like any of them.”
Camille couldn’t help but laugh, “People might think we were ordering gigolos.”
“My brothers are much better looking than any gigolos.”
Evadne winked playfully, “What about Arnold? He’s not only more handsome than a gigolo, but he’s
also charming and articulate. He’s definitely your type.” “Really? What does Arnold do?”
“He’s a prosecutor.”
Camille was stunned.
When Thaddeus emerged from the mansion, he still had a dreamy look in his eyes, as if he hadn’t fully
extricated himself from his passionate kiss with Evadne. “Mr. Thaddeus!”
Gordon was outside, shivering in the cold. When he saw Thaddeus emerge, he hurriedly rushed over
to greet him.
Upon closer examination, Thaddeus bore a gentle gaze under his arched brows, his eyes twinkling like
bright pearls in the setting sun. His cheeks were flushed and his lips bore a seductive sheen.
Gordon’s mouth went dry and he blushed at the sight.
Looking at Thaddeus‘ radiant expression, could it be he had done something with Mrs. Abernathy?
“Mr. Thaddeus, your face?”
“Oh, it was smacked by Evadne.” Thaddeus raised his hand to touch his face, his eyes twinkling with
mirth.
“What? Why did Mrs. Abernathy hit you?” Gordon’s face was full of astonishment.
Thaddeus thought back to Evadne in his arms, her kisses almost melting him, his heart pounding. His
lips curved into a satisfied smile.
“Because she cares about me. She has me in her heart.”
There were only three days left until the birthday banquet.
Meanwhile, Elspeth had exhausted all her efforts and received the final disappointing news.
Haron would absolutely not design her a dress for the banquet.
“Haron’s studio said no matter how much you’re willing to pay or how generous the conditions, she
won’t design a dress for you.” Glynnis relayed the news to Elspeth, her voice trembling with fear.
Elspeth’s eyes widened in shock, “Why?”
“Mom, don’t ask for the specific reason.” Glynnis hesitated.
“Stop stuttering and tell me!”
Glynnis shivered and reluctantly said, “Haron said she won’t design clothes for women with a tainted

Elspeth, the wife of Mr. Frederic, was livid.
“How dare she! She’s just a dressmaker. What’s so great about her! Without a dress designed by
Haron, I can still outshine that wretch Myra!”
The room fell silent.
“Dad?”
Glynnis noticed Frederic standing by the door, his face as cold as ice..
Elspeth turned around and saw the stern look on her husband’s face. She hastily called out, trying to
appear nonchalant, “Frederic, when did you get back from your business trip”
“What are you doing? Why is everything smashed?” Frederic frowned at the mess on the floor.”
“I wanted Haron, the top designer, to design a dress for my birthday banquet. She not only refused but
also insulted me! How can I swallow this insult!”
Elspeth ran over to Frederic, her eyes welling up with tears. Her girlish demeanor made Glynnis, who
was in her twenties, feel inadequate.
“Frederic, I am your wife, and I represent you and the Abernathy Group. For Haron to insult me like
this, she’s slapping you in the face and disrespecting our Abernathy Group! You must stand up for me
and boycott her! Make her realize what happens when she crosses your woman!”
“Boycott? She’s an internationally renowned designer. Her target clients isn’t even in this country. Do
you think she’ll cave just because you say so?” Frederic’s tone hardened.
“Glynnis, leave us. I need to have a word with your mother.”
“Alright, Dad.” Glynnis quickly exited.
Frederic turned to Elspeth, “Elspeth, I saw the guest list you sent me. Why did you move your birthday
to the weekend instead of your actual birthday? You know that Emeric’s wife also celebrates her
birthday on that day. Did you pick that day to compete with her?”
Elspeth bit her lip and remained silent.
“Does your silence mean I’m right?”
Frederic slowly let go of her, his expressions confused, “The feud between you two has been going on
for over twenty years. You’ve both left the entertainment industry and the public has forgotten about it.
If you challenge her now, it’ll only remind people of the past. Isn’t that just stirring up trouble?”
“What does the unpleasant past have to do with me?”
Elspeth laughed bitterly, her eyes filled with resentment, “Back then, it was Myra who was humiliated,
not me! I’ll always be the shining star in the public’s eyes!”
“Your way of thinking is unreasonable!”
“Unreasonable? Frederic, am I the one being unreasonable, or are you feeling guilty? Does your heart
still lean towards Myra? After all, twenty years ago, your affair
with her was the talk of the town.”
